Very quiet, confidential - all inclusive

Located 600m away from the Saint-Remy-de-Provence town centre, this single-storey villa is located in a peaceful residential district. This house has many advantages: it is close to the town centre, it has leisure equipment such as a pool, a petanque court, a tennis table, bikes availabe, Wi-Fi, Canal+ and a film library.

About 10 min away by walking from the Saint-Remy-de-Provence town centre, 20 min drive away from Avignon TGV and 50 min away from the Marseille International Airport.

The single-storey house includes 140sq.m of living space, a beautiful lounge with comfortable space, a contemporary and cosy decoration, opened to the inner dining room. It also includes an equipped kitchen. The main bedroom leading to the pool is equipped with a 180 cm bed and shares its separate bathroom (basin and bath) with a second bedroom that can be adjusted depending on the choice into a double bedroom with a 180 cm bed or two 2 x 90 cm beds and separate toilet. The third one is also a bedroom with a 180cm large bed that could be turn into a twins 2x90cm with an en-suite shower room, toilet and basin.

You will find a laundry with washing machine and dryer.

The studio has a renovated (May 2015) air conditionned separate bedroom with king size bed 180cm that could be split into twins bed, a shower room with basin and toilet. Shaded Terrace with light, table and chairs.

You will find a 1000sq.m garden with trees, pool, and surrounded by Mediterranean essences. You will have a summer dining room under the pergola shaded by a wisteria as well as a gaz barbecue.

Safety and equipment include: television, DVD player, stereo system with I-pod stand, CD player, high speed Wi-Fi/internet connection, Canal+ and. bikes are available. You will find a tennis table. It includes an automatic gate, a car park for three cars, an alarm, a petanque court and air-conditioning in the main room and the main bedroom as well as in the independent studio.

The pool is secured for children by a fence.

Why Julien chose Alpilles

Saint Rémy de Provence is THE village of the Alpilles area. Of course, others are beautiful also, and you have to visit them, but St Rémy is the most popular with lots of restaurants and shops, and even a great authentic and provencal atmosphere, little village places full of charm, and still quiet (except during wednesday morning as it is a famous and very well known provencal market).

Saint Rémy is also ideal as a basis to visit Provence, close by the TGV train station of Avignon (20 minutes) that offer direct line to Paris in 2H30, St rémy ios also 45 minutes from Marseille international airport.

What makes this house unique

The great points :

Before offering this villa for rent, we used to live in for about a complete year, and we have experienced this very quiet surrounding, while it is very clos to town. We love its garden plenty of charm and we maintain it at its best level. There is a cherry tree plenty of fruits during May-begining of June, an abricot tree for July, and a figue tree for September, as well as a vigne in September/October also !

The house is very well built with a perfect thermal insulation (double insulated walls, 30cm of glass wool over head, double glazed windows..) so we do not suffer at all from warmth. Also, there is an air conditioning system in the living room and the master bedroom for the most hard top please.

We do improve the house and its equipments all year long, and pay great attention to its maintenance. Everything is working good and we do love it very much !

A delightful house

The house is lovely and a real home from home ! Using the beautiful shutters ensured the house was lovely and cool inside even though hot outside. The garden and pool are very pretty and dining al fresco under the cannopy was a delight. The house is nicely decorated , comfortable and well equipped . It even has its own laundry room and a good selection of bicycles! Julien and Laetitia are very responsive and helpful . Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are keen to ensure your stay is a good experience .

Beautiful Home and wonderful holiday

We stayed for 2 weeks and loved both the house and the garden and its pool. It is exactly as the pictures depict and the village is a 5 minute walk so perfect for those who want the village experience without having to take a car. More importantly, the level of service from Julien from the begining and throughout the holiday was impeccable and very reassuring coming from abroad. Before, during and after our rental time, Julien was very quick to respond to any inquiries.

The house itself is very comfortable and very quiet despite being so close to the center of the village. All is in good working order and clean. The garden is perfect with or without children (our children are good swimmers so there was not need to close the gate but there is a fence). The cleaning lady, Latetia, is very friendly and knows the house well.

I would strongly recommend not using the dryer as there is a clothes line and with the mistral (wind), the clothes dry very quickly.

Eating outside is a pleasure although we only found a small tablecloth which did not cover completely the table and the barbecue is different vs the ones in north america but it is relatively easy to use and cooked the meat / vegetables quite well).

Restaurants: a quick piece of advice for those travelling with children and not from Europe: the french eat dinner around 8pm vs. North America which is 6pm so we made our kids eat beforehand, ie. 6pm, and then headed out to the restaurant where they would eat a smaller meal and we could enjoy our dinner.

For people with Allergies (our youngest has a severe nut and raw egg allergy and needs an Epi-Pen): first, there is nothing on food packaging that indicates it is peanut -free (unlike in North America) so read the ingredients and if you see "fruits a coque" that means it may have been in contact with nuts. Secondly, much of what is fried is in peanut oil (yes, even those beloved fries) so becareful and ask your waiter. Overall, despite my child's allergies, it did not prevent us from going to restaurants.

And for those looking for break from cooking, there is La Pintade Chaponnee which has prepared meals (I am told made by the owner's mother...very good and fresh and the people were very friendly).

Beautiful house in a great location

The house is very comfortable, spacious and with a lovely garden and pool. It is well located just a few minutes walk from the centre of town but still in a quiet area. St Remy is a great base for day trips but is itself an interesting and attractive town. We were welcomed by Julien who was delightful and the overall experience of our stay was excellent.

Wonderful accommodation in a great location

Maison du pegamas is a delightful property in a quiet but convenient location. It accommodated 3 couples very comfortably and the garden is absolutely delightful to sit out in during the evenings. We all had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this property to groups as it has everything you would need for a relaxing holiday.

˙Long term winter rent

This was the perfect place for us to spend 6 months in Provence. The Gecko is faultless, plenty of space, comfy beds, masses of hot water, excellent heating, well appointed kitchen, charming verander, wonderful house keeper Laetitia who does everything with a smile, a perfect landlord who is available at all times to help and give advise. The bicycles are brillient and makes going into town fun. Restaurants are excellent, shopping is excellent, the historical sites to visit in the area are excellent and the famous Wednesday marché in st. Remy is more than excellent. There is no doubt in our minds that the Gecko is THE place to be at any time of the year for a true Provençal experience. You will not be dissapointed.

Perfect

Julien was a great host who went well beyond the call of duty. The house is even better than described, very comfortable with all the conveniences that make a stay so easy. The location was great. We could walk into town every day for our bread or dinner and it was easy to get to other areas we wanted to visit. We joked that we could only bother Julien with 3 text messages a day but he kept his humor with all our questions. AF lost my luggage and Julien was available to receive it when it was delivered four days later! We would definitely stay here again.
