We have a young family with two special helpers (6 and 3 years old), and have travelled abroad (once even with them!) for various professional and curious purposes. We love Hobart, and feel a real privilege to be custodians of this beautiful example of Georgian architecture, which was constructed using convict-made red bricks on sandstone footings, rough hewn structural timbers, pit-sawn floorboards, and was originally roofed with timber shingles.

It could be some kind of miracle that a house like this still exists in a location like this. We simply could not resist to try to purchase it, and when it became a reality we've been so happy to share it with travellers visiting Hobart from all over the world.

Our guests are generally impressed by our location (short walk to everything in Hobart, including Salamanca and the Waterfront being a pleasant walk through the park across the road), and the presentation of such an historic building in largely original form with tasteful and interesting decorations selected to prompt our imagination as to how life might have been in a past era.

Convenient and Cosy
We arrived late in the afternoon at Fifty Five Davey St after travelling from Launceston via Freycinet National Park. We were thrilled with the central location and layout of the property. It was much appreciated to have a welcome package on our first night so that we didn't have to race out and buy supplies. When planning our trip I had emailed Nick and he gave me some great tips on where to eat and what to see. This was particularly important as we were there over New Year and we needed to pre book a lot of sight seeing and restaurants. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom luxurious. Our friend from Perth stayed downstairs and we had a room upstairs opposite the kitchen/ lounge area. I would highly recommend the property and definitely stay there again. Thanks Nick

We stayed here with friends to celebrate my husband's 50th. A beautiful building that has clearly been lovingly restored, and super close to Salamanca Markets, the wharves and the ferry to MONA. The entire place was tastefully decorated, and all the little extra touches made it feel even more special. Beds were comfy and the rooms were quiet enough that kids could sleep while adults continued talking. Nick was super easy to deal with. We will definitely be back!

Great location, and everything you need
Clean, comfortable and well located close to the waterfront and Salamanca Markets. Toasty heaters worked well, and the kitchen had a good selection of equipment including pod coffee machine and decently sharp knives. Davey St is a busy street, however the home has thick walls and is quiet. Owner has been friendly and responsive. Would stay again!

Great property with everything we needed. Our Host was quick to respond to correspondence and nothing was a problem. Would recommend this property and would stay again when in Hobart.
Hobart CBD, Salamanca and Waterfront precinct only 2 minutes walk in any direction. MONA ferry departs Brooke St Wharf, St David's Park directly across the road.
