Our Mudgee Base
When we visit Mudgee we find Capertee the perfect base. A pleasant one hour outside Mudgee. ...but an hour less makes a big difference for the journey to the region and the journey home.
Nice, quiet a step back in time but with modern amenities
Our second visit with another planned later this year. ...that should say it all...
Thanks for coming again (and again) Phillip. We’re so glad the Station Master’s House has worked its magic on you!
Beautiful Cottage in Capertee
The delightful Station Master's House was the best place for us to base ourselves whilst looking around beautiful Capertee Valley. Stephanie was very pleasant to deal with. Thank you!
Thanks so much for coming Georgina. You were great to deal with too. You’re welcome back any time! We’re so glad you enjoyed our place and that beautiful valley.
Nice, quaint house
We enjoyed a nice couple of nights in this quaint old house. Lovely, big bedrooms. Poky but comfortable living room. Great kitchen to sit around in. Bathroom/toilet arrangements are 'interesting'.
What a lovely place to stay
We went with friends and found the place very comfortable, lovely big towels and ample heating. The house was a lovely find, we found it was easy to spend time within the intimate living room and eat in kitchen. Overall I felt very privileged to spend time in an authentically period home with all the mod cons. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There was no internet connection so if you want to be away from everything you pretty much can, although there is a telephone box was not very far.
Great weekend escape
We came across the Station Masters House at Capertee by accident. We had long wanted to visit the Rylstone/Mudgee area. Capertee is a great jumping off point for a visit to the region. And the Station Masters House is a lovely place to stay. Comfortably appointed, good cooking facilities, good sleeping arrangements, heating, TV and so on. Plus, a real slice of the old Australia, and easily reached from Sydney. I recommend it for anyone wanting a weekend (or more) away in a historic and characteristic part of Australia. And just a few hours drive from Sydney. I also recommend a return trip along the back route via Tarana. Beautiful country indeed.
