Walking guide books: We have gained lots of experience on walking routes and have appropriate maps and other helpful information that can be shared with guests. The walks into the nearby mountains are not too strenuous and worth the extra effort. However easier trails exist close by and afford wonderful views of the countryside.
History and Buildings: The local area is full of relatively uncrowded attractions for those interested in history, buildings culture.
Again we have a good library of information and will be pleased to assist with itineraries.
A retired UK company director, born in Cornwall but travelled and lived all over the UK. I decided to move permanently to Italy after many holidays and work associated visits.
Ken Bray purchased this cottage in 2006
The property was choosen due to its location and views. In the deep countryside but near to the beneits of a large town and several small hill towns, plus easy access to a major road link.
The old farm house was completely restored followed by the new build of a guest house to replace the exixting barns.
The 3000 metres of garden were landscaped and rain water irigation installed together with a large swimming pool and vines. The latter provide ample red and white wine each year. The time spent in Marche has resulted in a firm relationship with the near neighbours and local shop and restaurant owners.
Exploring the region has been a firm favourite, mostly finding the walking routes within the Sibilini mountains.
The most often description of the property's location is its beautiful and ever changing scenery, which sits perfectly in totally peaceful surroundings.
Normally I am around during the holiday periods and will if required provide advice to my guests on the places to visit and facilities nearby.
We are two married couples, who found Casa Della Stella to be the perfect location to wind down as well as experience much of what rural Italy has to offer, which is very fine indeed. Most mornings the only sounds were bees on the lavender and birds singing; the almost total absence of planes, cars and all but the occasional hay-making tractor was a delight.
The owner Ken is a delightful character, who was pleased to point us to well-stocked and specialist stores, enchanting towns and villages, and most importantly restaurants, some of which we would never have discovered unaided. The area doesn't see many tourists so we experienced rural Italy unsullied by touristic trappings. Our almost complete lack of Italian wasn't a problem; breaking the ice with a Buon giorno or Buona sera followed by pointing and the reading of labels proved to be adequate for communication, to the amusement of all involved. We picked up Bene, Arrivederci, Ciao, Per favore, Grazie, Si, No and Mi scusi along the way.
The accommodation is very clean and ample for two couples, with a well-appointed kitchen that we used most evenings. The pool is an essential feature. And the near-total absence of light pollution means the stars are a wonder to behold.
From our breakfast table we saw a considerable variety of the local wild life, all at a respectable distance so binoculars are a must: wild pigs, deer, foxes, buzzards, kestrels, hoopoes, swallows, swifts, martins, and warblers, fly catchers and finches in great variety.
Surrounding the casa are working farms with hay, wheat, sunflowers, olives, grapevines, fruit trees and kitchen gardens for the most part. There is no livestock apart from occasional chicken and tethered sheep so there are no farmyard odors to tolerate. The casa has a garden full of bay, lavender, rosemary, sage, olive trees, vines, artichokes and many shrubs and perennials that attract bees, butterflies and other insects, though not so many that we were bothered by them. In fact, we found their constant drone to be soothing.
Of special note in the area are San Severino and it's fabulos palazzo, the Sibillini Mountains, Tolentino, San Ginesio, Urbisaglia and especially a tiny restaurant about 40 minutes drive away in Castello di Vestignano, il Picciolo di Rame.
The beach is 40 or so minutes drive and we found to be most accessible towards the south at Cupra Marittima. The sand is super-fine and the beaches well organized.
We plan to return!
This property is great. We had a long drive with much traffic but it was worth it. This cottage is more than nice. The bedrooms are large with excellent wardrobes. The bathrooms, the kitchen, lounge It's been done with a lot of attention and everything is availlable to make your holiday as pleasant as possible.
The view is stunning, you can take your breakfast in the morning outside while you're enjoying the view. The pool is perfect with seats and umbrella's.
This was an excellent location, you can go to the beach, supermarkets are not far away and if you need advice you can ask Ken. He's very helpful in suggesting things to see and visit.
This is a perfect cottage with everything you need if you want to cook yourself and enjoy the pool but you're also not far away to enjoy the Italian food (we can recommend Le Logge at Urbisaglia).
A perfect place to enjoy Italy
A beautiful, well furnished and comfortable holiday cottage in Regnano. Well situated for Sibillini National Park with excellent walking and typical hill-top villages. Good restaurants in such villages as Urbisaglia.Supermarket close at hand in Tolentino with everything you would want. Peaceful, calm and with few tourists.
The owner on site is friendly and very helpful, with useful information on places to visit. The site is well maintained with very attractive gardens and excellent swimming pool.
Ideal holiday spot for two retired couples to indulge themselves in the beauties of Le Marche. With a car (essential) the property is easily accesible from Ancona airport and the coast.
We would recommend the property for its situation, for its comfort and for its helpful owner.
This cottage is nicely decorated and equipped - the style is cozy, not too luxorious. Also the pool and the garden are very carefully taken care of. Beautiful place!
The owners live in the same property and were very helpful in suggesting things to see and places to go.
The only problem with this property is that there is no air conditioning in the house. The house is quite small and therefore it warmed up quite quickly during the day. We also missed a patio with a shade. The only place to stay outside during the sunny hours of the day was the pool area where there were proper shades.
Le Marche region is extremely beautiful. We have travelled quite a lot in Umbria and Tuscany but we found the scenery even more breathtaking in Le Marche.
This is a great property in a stunning location. The views from the house and pool over the rolling countryside are amazing. The owners are very friendly and only too willing to help with information, directions etc. There are plently of interesting places to explore within an hours drive, indluding old hilltop towns - we particularly liked Amandola (great ice cream) and Sarnano. San GInesio has all the local shops that you need if you decide to self cater and the kitchen is well equipped for this too. The Tuesday market in nearby Tolentino is good for a wander. If you want to go further afield Assissi is less than 2 hours away and well worth the trip. The property has been built and fitted out to very high standards with lovely attention to detail. You will need a car to get around and there are steps from the parking area and pool to the house. The pool is extremely well maintained and the grounds are very pretty with a lot of plants and several outside areas to sit and catch the sun. There is no TV reception, though some DVDs are provided, but a great excuse to relax and read instead. We had a really relaxing time and are reccommending it to our friends and family and will go back soon.
We are situated in le Marche near San Ginesio & Tolentino, towns offering both historic and cultural activities throughout the year, each having theatres, museums, churches and restaurants.
Le Marche has many activities to enjoy, not least of all superb walking at all levels. There are dozens of well marked routes close to the cottage and especially in the Sibillini National Park less than 30 minutes drive away. The beaches in le Marche offer something for everyone, large well equiped resorts & smaller less crowded spots. All have remarkable places to enjoy the famous fish dishes of le Marche.
In the summer months local villages & towns of le Marche put on festivals, usually with a palio, stalls, food and fireworks.
Lago Fiastra is always popular with visitors, located in the National Park it offers beautiful scenery swimming and boating.
From January le Marche has skiing available at a number of resorts based around Sarnano and Visso, which are less than an hours drive away.
Other Activities: hot air ballooning
