Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Mousehole

Sleeps 6, exposed stone walls, private garden, 400m from harbour, wifi broadband

Enjoy the sheltered, flower-filled garden or relax in the full-length conservatory / dining room. Lynwood Cottage has been loving restored with exposed stone walls, well furnished and decorated rooms set over 3 floors. The ground floor provides spacious living accommodation with open plan but defined kitchen and sitting rooms and a sunny conservatory to the front. The centre of Mousehole is approximately 1/4 mile away with its winding streets, old net lofts and sandy, sheltered harbour. Explore the many art galleries and cafes or just enjoy a pasty and ice cream overlooking the harbour and sea beyond. There is a small beach perfect for little ones on one side of the harbour but there are many larger sandy beaches in the area such as Sennen well known for its surfing or Porthcurno, a simply stunning beach. There are many beautiful coastal walks towards the fishing town of Newlyn where you can purchase the fresh catch of the day or towards Lamora over a particularly beautiful stretch of the coastal path. There are several lovely pubs and restaurants in Mousehole, just a few minutes walk from the cottage. The larger historic town of Penzance is 3 miles away with a wider range of shops, supermarkets, leisure centre, outdoor lido, pubs and critically acclaimed restaurants. The Scillonian ferry runs from Penzance to the stunning Scilly Isles. On street parking is usually available opposite the cottage.

Accommodation

Ground Floor: Entrance into the large, sunny conservatory with hooks for coats, armchair, large mahogany dining table and chairs. Door leads into the good sized living room with woodburner, two comfortable sofas, coffee table and large flat screen TV and DVD player. The sitting room has part exposed stone walls retaining the character of this Cornish cottage. At the back of the cottage is the kitchen which is naturally split into two areas, the first with electric oven and halogen hob, large fridge / freezer and plenty of cupboard space, to the back is a sink, washing machine, plenty of storage and work surfaces with kettle and toaster. The ground floor has all recently been redecorated with solid travertine floors in the kitchen and laminated wood flooring throughout sitting and dining room.

First Floor – Main bedroom with double bed, window overlooking the garden, chest of drawers and built in wardrobe. Bunk room with children’s bunk beds and cupboard. Lovely bathroom with bath and electric shower over, basin and WC.

Second Floor – An attic bedroom with 2 twin beds, built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and velux sky light window with views over the village to the sea beyond.

Outside – To the front of the cottage is a lovely private garden, predominately laid to lawn with well matured flower beds, circular garden table and chairs. There is a garden shed containing further chairs, BBQ, washing line and sun chairs.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Well, what a wonderful time we've all had here this week. Its definately been a good time, beachwise for our two dogs, they've love it. Sennen, Porthcurno, St Ives Bay, Mounts Bay (kite surfing) all fabulous. Mousehole reminds us of Robin's Hood Bay in North Yorkshire, so quaint and cosy. We had a lovely meal at 2 Fore Street to celebrate my birthday and shopped in St Ives - galleries galore. You guys, many thanks for letting us stay in your lovely cottage. We self cater a lot and have found in the past people with dogs, although well behaved, are very much deprived when it comes to comfort and cleanliness. As an interior designer myself it has been a very big bonus to have stayed in such lovliness - welcome basket, feather duvets, Sky & WiFi all added to our evening enjoyment. I can honestly say its been one of the best holidays we've had, so we'll definately be back. Warmest thanks

Lynwood Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Cornwall many times over the years but our stay at Lynwood Cottage was one of the best. The cottage was very well equipped, well maintained and decorated, cosy and comfortable. The welcome pack was excellent and immediately made us feel at home.

We found the Cottage convenient enough to be able to leave the car and walk into Mousehole, and along the coastal paths although you need plenty of puff for the climb back up to the cottage.

We enjoyed walking along the coast paths and visiting the beaches at Sennen and Porth Curno and St.Ives.

There are now excellent restaurants in Mousehole.

We would definitely recommend Lynwood Cottage.

Pure bliss!

  • 5 of 5

Lynwood Cottage was everything we were expecting and more. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and a great start to what was a wonderful week. The cottage was very clean, well presented and in a perfect location to visit Mousehole and explore its magic. We got into a lovely routine of going out for the day, having a great time, then returning to Mousehole and walking down to the Ship Inn en-mass (dog included) for a pint and a game of cards. A perfect week - thank you!

Wonderful cottage in a lovely part of the world

  • 5 of 5

I spent an amazing, get-away-from-it-all, one-man-and-his-(large!)-dog week at Lynwood Cottage in early October. I found it to be a lovely cottage in a great location that provided an excellent base for exploring the scenic and gastronomic delights of West Cornwall.

The cottage itself is an end-of-terrace property that's cosy, comfortable, quiet, well-equipped, clean and beautifully presented. Nice welcome pack, too. It's very well-situated, being practically the last house as you travel up the hill from Mousehole towards Paul. I didn't find parking a problem - yes, the road is narrow, but there were always spaces immediately outside the cottage, and the fact it's on the edge of the village makes it especially convenient in this regard when compared with the vast majority of properties in Mousehole, with its maze of extremely narrow lanes.

Mousehole is just a couple of minutes' stroll down the hill and is a friendly, unspoiled fishing village with tons of charm and character.

As a major lover of great gastro food and beer, I'd thoroughly recommend The Coastguard pub/hotel (sister of The Gurnard's Head near Zennor - also excellent), the restaurant at 2 Fore Street and the organic cafe 'Hole Foods (see what they did there..?), all a short walk from the cottage. Further afield, The Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe is seriously good, and The Coldstreamer at Gulval also worth a vist. All the above are partly or wholly dog-friendly and are no more than a 20-30 minute drive away.

For dog walks in the 5-9 mile category, there are some superb coastal path walks to be had from Lamorna Cove, Prussia Cove, Botallack, Zennor, Sennen Cove and Porthcurno, again all within half an hour's drive. Some of the scenery on these walks is among the best I've experienced.

I'd thoroughly recommend Lynwood Cottage to anyone interested in visiting this lovely part of the world.

wonderful cosy hide away

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cosy cottage with everything we could have asked for! We had a wonderful stay here while recovering from heavy colds which prevented us camping. A warm and comfortable cottage with all the facilities we could have wished for. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Great access to the harbour and coast paths and nearby attractions. Will definately be recommending.
