EXPLANATION OF PROPERTY LAYOUT...Groundfloor apartment sleeping 4 adults in detached private villa available beginning April until end of July. Whole Villa including apartment available throught August sleeping up to 10 adults, (apartment will not be rented separately through August) then apartment only available again September onwards,

With the apartment you get full use of all pool area and outdoor terracing. The upstairs main villa will be occupied only by the owners, two adults with no children.

In August the whole villa is available to rent as one unit sleeping up to 10 adults.

Our villa is situated in a very popular part of Moraira. It is an honest 10-15min walk down measured at 1km. Though if you wanted to get a taxi home after an evening out, you would be only looking at about 6 euros.

You can choose different routes to walk down to Moraira and if you go the long way (1.2km) then you can take the coast road where you can appreciate the beautiful views right across the beach, harbour, and across to the castle....It really is lovely, and only a little bit further. If you take this route, you will also pass a variety of shops, restaurants, including one of the best Indian Restaurants around, well worth a visit.

Moraira itself has a lovely sandy beach, and if you take the coast road into Moraira, you will also pass a smaller sandy beach closer to the villa. If you fancy a change of scenery you can continue through Moraira following the road around to El Portet where there are a number of small cafes and a small beach. There's not much room to sunbathe here, but it is pretty, and we like to go in the morning for a coffee before things get too busy. The sea here is very shallow, good for children.

There is a big market every friday in Moraira. You will find fresh fruit, fish, meat and cheese stalls, plus clothing, leather goods, and much much more. It is a very good market used by the locals as well as tourists, so well worth a visit. It is located in the centre of Moraira and parking can get busy. Our villa is ideally placed within walking distance, so you can easily get there without having to worry about parking spaces!

Moraira has many good restaurants offering an array of cuisines from around the world. In the summer you may be surprised that many restaurants stay open well beyond midnight so you can take in the last of the day's sunshine before venturing out in the evening if you wish.

Moraira is far from a rowdy resort, but we do have a few late night bars, and a proper open air nightclub a mile or 2 outside the centre for those of you who fancy a few more drinks and a little dance! The bars and clubs are actually pretty good, so if you do want a late night you can have one, and if you want a quiet night, you won't be disturbed.

From the villa, if you walk down to the coast road and walk away from Moraira (turn right at the coast road), you will soon reach L'Andrago (approx 1km from Casa Alessa) this is another beautiful little cove with bars, restaurants, cafes and the odd shop. The Austrian Cafe is highly recommended for a morning coffee and pastry!

If you continue past there a couple of minutes more, you reach a large Mas Y Mas Supermarket, and a little further again gets you up to Pepe La Sal another large supermarket. This area is San Jaime and the Golf course is located nearby.

The coast road from here to Calpe is full of twists and turns as it navigates around the beaches, coves and valleys. If you drive to the Tourist Information Centre (clearly labelled white building on left hand side of road as you head from Moraira to Calpe) then park up, and take a walk along the waters edge foot path. It's a lovely walk, and you can stop off for a drink or spot of lunch along the way at the sports harbour.

If you want to venture out in the car then call over to Javea, the old town is very nice, and the beach is long wide and sandy. Or maybe travel up to Denia, a large port where there are ferries across to Ibiza.

If you fancy a trek further away, then the City of Valencia is about an hours drive away...whatever you fancy doing, Moraira is a great base to start. You are only about 30mins drive from the water parks and theme parks of Benidorm, yet at the same time if you want a peaceful holiday, time away from it all, then you will get all you want from Casa Alessa.

Most people do hire a car when they stay in Moraira, but there are a couple of shuttle services which can be good value for money depending on how many are travelling. We can send details.

Once at our villa, it is NOT necessary to have a car.

Now managed and maintained by us personally, no 3rd parties involved and we are only 30mins away from you during your stay if you need us!

