After purchasing the property in 1996, for several years we "commuted" from the UK for DIY/renovation holidays (!) until we decided we preferred life in France and so moved permanently. We're sure you'll love it as much as we do... As we live close by, we are available to help you enjoy your holiday, so can help with advice on places to visit, restaurants, shopping, doctors etc.
John purchased this Farmhouse in 1996
Why John chose Villetoureix
We chose the property because of its peaceful location in the countryside, yet conveniently close to town for shopping etc. Ribérac is a sleepy rural town for most of the week, so avoiding the crowds, yet comes alive on Friday morning for the market, which is the biggest in the Dordogne. There are plenty of tourist attractions to visit in the area, many within an hour's drive and open outside of July and August, when you can drag yourselves away from the pool! And of course you can't forget the views!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The spa and sauna add a touch of luxury to your holiday, and together with the pool, terraces and games field, there is something for everyone. The pizza oven has been very popular with all our guests, with everyone having a go at baking their own pizza. As all bedlinen and towels are supplied, you can avoid the huge pile of washing at the end of your holiday, plus of course it's very convenient if you are travelling by plane. All in all, an ideal holiday location, with many of our guests returning regularly. We hope you'll love it too.

WOW!!! Truly magnificent house, excellent facilities and highly recommended.
From first enquiries John and Lesley couldn't have been more helpful. The house was easy to find with the superb directions and helpful information sent prior to our visit.
On arrival we were blown away by the property. It is absolutely beautiful, and so well furnished and maintained. The kitchen has every conceivable dish, cup, glass, cutlery, utensil and gadget you can imagine. For a family with 2 chefs it was a dream to not have to sharpen the kitchen knives!
The beds were the comfiest we have experienced on all our travels and the library of books (fiction, non fiction, biographies, cook books and local tourist information) was HUGE!!
AND then there's the gardens....
The pool is fantastic and despite the weather not being brilliant during our stay we still managed a dip nearly every day due to the solar heating. There are more than enough loungers, chairs, cushions and parasols. A huge outside dining area is excellently positioned and the BBQ is huge.
We used the hot tub on several occasions due to the weather and it was a dream. Unfortunately we never got round to using the sauna but the hubby now has plans to build one at home...
We used the pizza oven too (which also has another huge dining area) on several occasions and was easy to use, and the box provided contained all the necessary items and instructions needed for successful pizza making!
We played table tennis and badminton and the kids loved the swings.
John and Lesley were easily contactable and provided invaluable assistance when we had to visit the local GP and then A&E with the baby during our stay. Thankfully there was nothing seriously wrong and our holiday continued on without a hitch.
We will definitely consider returning in the future, along with extended family, to enjoy the facilities provided in this beautiful place.
Many thanks to John and Lesley for so much thought and care that has gone into providing families with a real home from home x
The nearest village is Villetoureix, 1.5 miles/2.4km away, with its bar/restaurant and village shop with daily bread deliveries. A trip to Bordeaux, the impressive UNESCO city is worth a trip, as well as the ramparts at Angouleme, famous as an old racing circuit and lastly the circuit of local churches, "églises à coupoles" in the surrounding area.
For museum visits: Le Bournat, experience family life in 1900; Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, middle ages war museum; Futuroscope, museum of the moving image; Medicine museum at Hautefort; Oradour, the martyr village from WW2.
