About The Owner

Our family cottage built in 1969 on 80 acres of beautiful wilderness. My father and mother were immigrants from England and Poland. We lived in Northville, MI and spent our summers in Cross Village. My father worked at FMC and came up every weekend. I fell in love with this area and in 1994 finally moved up here from Chicago to live year round. My husband and I were married at the little stone church in Cross Village!

The Owner purchased this chalet in 1969

Why The Owner chose Harbor Springs

Great place to bring your dog since we are situated on lovely 80 acres of meadow and forest, map of the property is provided, very quiet and private. We are only one mile from Lake Michigan, as kids we used to walk to the Village and down to the beach from the chalet.

Our new all tile bathroom and new tile shower is complete for 2017.

We provide lots of cotton towels and cotton bed sheets, also firewood and kindling free of charge.

charge.

What makes this chalet unique

The Cross Village Chalet is one of the only cottages in the area with Wi Fi.

This year (2016) we are remodeling the bath, with an all new tiled bathroom and tile shower. Will soon be adding an Eco bunkhouse with outdoor shower!

peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We come every year to "unplug" from the world. It is just perfect for me and my husband. Our dog actually loves it as much as we do. It is his one week of freedom! We take lots of walks and enjoy nature. The location is ideal as it is close to the tunnel of trees, the beach and you can easily to go Mackinaw Island or Harbor Springs for day-trips. Pond Mill Farms is worth the trip as well! The wi-fi was recently added so I am not as unplugged as I used to be, but that is up to me! The convenience of wi-fi is nice. The accommodations are very comfortable. There is no a/c, but not needed, the chalet stays pretty cool. We can't wait to go back.

Delightful

  • 5 of 5

Thoughtfully and artfully appointed space in a small, vibrant community. Sylvia was there when we needed help, and otherwise the property is very quiet and private. We were lucky enough to see a couple of deer roam through the woods. Just perfect.

Cute A frame house - Very Clean and organized

  • 5 of 5

When we first drove there we were kind of skeptical once we hit the gravel road. No other homes nearby. Glad we didn't arrive after dark since we missed a turn to the house and went toward the neighbor's house :) Sylvia sent a note several weeks before our departure which helped us find the place!!!! Just follow her direction when you hit Cemetery Rd.

When we saw the house we fell in love right away! There's a sauna in front of where we park our car (we didn't use it though). We ate dinner around bonfire and it was a great time!

Inside, we found a very clean and organized place. The top floor doesn't seem claustrophobic (I am claustrophobic) and the beds upstairs are double bed. It's basically a cute cabin! Sylvia put a lot of her own style which we love! Love the cute bathroom too with the rocks as the shower floor. The deck behind the house is also awesome to just sit and chat.

We took our dogs there and there is a black dog who lives nearby who is very friendly. Our golden retriever had some fun time chasing squirrel and deer.

Fun memorable time.

Read the guest book to get ideas of where to go!

Thank you Sylvia to help us create a memorable experience there! We'll stay here again if we go there!

Perfect quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

First, everything was extremely clean and varment free (my husband has a little phobia). The pictures don't due it justice!! Pretty decorating and well stocked. We never lacked for anything. New bath is stunning. And we went during a heat way, no problem. There are two ceilings fans and two table fans. We were always comfortable. Even sun shades on west window.

Only tiny issue is no telephone although it was listed as an amenity. Probably used to have one before internet, which is waaaaay more important. But, if it is important, you should note this. My husband has health and mobility issues with age and was anxious about the lack of telephone in case of emergency.

Loved this, as did our dog!

You will not be disappointed

Owner's Response: Thank you Gail for such a great review, I went right to my "edit" @ the website and deleted the "telephone" in amenity. That was very thoughtful and a helpful comment for information about the Chalet. So glad you both felt so comfortable! Sincerely, Sylvia Jania, property owner

Absolutely loved it. Will be coming back again!

  • 5 of 5

Such a charming little cabin in the middle of a small town, nestled back in the woods. So relaxing. The cabin felt very homey, with lovely decorations. We loved everything about it. We highly recommend staying here. The owner is wonderful. Can't wait to come back for another getaway trip!

Incredibly Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was beyond pleasant. The children loved it. It was unlike any experience they've ever had and we felt very much at home. I have to admit we were a little sad to go!
