Why Norman Kulba chose Central Minneapolis

For a decade 300 Clifton languished looking for an owner. Vines and trees obfuscated the property and grew in broken windows. But after two years of renovation, the Grand Old House is back to looking as it did in its glory days at the turn of the last century.

Now it is accessible to travelers and visitors from around the world, who want a unique experience, not a cookie cutter hotel. The house is designed for big groups and end entertaining, so get your creative juices flowing and organize an English Tea Party themed Bridal shower, or Great Gatsby Reception. Best of all, the elite guests can stay at the mansion, so what normally would be a 4 hour event, becomes an entire weekend to remember.

Great get-away for four families!

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property not only for the beauty of the property but also because of its location near the MOA and the ability we had to get all of our families together in one place.

The property is beautiful! There is plenty of room for a large group - we had eighteen. The rooms are wonderfully restored. There is so much history sprinkled throughout the building. The dining room was perfect for meals, discussions and for board games; but the latter could move to the floor of the drawing room too. The fireplace in the parlor was such a nice touch. This room was so inviting and comfortable! The adults retired there in the evening. The hot tub was perfect after a great meal together too.

We brought our own food and each family made a meal. The only negative I would record was that there was little dedicated space in the refrigerator for our group. We had a lot of food and drink. Thankfully we had cooler space and it was cold outdoors.

One of the owners and Madonna spent a lot of time with us which was greatly appreciated. He even took a fabulous picture which we made into commemorative magnets.

Absolutely beautiful.

Norman helped us immensely throughout our stay. We hosted most of our family at the mansion for the weekend of our wedding. Everything went quite smoothly. Norman was able to fix any small glitch that we had.

Charming, Historic, and Owned by Lovely People

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at 300 Clifton several times over the past few years. It has been interesting and endearing watching the owners' loving restoration of the mansion and its grounds.

When we got engaged, we decided to have our wedding at 300 Clifton, and could not have chosen a better venue. We rented both the mansion and the carriage house for our guests, and the variety of warm, public spaces throughout both buildings was enjoyed by all. We were able to seat a total of 24 people quite comfortably for both the ceremony and reception, and most guests also spent the weekend at the B&B.

The highlight of the venue, however, was John's (one of the owners) careful attention to detail. He was behind the scenes, quiet and unassuming, and such a treasured and helpful addition to our day. He conducted a tour of the property during the social hour after the ceremony, and it was clear that our guests loved him as well.

If you are considering a quiet, warm, inviting space to book a getaway with a group of old friends, this is the perfect place for you. The rooms have character, and the mansion has many comfortable spaces to enjoy and share. It also is not a long commute to sights in downtown Minneapolis, and 300 Clifton is in a very walkable neighborhood during the warmer months.

Great wedding weekend at 300 Clifton!

  • 5 of 5

We had our son's wedding on the front porch with about 150 guests at 300 Clifton. Our family stayed in the main house and our son fiance's family stayed in the Carriage house. We did the rehearsal dinner on the covered porch and everything was amazing.

Norman and John were great hosts. They were around when we needed them and visiting with them was great fun. Madonna the Great Dane was also a fun part of our stay.

We were able to decorate and work around the house as needed to make it a perfect venue for the wedding. It was a beautiful spot, great setting, convenient and everything we could have hoped for.

As a place to stay it was also great. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Very welcoming to our family and guests.

My entire family would highly recommend staying at 300 Clifton! We plan to visit again soon!

Beautiful home in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We recently hosted a large group at the house for my son's wedding. All of the out of town guests stayed here and we had the rehearsal dinner at the house. The accommodations for guests were comfortable and we had this unbelievable house to spread out in. We had lovely weather so spent a ton of time on the porch where we also had a great rehearsal dinner. John and Norman were very gracious and helped us with whatever we needed, but did not get in our way. The location of the house was also perfect so everyone could explore the sculpture garden, Loring Park and downtown Minneapolis on foot. Everyone loved it. This is a great home and we would highly recommend it for a big group.

Great place. Gorgeous and more work being done. Very accommodating!!! to our group.

  • 4 of 5

Just a few FYI for those looking-- nothing to not make me stay there---Has large dog and cat that were very friendly and didn't bother us but not noted on website anywhere and owners live in house too and that was not noted anywhere and their rooms are beside guest rooms. Overall it was great. No AC in main floor and did not know that until arrival and had booked the house so didn't get to utilize the amazing rooms as much if there had been fans around -do have ceiling fans- we did move a fan around ourselves. It is a gorgeous home. And the carriage house was done very cute with real 1930? taxi cab in game room. The owners are beyond accommodating. Such a fantastic atmosphere to the home.
