About The Owner

Our family cottage built in 1969 on 80 acres of beautiful wilderness. My father and mother were immigrants from England and Poland. We lived in Northville, MI and spent our summers in Cross Village. My father worked at FMC and came up every weekend. I fell in love with this area and in 1994 finally moved up here from Chicago to live year round. My husband and I were married at the little stone church in Cross Village!

The Owner purchased this chalet in 1969

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Great place to bring your dog since we are situated on lovely 80 acres of meadow and forest, map of the property is provided, very quiet and private. We are only one mile from Lake Michigan, as kids we used to walk to the Village and down to the beach from the chalet.

Our new all tile bathroom and new tile shower is complete for 2017.

We provide lots of cotton towels and cotton bed sheets, also firewood and kindling free of charge.

charge.

What makes this chalet unique

The Cross Village Chalet is one of the only cottages in the area with Wi Fi.

This year (2016) we are remodeling the bath, with an all new tiled bathroom and tile shower. Will soon be adding an Eco bunkhouse with outdoor shower!

peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We come every year to "unplug" from the world. It is just perfect for me and my husband. Our dog actually loves it as much as we do. It is his one week of freedom! We take lots of walks and enjoy nature. The location is ideal as it is close to the tunnel of trees, the beach and you can easily to go Mackinaw Island or Harbor Springs for day-trips. Pond Mill Farms is worth the trip as well! The wi-fi was recently added so I am not as unplugged as I used to be, but that is up to me! The convenience of wi-fi is nice. The accommodations are very comfortable. There is no a/c, but not needed, the chalet stays pretty cool. We can't wait to go back.

Wonderful place for who loves to be in wilderness

  • 4 of 5

Nice place with totally wilderness setup.. Things to do before choosing this cottage:

1) prepare for black flies in the outdoor.

2) make sure you are 100% clear on the route to reach the cottage.

3) Better arrive the cottage before getting dark as it avoid probable confusions on route identifying the cabin.

4) This is a small cottage which only sufficient for 4 persons max for a comfortable stay!!

Other than this, this is an excellent cottage with amazing outdoor features!! I loved the outdoor more than indoor!!

Good luck!!!

Owner's Response: If you have been to Northern Michigan you would know this, black fly season is the end of May to about first week of June. I had a phone conversation with this traveler due to lot's of emails from him, this family was from India traveling from Chicago, I send a personal note card to all of my guests with a map and other details prior to arrival. I called to make sure they were well aware of what to expect when driving into Cross Village and the Chalet. It is very clear in the description what the sleeping arrangements will be.

Simply amazing...Relaxing...peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our annual vacation. The chalet is beautiful, peaceful, private and just all around amazing. We will definitely be a returning customer! I loved the hammock...Listening to wild turkeys off the back deck and the room for the kiddies to play in the yard.

Can't wait to return!!

Our stay at the Cross Village cabin was wonderful as always. We've visited several times in the past. So peaceful and comfortable. Has all of the amenities needed. Will visit again and again.

Not a big fan of the reservation website.

Relaxing fall weeken in the woods

  • 5 of 5

The Chalet is absolutely lovely! Everything was as described on the site. The setting is verily quiet, secluded, and well maintained. We loved all the special touches and amenities. We would have been thrilled to enjoy the hammock, fire pit, and deck but the weather did not allow it. Instead we kept cozy by the wood fire stove. The property was very clean. Directions to area sites and general store very helpful. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future. Thank you!
