About the property

3 Bedroom | 1 Bathroom | LINEN INCLUDED

Mountain Lodge is an authentic weatherboard Blackheath cottage built in 1900, now tastefully refurbished to provide modern comforts and a true Blue Mountains holiday experience. Set in a peaceful street on the edge of the Kanimbla Valley with glorious bush walks just metres away, it offers a relaxing and refreshing break from city life. Stylishly decorated, Mountain Lodge provides superb living areas for guests to unwind and read, watch TV, or listen to music, with the background ambiance of a slow combustion wood fire place. With enormous picture windows on both sides, the lounge room is the perfect place to settle into after an afternoon walk, with light flooding the room all day. Alternatively the kitchen/dining room opens on two sides through French doors to a huge landscaped entertaining area and a tranquil, private fenced garden. Partially covered, this is the ideal place for relaxing with a drink before a BBQ dinner, or an evening with friends around the brazier. The large main bedroom is equipped with a comfy Queen size bed, and has french doors leading out to a side verandah shaded by ornamental pear trees. The second bedroom, equally large, has two single beds, whilst a further bedroom is provided in the sun room, with a comfy day bed, dressed with pillows, opening to a king size bed for the evening. The kitchen is modern and the adjoining dining area has a large table and French antique chairs. The bathroom was renovated in 2010 and provides marble floors and an enormous bath with shower over. Enjoy the peace and quiet of this special pocket of Blackheath with black cockatoos overhead along with the occasional hang glider! Mountain Lodge is only minutes away from the start of the Porters Pass walk, and an easy twenty minute walk to town.

About Blue Mountains Escapes

This property is managed by a local family owned business called Blue Mountains Escapes established in 2009.

The details below about why the owner purchased the property and the features have been written personally by them.

Blue Mountains Escapes purchased this house in 2010

Why Blue Mountains Escapes chose Blackheath

We (the owners) had just returned from living in England and were missing the cool climate and particularly the gorgeous gardens. After visiting the mountains and exploring many open gardens, we decided to buy a cottage which we now escape to as much as possible to avoid the heat and hustle and bustle of the city. The peace and quiet, and experiencing the change of seasons, is restorative to the soul.

What makes this house unique

Mountain Lodge made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. It still carries an authentic worker’s cottage feel but has been renovated and opened up to let abundant light into the living rooms. There are several cosy spots to curl up with a book on wintry days, and in summer the French doors open to a large landscaped outdoor patio which is usually bathed in sunshine. We feel quite privileged when the black cockatoos screech overhead on their way to find some seeds in the old pine trees. Slow down when you are driving into Cecil Road as the vista across the Kanimbla Valley is stunning.

We loved staying at the mountain lodge. Warm and cosy and plenty of space for the kids (4 and 6).

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this lovely comfortable character filled home, with a secure fully fenced back yard which was great for the dogs. Only negatives- No bath plug so couldn’t take advantage of the large bathtub, the kitchen pantry was nonexistent other than sugar.

Owner's Response: Hi Sandra, thanks for leaving your review it's lovely to hear that you and your furry mates enjoyed staying at Mountain Lodge. Thanks also for letting us know about the plug for the bath which was in the cupboard we have now left it out so future guests and yourself if you return to Mountains Lodge can indulge in a soak in the tub. With regards to the pantry Mountain Lodge is a self-catering property, so guests do need to bring along their own cooking supplies and condiments if they choose to stay in and cook rather than venture to the many restaurants and cafes Blackheath offers. It was great to host you and we look forward to welcoming you in the future. Regards Sue - Blue Mountains Escapes.
