There Still is a Pure Hawaiian Experience Available
I pride myself on traveling the road less traveled. I have been to Maui, Oahu and Kauai and have until now been left with a less than true Hawaiian experience. Hawi town is the REAL.
Locals radiate pure Aloha and I felt very welcome.
The property is a little more than a 5 minutes walk to town. The orchard was full of exotic fruit when I was there. The cottage is comfortable, clean and built with a Hawaiian theme.
This place is for the traveler who wants a real Hawaii experience. If you like the Four Seasons experience then you should stay there instead. Loved this accommodation and I will most definitely be back!
Thanks so much Iyah! We love our returning guests as it shows a true love for our special paradise of Hawi. We hope to see you again soon. Happy travels!
My wife and I stayed at the cottage in April. Words can’t do justice for this property. The place was built in a true Hawaii fashion. Cozy, comfortable, clean and well kept. Every morning we strolled out to a fruit forest to pick our breakfast from the trees. So cool! The property borders Hawaiian state forest land so you really feel that sense of privacy. That said, we could walk to the quaint and artsy town of Hawi In five minutes for a choice of cafes, restaurants and shops. Really one of the best trips we have had in years. On top of all that we got to see whales breaching when we drove ten minutes south along the coast. Can’t wait to return.
Mahalos Chris for the wonderful review. Having guests like you make being a host completely worth it. Aloha and all the very best to you!
Charming and rustic Hawi cottage
This is a charming cottage conveniently located in easy walking distance to Hawi town. Spacious and comfortably furnished with an old Hawaiian plantation feel. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the screened lanai. There were several nights of very heavy rain and strong winds, and we felt snug, safe and dry. It also meant centipedes sought refuge in the drier environment, so we had to be mindful. A bit rustic around the edges, especially the kitchen. The two burner gas stove is finicky and we could only get one burner to work, which made cooking a planning exercise. Interestingly, greywater from the kitchen and bathroom dumps directly onto the side yard grass, so be aware of soggy soil and standing water when walking out to the garbage can or laundry. On the positive side, the caretaker Sage met us when we arrived and was instantly available by text for any questions.
In response to Robin..
First of all thank you for choosing our cottage for your stay in Hawi. It sounds like you had a good time.
We were a bit surprised by some of your comments. After you left we had our caretaker and a service try to replicate the issue with the gas stove and no one could do it. The stove works perfectly and in fact when the caretaker stopped by to show you how it functioned, it started right away..?
The grey water line was broken by the trash can that got placed on it and is now repaired.
Lastly the centipede issue was caused from leaving the door open between the kitchen and the outside screened in lanai. That is an indoor/outdoor space and when the door gets left open it exposes the inside of the cottage to the outside elements.
We wish you well on your future travels. Aloha and all the best.
Comfortable and quiet place...awesome
My husband and I fully enjoyed our stay in this house. It was in a very convenient location, but was private, quiet and equipped with everything we needed. We especially liked the screened patio which was a great place to enjoy meals without getting bitten by mosquitoes. I initially had challenges getting in touch with the owner (questions, reservation request) but I'm glad I tried again because she was very nice and the rental was wonderful. We would definitely stay there again in the future.
Excellent place to get away from the crowds and tourists.
They have a great place to stay on the north end of the island. Geckos and fruit trees, quiet neighborhood, clean bathroom and kitchen and comfy beds. Don't come here of you're used to freshly remodeled condos with granite countertops but definitely do stay if you want to slow things down and feel like you live on the islands.
Peaceful and comfy home away from home.
My family of four stayed for a week and enjoyed every day. We have two preschool aged boys and they slept well on the futon couch and had great times playing in the lanai and roaming the secluded front yard looking for fruits and birds. Loved the place, loved the town and location. We would definitely go back.
