About Katie Vaill

Our family has lived all of our lives in Connecticut and Maine. We love our cabin on the lake and the town of Damariscotta! My son spent his summers in Maine with my mother when he was growing up. We all grew up spending our days on the rocks at the Pemiquid Lighthouse.

Katie Vaill purchased this cabin in 1993

Why Katie Vaill chose Nobleboro

Our cabin is clean and well maintained with a beautiful water front yard with a terrace and dock. The cabin has everything needed for a great vacation on the water. We love to cook so the kitchen is well stocked. The cabin is only 15 miles from the ocean so you can enjoy the lake and the ocean! Hike the mountains in Camden and come home to dinner on the lake!

What makes this cabin unique

Unique benefits of our cabin are the dock, front lawn/terrace, glider swing, screened in front porch looking at the lake. The sunsets are beautiful and the mornings are quiet. This is a great cabin for anyone with a boat with a private boat launch on the island.

Nice cottage right on the lake.

  • 4 of 5

Overral we really enjoyed our experience. It was my wife 2 year old daughter and myself. I have grown up on this lake my whole life. This was my 30th year going. As our family grows we have needed to find more and more cottages to accommodate us. This cottage was a perfect size for us, we could have comfortably fit 3-4 other people. Their are 2 kayaks to use and a dock for your boat if you have one. The property has a nice fire pit and nice screened in porch. Water access is not great, you have the dock to jump in and out of the water but no beach to walk in and out. Moderate amount of sun but a lot of trees blocking it, great if you want to stay in the shade. Wifi to keep my daughter distracted and cable for those rainy days. We would stay here again.

Drinking lake water from the tap and nice nesting in the bedding

  • 1 of 5

We would have liked to be told that the water was not potable before we booked. We have a family member who is immuno co promised and as NOTHING was labeled it took two days of drinking the tap water and illness to find out from the owner that we could only drink store bought water and cook with it. I get that they are used to it as a lifestyle but it did not occur to us. There was more documentation about the wifi than anything about the undrinkable water. Secondly the shock of taking out the bedding and finding it shredded and full of mice feeces was unpleasant late at night. Would have preferred the one to air the bedding on opening so she was aware of the problem before we encountered it. On the positive side she was very accommodating to requests before we came and was reachable by text/phone when we arrived. We would recommend this property as it was a very lovely setting with lots of amenities and fit 6 of us comfortably. There were many personal touches that made the stay easier such as

Bug spray and flashlights. Loved Kyacking on the lake but had to buy lifejackets in town to do so. Sunsets were magical.

Owner's Response: We do apologize for the misunderstanding about the water. There are two sections on our VRBO page that indicate the need to bring bottled water. The first is located in the "kitchen" description and the second is located in the hospitality page under "what to bring". We have added more specific information to our property description. With regards to mice.....we found no evidence of mice getting into the bedding that is stored in plastic bins. Mice are not uncommon in cabins in the woods. We have monthly service from Orkin and again, have taken further measures since your stay.

We enjoyed the week at this lovely location. Fishing, swimming(in Sept.) and kayaking were the lake activities. The cabin was very comfy and would definitely recommend this location!

Relaxing and quiet

  • 5 of 5

It was a very quiet and relaxing visit

Excellent spot and just the right size for a family of four, kids enjoyed the free WIFI, even though my husband and I enjoyed the few days without using our cell phones and laptops :)
