About the property

ballaterson cottages 1

Ballaterson Cottages are situated just outside of Ballaugh village in the North of the Island, only a short distance from the Ballaugh Curraghs, and the Currraghs Wildlife Park with lake/cafe. We support the Welcome Scheme for walkers, cyclists and bikers. For anglers the island has sea and fresh water fishing in abundance. There are six reservoirs for trout fishing. To download more information on fishing go to www.visitisleofman.com/angling.

The location is outside off the main TT course for enthusiasts of the TT, but far enough not to encounter the noise. The cottages are situated adjacent to the main house, consisting of two x 1 bedroomed cottages ( 5ft beds or singles available) and 1 x 2 bedroomed cottage ( 1 double and one twin , plus an additional double. We have a spare single fold up bed if required. Each cottage has its own private parking space, and outside seating area with views of the garden and mountains beyond. The 2 bedroomed cottage has its own private patio area and garden. An additional pull out single bed can be provided.

The village of Ballaugh is 1.5 miles away and has a village shop providing all supplies, post office, butchers. Nearby pubs provide good food, and Ramsey town is nearby. The coast is about 1.5 mile

May I say a very big thank you to Georgia for allowing us to stay in her beautiful cottage, to say the property was clean, tidy and welcoming is an understatement, it was immaculately turned out in every way, very spacious, warm and everything we could have wished for and more.

We look forward to coming over and staying there again soon.

Many Thanks Georgina,

Alan Withers

Total comfort on a beautiful island

  • 5 of 5

This was a very well appointed, spotlessly clean cottage with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever had away from home. After a long & tiring journey it was great to find a welcoming plate of home-made cake and everything needed for a hot drink. Georgina was really helpful with local knowledge and the one totally wet day was easily spent in the comfortable surroundings of the cottage. We will be recommending this to friends and family. We ate out at Niarbyl (great seafood chowder but no sight of a basking shark) and had a more special meal at the Boatyard in Peel (some food/drinks had a Japanese style) as well as a superb brunch at Little Fishes on departure day as we waited for the ferry to arrive in Douglas. The tourist info centre in Douglas was very helpful with a reasonable range of leaflets etc.

Beautiful Setting, Fantastic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in the Isle of Man, there is so much to see and do. We easily could have filled another week as there was more we wanted to see but we ran out of time.

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and Georgina was very welcoming. Our children really enjoyed the outside area and Georgina had left bats, balls and a Frisbee for them to play with which they really appreciated. There are lovely views of the mountains and an outside seating area which meant we could eat outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. The cottage is a short drive from the beach and we were also lucky enough to see wild wallabies in the fields close by with Georgina's tips.

We would definitely recommend the cottage as a place to stay and hope to visit again ourselves. Thank you.

Comfortable cottage situated in a quiet location within walking distance of the village. Views of the mountains and fields with hares, pheasants and lots of wild flowers.

Well equipped cottage, very clean and well maintained. Very pretty garden to relax in and watch the sun go down.

Wonderful holidays - it was almost like home

  • 5 of 5

Everything was set up on our arrival even biscuits and tea awaited us. The two bedrooms are nicely decorated and there was enough space where we could put our stuff. In the livingroom we found a tv set and in the kitchen area everything was provided you could think of. During some quite cold evenings we very much appreciated that the central heating coul be adjusted to our needs. The next pub (The Raven in Ballaugh) was within a ten minutes walk, the manificent scenery of Ballaugh Shore was just 20 minutes away and to the Wildlife Park it took us also a mere 20 minutes by foot along the dismanteled railway line. All in all Ballaterson Cottages was the best place to spend a relaxing, entertaining and still quiet fortnight on one of the most beautiful islands. If there is anything we may ask for at a forthcoming visit, it's just two things: some hooks in the bathroom to park your garment while washing, bathing or showering so that you don't have to drop it on the floor. And maybe free wifi to stay connected to our family and friends at home. Thank you Georgina!!!

The properties are situated in the countryside, yet with easy access to main roads and the famous Isle of Man, TT course,

surrounded by beautiful country side, and within close proximity to the Ballaugh Curraghs, with some great views.

Ideal for, walking holidays, cycling, and enjoying the countryside and wildlife.

The sea is never far away and there are boat trips to the Calf of Man, around the Sound and Peel, where you can see seals and basking sharks at certain times of the year at the Calf of Man. Take the many footpaths for spectacular views.

Go fishing with a temporary permit at the many reservoirs. Peel and Port Erin in the South have some lovely sandy beaches for children, and there is the lake at Moraugh park in Ramsey where children can take out paddle boats, there is a childrens play area, separate water fountain, tennis courts and two cafes. Visit Peel Castle and take a walk round Castletown and its harbour.

There are also 6/7 golf courses.

Other Activities: Diving and windsuring are about 30mins away

Golf: The island is blessed with 9 good golf courses, the nearest being in Ramsey and the rest scattered around the island.

If you require any information on any of the golf courses please contact me and I will provide these for you,
