About Mary Ann

We are delighted you are looking at our Hinkley Brook Cabin for your visit to Vermont. We trust you will find our cabin to be truly special. It was built in 2011 by us. Well, with the help of some very special friends (who are real contractors!)

The bulk of the cabin was built with logs from the land, which were milled here in Grafton. We have designed the cabin with the goal of making it a very special get-a-way. We are excited to share it with you.

Mary Ann purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Mary Ann chose Stratton and Bromley Ski Areas

You will find that you need to bring very little.

The bedrooms are furnished with quality linens and towels are provided. The kitchen is very simple; microwave, convection/toaster oven, electric skillet, crock pot, weber bbq, George Foreman grill, blender, coffee pot. There are terrific restaurants in the area.

You have chosen an area of Vermont that truly is beautiful and special. There is information in the cabin to help you choose your activities as well as provide you with other information to make your stay enjoyable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited Hinkley Brook in late January with our two small dogs. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. A beautiful cabin, secluded in the snowy forest just a few minutes from the village of Grafton. Mary Ann has clearly put a tremendous amount of work into making the cabin a perfect vacation experience. It is clean, beautifully decorated, well stocked and organized with everything you might need. She has notes where anything needs explaining, and a packet of information about the cabin and area. She even left wine, milk and a locally made snack for us! We never ran into the hosts, although we were comfortable that they were there if we needed them (available by phone, and they live just down the street). They did check in by email to make sure we were comfortable, which we really appreciated. Grafton is a gem -- quaint and secluded, with a few unique stores and restaurants. We skied Okemo a few days -- an easy (and scenic) half hour drive away. We actually enjoyed staying a bit away form the hustle of ski country. I have no doubt that we will be back to Hinkley Brook and will recommend to anyone looking for a getaway in Southern VT. Thanks Mary Ann!

Glorious

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was glorious. Perfectly secluded, but we could easily walk into town. Super cozy, with treats and a kind note left for us. Easy to find, we received directions well in advance and GPS took us right to the cabin. We had originally been nervous about the compost toilet - but it wasn't scary at all and quite easy to use. Would highly recommend to anyone, and we fully plan on returning.

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for two nights with my girlfriend and this cabin was absolutely perfect. We wanted a peaceful getaway at a cute little cabin in the woods; we got that and more. The interior is even better and cozier than the pictures can show and the property managers were infinitely kind, helpful and welcoming. There was a great selection of DVDs in addition to wifi. Fantastic privacy, scenery and little town a short walk away. I often rely on reviews when booking any sort of trip like this and I would 100% recommend it to anyone considering staying here! :)

WOW, Perfect Cabin in the Woods!

  • 5 of 5

If you have ever envisioned a romantic getaway or a retreat to de-stress or regain your thoughts - and at the perfect place on earth - you must stay at this perfect cabin in the woods. This cabin has all the modern amenities along with a terrific layout including the loft bedroom with the spiral staircase and an electric stove (for ambiance), the back porch and the kitchen. The cabin is carved into a hill in the middle of the woods. We arrived to a thoughtful platter of wine, cheese, crackers, apples and cookies. The owners literally left nothing to be desired including the coffee and cream waiting in the refrigerator! Wow, we were so impressed, we reserved it again for a few months later.

Getting away from it all

  • 4 of 5

This cabin in Grafton, VT, is the ideal retreat if you're looking for peace and quiet. Wonderful care has been taken to furnish this place with delightful details. Everywhere you look is a wonderful country touch. For those with physical limitations, the circular staircase can be difficult to navigate. And the compost toilet takes some getting used to. But overall, this place is a perfect combination of the rustic and the modern. Our hosts clearly take great care and pride in maintaining it. When we arrived there were cheese, crackers, wine, and cookies awaiting us. Plus some treats for our dog! That set the tone for a delightful weekend.
