About Owner/Property Manager

We are recently retired and have enjoyed living on 15 acres in the mountain for the past 10 years watching the ever-changing vista of the valley below. This location has the best views of the Potomac River in all of Morgan County. We speak English and Spanish fluently and will do our best to ensure your stay is perfect in every way.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Great Cacapon

We purchased this property as a retirement home and an opportunity to get close to nature. It is very quiet and secluded and situated on a private road. There are two hiking trails available through the woods; and being a Master Naturalist, I am more than happy to escort you on any hikes, if desired, and point out the local fauna. We are building a collection of local ferns and have several fern gardens, as well as a day lilies garden, and a certified butterfly garden/Monarch way station. The back deck has as much square footage as the house, and is complete with lounge chairs, an outside dining table and chairs, umbrellas, and BBQ grill to help you relax as you enjoy the ever changing views.

What makes this cabin unique

This property is all about the view, being close to nature, and the zen-ful solitude. The cabin is very modern and clean with all the amenities required to thoroughly enjoy your stay. We are happy to work with you if need flowers, chocolates, cheese plate, special wine, etc. while celebrating your special occasion.

Grab someone you love and share this killer spot before it gets booked. What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

Sweet views during the day, sublime and awesome Milky Way at night, but the real stunner is the valley below overwhelmed by fog in the morning. A real cut above the crowd kind of spot. We'll be back to enjoy the fall colors!

Nice little touches in the kitchen, bath, and bedding make it intuitively homey, but the deck is what rocks. You'll spend most of your day time watching hummingbirds and goldfiches switch past the lazy Potomac, and grab a blanket to count satellites at night.

Beautiful View!

We only stayed one night, but the cabin was adorable and the view was amazing. The Owner always responded to inquiries immediately and added a personal touch by leaving us a Happy Anniversary note with wine and snacks. Would love to stay again if we're in the area.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

A Walk in the Clouds could not have been any better or more appropriately named.Due to an unsettled weather pattern we got to experience the panoramic views and then watch in awe as the clouds moved in and encompassed us! It was the best sky show ever and there was not a bad seat in the house (views from bed and couch)! The “cabin” itself was perfect. It was spotless, exceptionally comfortable and so well thought out! Everything we needed or even just wanted was right where it should be! From clothing hooks on walls and reading lamps to explicit instructions for TV and DVD to directions for hikes. We hope to return to this awesome retreat and maybe we’ll get to experience “A Walk in the Stars” this time. Thank you for sharing your heavenly home with us!! Susan and Cathy

GREAT CABIN GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful scenic view. So peaceful and quiet, you just can not help but to sit back and enjoy the mountain view. The cabin is very clean, all the comforts of home but out in the wilderness.

Absolutely Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was wonderful!!! The cabin exceeded expectations. It was so beautiful and super clean!. Keith was so thoughtful leaving cheese, crackers and a bottle of wine for our 25th wedding anniversary. The views were awesome and even though it rained most if the time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. One of the best places we ever stayed. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful cabin nestled in the mountains with breathtaking views. Beyond wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at a Walk in the Clouds last weekend was amazing. The cabin is gorgeous and new. The deck off the back is huge with two tables and 2 lounge chairs, which we use to catch some rays in the day and gaze at the stars at night. The views are out of this world. The morning brings cool clouds in the valley with array of sunrise color casting over. The evening brings amazing sunsets that have ever changing colors. There is nature and wildlife all around. Keith and Frine go above and beyond to make this hideaway the perfect little place to get away from it all. They left detail maps on biking trails I inquired about. They left us a nice welcoming gift of snacks and a bottle of wine. Kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots/pans, Tupperware & anything else you would need to whip up a nice dish. You do need to bring everything you want for eating and drinking. There is an ice maker in the fridge. They also leave nice little shampoos, conditioner, lotion and soap to use. There is a hairdryer and clothes iron if you need. The only thing I didn’t find were matches to light the chimnea.

We can’t wait to come back in the fall to check out the seasonal color. This place is a definite must if you love to relax and take in the great outdoors.
