Great little escape

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The kids love the alpacas as well as the playground and endless amounts of mulberries to pick. It was lovely and quiet and had a nice cosy atmosphere. We also enjoyed building a fire each night and toasting some marshmellows. yummm.

My only con would be it can be easily missed when driving along. It needs a sign out on the road. And the bed we stayed in was a little uncomfortable but otherwise it was a nice weekend escape from the big smoke.

Thanks Selena for a great little house.

Great Escape

  • 4 of 5

The house is very comfortable and in a really beautiful area. There are lots of different rooms for guests to do their own thing or plenty of room to hang out together, we liked it best on the deck and in the kitchen. Having a huge oven made cooking for a bigger group much easier too.

A very cool house set in a glorious landscape

  • 5 of 5

We loved our three nights at Brook Cottage. The house is very comfortable and has plenty of room - we were four adults, three children and one dog, and the house accommodated us all easily. The kids loved the treehouse and the alpacas and goats. We went for walks in the Portland Town Common and a trip to the playground in Lithgow, but mostly we just hung out at the house, sitting on the deck playing board games, drawing and painting, talking, and enjoying the view - not to mention the occasional free-roaming horse running past on the road. The house is decorated with cool paintings and mosaics, has a gorgeous garden, and its original verandah has been enclosed to make a cozy sunroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a big stove, fridge and dishwasher - great for cooking big meals. We are already plotting our return!

great!

  • 5 of 5

we stayed 2 nights over the weekend for the Glow Worm Marathon in nearby Wolgan Valley. the cottage was very clean and nothing was old and dusty! it was well-equipped with everything we could have needed and there was plenty of wood for the log fires. our dogs had a fabulous time getting to know the alpacas and going on walks around the area. wish we could have stayed longer.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

loved the art works and the design of the cottage, however we could enjoy our stay even more if every thing wasn't old and dusty. It seems the property has been abanded. Ragged cushions, worn off beddings and sofa, spiders and flies inside(no window screen), smelly bathroom (as we walked in), rusty and broken outdoor furniture and messy gurden.

Owner's Response: This review is harsh and false. The person who wrote this review is making untrue statements. The property is well kept and does not have worn or broken furniture. Brook Cottage is a renovated cottage that employs professional cleaners and a gardener. Brook Cottage offers a unique experience for those who want to have a country farm stay experience. Brook Cottage offers a rambling garden, amazing Swiss style tree house, alpacas, wonderful country walks, cozy log fires and rambling garden with daffodils, lilac, roses and beautiful autumn colours. Brook Cottage has had hundreds of happy guests and returning guests, who have filled two whole guest books at the cottage! If you after a wonderful country experience with just the occasional fly or spider ;-) (we are eco friendly and it is the country afterall!) then come up and enjoy a unique property.

Exceptional property and wonderful for children

  • 5 of 5

Brook Cottage is an amazing spot. Our children absolutely adored the treehouse (has to be seen to be believed), the horses and the alpaca's as well as the great sandpit, swing and evening strolls through the nearby area. We were able to sit on the deck watching the kangaroos while the children played happily. Absolutely gorgeous spot and is well worth a visit. The cottage itself is beautiful and has lovely artwork throughout; we'll definitely be heading back there.
