A magical weekend in beautiful France
We stayed for a long weekend as a family of six, including 3 children 10, 9 and 8 at the start of August. The house is just divine. Everything you could think of is available in the kitchen, the bedrooms are all huge and have their own fans which were much needed in the hot August sun. Outside in the garden there is a very good sized pool which we all enjoyed. The living room which leads straight out to the garden is airy and surprisingly cool. A real bonus is the satellite tv meaning we could watch British tv all weekend. The house is conveniently positioned for all your needs in the town. The bakery and small grocery shop are about 2 mins away and about 15 mins walk to the large supermarket. We didn't rent a car and travelled from narbonne in a taxi which was about €30.
Jonathan and Jill were excellent in their communications with us before and during our stay. Their responses to my many queries were practically instantaneous. We would all thoroughly recommend this house. Thank you Jonathan and Jill for renting us your house, it was perfect from start to end.
The surrounding region of Occitanie has many attractions and some of these are listed below:
The city of Carcassonne, with all its medieval splendour is a must-visit site.
The city of Narbonne is even older than Carcassonne, dating back to Roman times and you can still see parts of the Domitian Way (an ancient Roman road) in the city. It has many interesting streets and shops, with a throng of cafes alongside the canal. There is the open air market but also Les Halles, a covered market full of tempting food smells
The Mediterranean Sea is just 30 minutes drive away and there are many excellent beaches - from Narbonne Plage, Cap d'Agde and Sète to quieter beaches at Gruissan, Marseillan and Leucate.
If you are looking to go cycling while you are here we can arrange bicycle hire through the local hire firm, Mellow Velos. They provide cycles, give you route maps, pick you and the bikes up and drop you off where you want - they offer a very flexible and helpful service.