About Lisa & Alex Childs

Originally from the UK, Alex & Lisa began looking to Spain for a potential holiday home back in 2010. They stumbled across the beautiful Moraira coastline and knew it was the place for them. After a year of looking at all types of villas and houses, they came across the now Casa Alessa. Now living in Spain full time they have spent many an hour renovating the property and offer it all year round to holiday makers who want to enjoy the peacefulness, while still being a pleasant short walk into Moraira Town which is so important. During the Summer months they stay in Javea Old Town and enjoy practising their spanish with the locals! They continue to work through the summer across Moraira & Javea as fitness instructors offering classes to residents and tourists in the area. Moving to Spain for them was more about quality of life and having time for each other and although only arriving in November 2012, they definitely feel like it is home.

Why Lisa & Alex Childs chose Moraira

When the property was bought, it had been left empty for over 30 years. The previous owner had decided that Spain was not for him and had returned home leaving the house and it´s land abandoned. There was no boundary wall and many locals had even used it for dog walking due to the size of the plot! We knew the property and land had bags of potential and jumped at the chance to bring her back to her former glory. All the features inside the house have been restored lovingly to ensure it keeps its original charm and style. Our first job though, was to tackle the plot and the 180 pine trees that had to be removed to make space for the new pool and gardens, allowing the beautiful Costa Blanca Sunshine to reach the house! Over 100m of new boundary wall was build to secure the plot and new a new terrace was built to make the most of the 10 x 5m pool! Inside as well as the original features, we decided to install a second bathroom to the master bedroom as we felt it would be important for guests. During Spring 2013 we made the decision to undertake the next phase of converting the ground floor of the property into an additional 2 bed, 2 en suite bathroomed area for guests. This separate apartment will be available from October 2013 for guests who only need a couple of nights stay, as well as offering the whole 5 bed 4 bath villa in the Summer 2014. Going forward we are looking to enhance the house further with the additional of an additional terrace at the back of the pool, a private balcony off the master bedroom with sea views, as well as converting additional space under the house for a gym and leisure facilities. The garden is also now taking shape but with over 1800sqm of plot there will always be plenty still to keep us busy!

What makes this villa unique

Casa Alessa is a rare find. After well over a year of searching for something we could call home, she came on the market and we put our offer in the same day! From the minute we walked into the house we could see the potential and charm that would make it a place to enjoy all year round. Our journey has only just started with 2013 being our second year owning the home. Builders have been in and out most of these 2 short years and we continue to enhance the property so that each year our guests can enjoy even more of what she has to offer. This year the Garden is now boasting Fig, Lemon, Orange, Plum, Pear trees which have bedded in, as well as a number of small rockery areas for plants and ivy to take hold and give the grounds some additional shade and colour. Internally the house is full of dark wood beams, white washed walls & the original terracotta tiles plus all the original features which keeps the soul of the house intact. It was important for us that we maintained the original Spanish style of living and not strip the home back to a bland, minimalist space.

We have invested in good quality furntiure both indoors and out, and pride ourselves on replenishing all linens, towels, bedding, pots, pans and cutlery at the start of each rental season and have enlisted the help of a very professional and meticulous Spanish cleaning company to ensure that our guests arrive to a beautifully clean house and have the most enjoyable stay with us.

Moraira is a lovely town nestled on the beautiful Costa Blanca about half way between Alicante and Valencia. It has everything you could need from a holiday destination...

There are several sandy beaches, a lovely harbour, many fantastic restaurants offering a wide choice of cuisines, a good weekly market, golf, water sports.....yet at the same time it keeps a quaint picturesque feel about itself.

There are often outdoor concerts and fiestas happening in the Church Square, so you may be lucky enough to catch one of them during your stay.

Casa Alessa is set within walking distance of all the attractions Moraira has to offer, which means you can get through your stay without the use of a car at all. There are plenty of taxis and several bus services if you wanted to explore a little further afield.

You can fly to either Alicante or Valencia airports, Alicante tends to have more flights and tends to be cheaper as EasyJet, Jet2, Monarch, Ryan Air etc all fly into Alicante. There is also now a company running direct shuttles from Alicante Airport to Moraira. We can give you details of this service.
