Guestbook comments from the owner

Nice view

Great locality

Good value

Close to the market

This apartment is as good as it looked in the photos. We really appreciated the garden right off the street with a great 'English' view from the window overlooking the church and nice white 19th century houses.

We were surpised at how close it was to get downtown - Soho and Kensington High Street were less than 20 minutes away. Travel was expensive until we discovered Oyster cards and we had a great time visiting Greenwich, Kew gardens and Tate Modern. Portobello market on Saturday was our favourite place to hang out.

Arriving on early morning flight meant we had to wait for the check-in time but Bella was helpful while we waited.

Both the flat and the area met our needs for a great 8 nday holiday.

Wonderful flat & excellent location!

  • 4 of 5

The flat was wonderful, very charming and well kept. The location was very convenient for us. We were traveling with a baby and the Neighborhood had lots of great areas for stroller walks. Portebello market was such a bonus. The pictures do not do the place justice. Karen was great to work with, very accommodating, respectful and available to whatever we needed. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Life in a Notting Hill Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a great vacation in this Notting Hill Neighborhood. The 2 room flat has just about everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen area has all the necessary appliances and also includes a small, efficient washing machine. The flat includes books, guides, CDs, and TV for entertainment. The big windows afford wonderful light with a view of the property's garden grounds right outside the windows. The tall ceilings add to the flat's sense of space. The nearby neighborhood village offers essentials, groceries, bakeries, dining options, and the great Portobello Market all within walking distance. London's world class subway and bus services are within 5-10 minutes walks. It was great base to explore London by day and return home to a comfortable flat at night. Karen always provided us with timely responses to questions, and suggestions to enjoy our stay.

Perfect Notting Hill Location & To-Die-For View of All Saints Church

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location! Lovely apartment and lovely gardens with a to-die-for view of All Saints Church. Right near Portobello Road with its markets, pubs, bakeries, restaurants, cinema and eclectic stores. Right in the middle of all the Notting Hill Carnival activities, in case you're interested in that. Short walk to beautiful Kensington Gardens, relaxing Kyoto Gardens and easy access to Notting Hill Gate station.

The owner, Karen, was incredibly helpful - making sure we knew how to get to the apartment, what restaurants she and other guests recommend, with transportation suggestions, etc. Everything you need for your stay is in the apartment. Quite clean and efficient. Good safety. In fact, during the Notting Hill Carnival, they had marvelous security for all the guests. Close to Sainsbury and Tesco groceries, several pharmacies, etc. Would love to stay here again.

The flat was perfect for us! It was bright , modern and very comfortable. It was a bonus being close to Porobello Road. I also very much enjoyed the garden in front. We'd love to stay again next visit to London.

Dirty, disappointing and needing TLC

  • 1 of 5

We were very disappointed in this place specially since the reviews were good. We found the place to be needing some work and surprised anyone would rent this place out. It was like staying in a college apartment. Could use some fresh paint, a deep cleaning, some spakle on the wall to cover nail holes. The couch is so terribly uncomfortable. This is not a nice relaxing apartment to come back to after a long day. Very small TV. Wires all over the place. The bed is terrible and if the person sleeping on the inside needs to get up they have to climb over you. It is very noisy next to main door entrance and thin walls. There is no where to put your stuff because the owner has so much of their belongings in closets and cupboards. The place was dirty when we arrived. I had to clean everything. I kept finding hair every where. There was water left over in a very iron scaled kettle. Cobwebs in the shower. The owner wasn't even in town. They had someone else who was very nice meet us to let us in. But all she did was say instructions are on the table if you need anything the owners are not around so she said contact her she guessed. We have stayed at many European apartments and this was very disappointing and what could we do? Owner wasn't around to complain to and we didn't want to spend our time trying to get refunded and go to a hotel. This place was on the cheaper end and clearly we see why. Get what you pay for! The area is nice and safe but if you are in town to do tourist things it is 30-45min to main attractions. It is near portobello market and a more cozy local neighborhood with lots of restaurants. We thought it would be closer to main areas so that is our own fault. Many nicer apartments listed for rent in the area so stay away from this one.

A lovely stay in Notting Hill

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this Notting Hill flat. John and Karen were responsive and helpful leading up to my visit, even calling me after a HomeAway issue to make sure I knew my reservation was still on. I met Bella, their daughter, within five minutes of my arrival into the neighborhood after a quick cab ride from Paddington Station (there is also a bus from Paddington that's very easy, but as I was coming from Heathrow and had not been to London before I opted for the cab).

The flat itself was bright, clean, and a perfect home away from home. I really appreciated touches such as tea and books being available and the nice restaurant guide provided by John and Karen. I was expecting to find the flat on the small side after reading reviews about London flats in general, but it was really very spacious - I would be happy living there for quite some time! The bed was extremely comfortable, which was perfect after long days of sightseeing. Coming from the States some of the appliances were unfamiliar to me, but John and Karen provided excellent instructions on all of them.

The flat was very safe, which was important for me as a single female traveling alone - there are multiple layers of security to get into the complex, and the neighborhood itself is quite safe. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the tube, which was perfect for me, and there were buses that were even more convenient. I loved being able to wake up in the morning and stroll along Portobello Road in search of breakfast. Departure was also very easy and flexible, and my damage deposit was promptly refunded.

I would stay in this flat again in an instant and intend to do so whenever I return to London. Perfect for 1-2 people who want a quiet home base in a real neighborhood, but still extremely accessible to the highlights of London. Thank you, John and Karen!
