Why Norman Kulba chose Central Minneapolis

For a decade 300 Clifton languished looking for an owner. Vines and trees obfuscated the property and grew in broken windows. But after two years of renovation, the Grand Old House is back to looking as it did in its glory days at the turn of the last century.

Now it is accessible to travelers and visitors from around the world, who want a unique experience, not a cookie cutter hotel. The house is designed for big groups and end entertaining, so get your creative juices flowing and organize an English Tea Party themed Bridal shower, or Great Gatsby Reception. Best of all, the elite guests can stay at the mansion, so what normally would be a 4 hour event, becomes an entire weekend to remember.

Beautiful mansion, great accommodatons, super nice hosts.

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 12. We loved being able to hang out together in the common rooms of the house and on the porch overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden. It was very relaxing in the morning having coffee and bagels/drinks in the evening - no curfews. Very safe and fun environment. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice. The beds were comfortable- top quality sheets and towels. Great mix of the old and new. John and Norman were very attentive to our needs, checking in/questions about the area, things to do, etc.. Very gracious hosts. Definitely recommend this property if you are looking for an affordable alternative to a hotel.

Great stay during show at convention center

  • 5 of 5

My colleagues and I enjoyed our stay at 300 Clifton. In town for a trade show, we reserved all seven bedrooms in the main house. The house is unique and extremely convenient to the Minneapolis convention center and allowed for a short commute each morning and afternoon. This was especially valuable in light of all the downtown freeway construction. The accommodations were one of a kind and very relaxing. The staff was accessible and helpful if needed. Would definitely consider another stay in the future.

Beautifully Restored Mansion for a Fairy Tale Wedding

  • 5 of 5

We rented out this mansion as the venue for our wedding. With an additional event fee we were able to host 75-80 people comfortably for the event. We chose the mansion partially because of the beautiful furnishings and gardens (we didn't have to decorate much at all). We were also able to bring in our own cake, select our own caterer, and supply our own beer and wine. Huge perks for the wedding planning aspect. Tours were given during the event to occupy our guests during photos. Overall we couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our big day. Thank you Norm & John for being such wonderful hosts! We truly enjoyed our weekend with you.

Great get-away for four families!

  • 5 of 5

We chose this property not only for the beauty of the property but also because of its location near the MOA and the ability we had to get all of our families together in one place.

The property is beautiful! There is plenty of room for a large group - we had eighteen. The rooms are wonderfully restored. There is so much history sprinkled throughout the building. The dining room was perfect for meals, discussions and for board games; but the latter could move to the floor of the drawing room too. The fireplace in the parlor was such a nice touch. This room was so inviting and comfortable! The adults retired there in the evening. The hot tub was perfect after a great meal together too.

We brought our own food and each family made a meal. The only negative I would record was that there was little dedicated space in the refrigerator for our group. We had a lot of food and drink. Thankfully we had cooler space and it was cold outdoors.

One of the owners and Madonna spent a lot of time with us which was greatly appreciated. He even took a fabulous picture which we made into commemorative magnets.

Absolutely beautiful.

Norman helped us immensely throughout our stay. We hosted most of our family at the mansion for the weekend of our wedding. Everything went quite smoothly. Norman was able to fix any small glitch that we had.

Charming, Historic, and Owned by Lovely People

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at 300 Clifton several times over the past few years. It has been interesting and endearing watching the owners' loving restoration of the mansion and its grounds.

When we got engaged, we decided to have our wedding at 300 Clifton, and could not have chosen a better venue. We rented both the mansion and the carriage house for our guests, and the variety of warm, public spaces throughout both buildings was enjoyed by all. We were able to seat a total of 24 people quite comfortably for both the ceremony and reception, and most guests also spent the weekend at the B&B.

The highlight of the venue, however, was John's (one of the owners) careful attention to detail. He was behind the scenes, quiet and unassuming, and such a treasured and helpful addition to our day. He conducted a tour of the property during the social hour after the ceremony, and it was clear that our guests loved him as well.

If you are considering a quiet, warm, inviting space to book a getaway with a group of old friends, this is the perfect place for you. The rooms have character, and the mansion has many comfortable spaces to enjoy and share. It also is not a long commute to sights in downtown Minneapolis, and 300 Clifton is in a very walkable neighborhood during the warmer months.
