Quiet retreat in heart of foothills, close to downtown
About Mary Reiman
We have been fortunate to live in this unique location in the foothills of Boise since 2000, enjoying our lives with three Labradors and cat who is like one of the dogs. We start each morning by hiking our dogs and have the good fortune to enjoy mountain biking right out of our driveway. We're active in our community through various civic, volunteer and cycling groups. We love adventure, international travel and learning.
Mary Reiman purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Mary Reiman chose Boise
There are very few properties like this in Boise; only 2 miles from downtown, yet it feels like you're way out in the country. When the opportunity arose to purchase this property in 2000, we had to jump on it immediately, knowing it would sell extremely fast because of its unique location and wilderness feel. Our house is nestled in the middle of a city park, protected from any further development; no one else will ever be able to build here.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our location is a destination for trail runners, mountain bikers, dog hikers and equestrians. It's cool to see the parking lots down the lane fill up with recreationalists wanting to enjoy the amenities we have directly off our driveway. Everyone tells us how lucky we are to live in such a location; it's perfect for our lifestyle.

Sweet Little Cottage
This was perfect for a little getaway for 2. Cottage was great. Hiking trails were wonderful and the owner and doggies were super friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Boise is a lively college town!
I enjoyed having access to all those trails.
It was a lovely place and I could have just moved right in!
This place delivered better than any VRBO I’ve experienced in a long time. It’s a small studio cottage which is just far enough from the main house that it is private but the local dogs come visit. The main thing about this place is it’s location: it is off in the hills, steps from the expansive Boise foothill trails, secluded, but yet it’s 10 min drive down the road to town. You probably want to love dogs, the outdoors, and whoever you are sharing the house with, but satisfy those three requirements and this place is dynamite. Mary even brought us some extra lawn chairs (and also left cookies) when i mentioned our friends were going to come hike with us and stay for a glass of wine afterwards.
I’m late I’m responding, but am so glad you had a nice stay with us! Thanks for the kind words and I hope your trip to Boise was great.
Perfect for being outdoors
This property is simply elegant and gives you amazing access to nature and the outdoors. I enjoyed watching the many different types of birds, hawks, and owls. The trails adjacent to the property are fabulous. It is a quick jaunt to town and super easy in and out.
We're glad you enjoyed the cottage and now, indeed, is a great time for wildlife appreciation...especially the great horned owls who will be nesting soon (they sit on their eggs in Feb)! We're sorry we didn't get to meet you, but hope you visit us again!
Always a great stay!!
Thanks so much for visiting us again; good seeing you all!
We look forward to having you again!
Awesome Little Place in the Hills
We spent Thanksgiving at the cottage and found it to be just what we’d hoped it would be. Minutes from downtown, but very secluded. Proximity to trails was also a plus, as we were able to take the dogs on a pre-thanksgiving dinner walk. We were also able to pull off prepping our little meal with the supplies in the kitchen. We’ll probably head back next time we’re in Boise!
So glad you enjoyed your Boise stay and that you were able to hike a bit with the hounds. Please do consider us again in the future!
