Luca and Letitia could not have better hosts. What a gorgeous place in the Tuscan countryside. We were there for the three days, but would have enjoyed a much longer stay. There is nothing like picking up all the fixings for a Tuscan dinner, and then enjoying it while watching the sun set over the farmlands.
The house itself is kind of a marvel. Built in the 1300's, Luca, who is an architect is building his dream house with plenty of artistic flourishes.
The pool is very nice, the hot tub could have been a little warmer. There was plenty of stuff in the kitchen in terms of pots and pans, cutlery and dishes.
Some tips: Sienna is 5 miles away, so a quick trip and is an amazing city. Vinyards surround the place, so it is not hard to find wine tasting experiences. The Coop is a great supermarket in town.
Second time was as perfect as the first....there will be more :)
The perfect hosts, the perfect setting. Absolutely no issues.....and we love William!
A lovely home in a lovely part of Italy
We arrived with two adults and three children, aged from 10-14, and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Italy. Luca was very welcoming. The home was perfect for our needs and very well maintained. We even had the luxury of 4 days with sole use of the swimming pool, which we all took advantage of! We intend to return again as this is a perfect base to explore more of Tuscany.
Relaxing holiday in Tuscany
We enjoyed our stay in San Rocco A Pilli in Sovicille - The sunflower apartment. It was spacious and comfortable, with views over the hillside. Letizia made us very welcome and showed us over the accommodation. Luca organised a wine tour for us which we enjoyed immensely. The property was not far from Siena (about 20 minute drive). We would recommend this property. John & Barbie.
We absolutely loved our stay in San rocco a pilli in Sovicille. The accommodations were amazing with a beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. It was the perfect place to relax after our whirlwind tour of Rome. We cannot say enough about our wonderful hosts, Letizia and Lucca. Letizia met us at the train station and drove us to the home, stopping along the way for us to pick up groceries. She and Lucca visited briefly that evening. The next morning Letizia picked us up and drove us to a fabulous winery in Chianti, and then gave us a tour of Siena. She is so sweet - we hated to say goodbye. If we could, we would give this place 10 stars! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Florence/Siena areas.
we are pleasure to have you in Casalta
hope to see you again
Luca And Letizia
Wonderfully welcoming hosts Luca and Letitia!
We were 2 couples staying here for 6 nights. The property is really well located - easy travelling distance to all the Chianti/Tuscan sights and also close to the supermarket and restaurants in the town. The pool is fantastic and we certainly needed it because the temperatures were so high. The facilities in the apartment were good (be aware that the showers/toilets aren't ensuite) and the environment was very quiet and relaxing. Luca and Letizia were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts and they each showed us special places in Tuscany. Even Luca's Mama brought us some of her homemade jam! And their friend's winery that we went to for tasting and lunch (Poggio Amoralli) was delicious, scenic and fair value. We had a great week, thanks!
The resort is located in the middle of the Sienese hills. The area, called Val di Merse, was settled in prehistoric times from pre-Etruscan, unspoiled nature preserves. In the Middle Ages this area was a hive of churches, monasteries and forts, which are mentioned among the Cistercian Abbey of San Galgano many dating from the early thirteenth century. A short distance away we meet: 7 km Siena, San Gimignano 50 km, Pienza 60 km, 10 km the Crete Senesi, heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Also nearby we Murlo 5 km village of Etruscan origin, Monteriggioni and 15 km the famous medieval castle by Dante (Inf. XXXI, 41), Colle di Val d 'Elsa, 20 km the world capital of the crystal with its center perfectly preserved, Montepulciano 65 km, 50 km land of Brunello Montalcino, Chianti, with its villages, farms, castles and vineyards. Besides these places, universally known, who is less interested in the routes frequented by tourists, but no less fascinating and suggestive, it can reach (by bicycle): the Abbey of St. Galgano and the Chapel of Montesiepi, the Cloister of the Abbey towers, the churches in Rosia, Ponte allo Spino, Molli, Marmoraia, Pievescola, Mensano Lecceto and the hermitages of S. Leonardo al Lago, the castles of Montarrenti, Celsa, Belcaro, medieval village of Stigliano. For these locations we can arrange guided tours, wine tasting. For total relaxation are present in the immediate vicinity, spa, SPA Budha. Golf Course.
