Awesome historic house in Virginia City
We stayed here for 4 nights as we were in the Art Craft show for the weekend. It was a very hot weekend and coming back in the evenings and sitting on the front porch cooling off was very relaxing. This house has so much character and history.Very well set up and the yard and BBQ were a plus.We enjoyed our weekend so much we plan on returning next year!
So glad you enjoyed the house!
Circle Diamond Chuck Wagon
We enjoyed our stay at the Vigilante house very much. Its always nice to have a home away from home. Grand kids missed TV but we were so tired after our Chuck Wagon Cook Off that sleeping was not a problem. Air movement through out the house kept us cool in the evenings. It was only a couple of blocks from our venue that we walked several times back and forth. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We want to keep it to ourselves, Ha Ha. I will tell all our friends and family if they are traveling through Virginia City and want to spend sometime there that this is the place to get into. Karen was very accommodating Nice Nice place.
Glad the house worked well for you! Sorry to miss your Circle Diamond Chuck Wagon cook off! Next year I hope! Thanks for the detailed review! Have a great rest of the summer!
Charming is right! Bright, open and comfortable. 1 block from the main street but quiet and relaxing
I took my parents and sister for a weekend getaway and stayed at the Vigilante House. We had a wonderful time! The house has been beautifully restored and is filled with vintage furniture that makes it feel like a step back in time. We wished the walls could talk. It was comfortably furnished with everything we needed to cook, BBQ or just sit and visit. Everything was neat and tidy, and there were lots of magazines and brochures to tell us about the area. The rooms were light and bright and the place had such a peaceful feeling--not always the case with old houses. I was concerned that we would miss having a TV, but the opposite was true. We had no problem filling the time sharing family stories, walking the streets and reading all the wonderful historical markers, and exploring the house and yard. You're just a few hundred yards from the busy main street but since you're down the hill the area is quiet. The Star Bakery in Nevada City had the best pastries ever, and the restaurants and ice cream shop in Virginia City were great too. If you want a relaxing vacation in a beautiful house in a fascinating historical town, I highly recommend the Vigilante House. We're already planning our next visit.
