The apartment is really beautiful, so calm and tasteful. Really good to habe individual bathrooms. Nice balcony with seating and shared pool which was a nice way to cool off.
Quick 10 minute walk into town and also 3 mins from metro.
Really can't fault it...highly recommneded.
Old Town Lisbon Alfama District
Great apartment in Alfama district of Lisbon. Short access to S. Jorge Castle and 15 min car ride to most mueseums, tower of Belem, Jernoimo monastery etc. The pool and roof top deck was never busy and a great way to wind down after a day of trekking through Lisbon. Apartment fronts onto a gentrified courtyard with three cafes serving lunch and dinner. There is parking around the neighbourhood, we never had a problem but it is take what you get. It is pay parking and the apartments offer no parking.
Across the street is Ramiro seafood restaurant, we ate there and enjoyed the food; however, it is tourist oriented and therefore expect to walk to front door, pull a ticket tab and wait 1 hour for a table, service is good, food is good but only seafood, so if you want a side salad or fries etc.. no chance. Also ambiance is lacking because they turn so many tables over due to the crowds,,, think restaurant / factory. A 4 min walk up the street on the same side is: A Marisqueira do Lis seafood restaurant which serves the same seafood equally as good and 20% cheaper. No pull tabs and minimal line ups. We figured out - The tourists go to Ramiro, the locals go to: Marisqueira do Lis. Also you can order side salads, fries, a steak etc at do Lis.
One block down the street from apartment is a Metro supermarket to pick up the basics it will do and has a good selection of everything you will need.
One complaint about the apartment is that they do not state the room cleaning schedule on line. *** if you stay 8 days or more, on the fourth day, your room gets cleaned and you get fresh towels and a refill of toilet paper. Less than 8 days.. you are totally on your own, so expect to buy toilet paper, and keep the same towels for 5-6 days carry your garbage and recyclables to the cleaning staff room, etc. Anything below 8 days and they do not clean your apartment what so ever.' In the elevator there is a sign stating they clean every second day, management told me this is an error and they will change the sign'. Also the building backs onto a somewhat small section of busy/nightlife restaurant area so there will be yells, bottle throwing and drunk screams and loud conversations in the early morning hours but its not that bad. We slept well all nights.
Overall i would stay in the apartment again without hesitation but also aware of the cleaning schedule. In our apartment we had a washing machine to wash the towels. Apartments are well provided overall.
