Lovely apartment great location
This was a lovely apartment for two couples or family of four or five. The hosts were congenial, organized, thorough and were very helpful. The only drawback is that you definitely require a car as the buses are extremely unreliable.
Thank you for your review !
The bus front door runs every 25 minutes, but in the main street Gregorio VII there are busses to every direction, running day and night. Rome is made for walkers ;)
From the apartment you'll be able to reach St Peter Square walking in 25 minutes or a few bus stops, and also a short walk away, 5 minutes, there’s Villa Pamphili, the biggest Park of Rome.
The bus stops are in front of the building and it takes just 15 minutes to reach historic centre as Navona square, Campo dè fiori, Trastevere, Spanish steps, etc...
The metro station 'Ottaviano St Peter' is 10 minutes by bus.
In the area, 10 / 15 minutes walking, there’re shops, restaurants, groceries, bakeries, pharmacies, supermarkets, etc..
muchas gracias !!!
A travelers worse nightmare
We arrived at the apartment at 9:00 PM (21:00) I had originally told the owner that we would be arriving at 7:00 PM by mistake. However, I wrote her twice days before our stay updating our check-in time with the correct time. When we arrived at the apartment the delegate was not waiting by the gate to greet us like he was supposed to. We were standing out there on a dark street trying to figure which bell to ring for 20 minutes. We could not see the villa name by the door bells. Finally a man appeared by the gate and let us in. He started right out by questioning us as to why we were so late. I told him we were not late and that we emailed them twice with the corrected arrival time. Once we went upstairs into the apartment the other delegate was there and she also gave us grief for being "late"
The real problem started when I told them that my son was able to join us so we now have 4 people instead of 3. I knew we would have to pay more tax and I was prepared for that. However, they told me that I would have to pay more per day for him being there....a lot more. When I told them that I didn't think that was the policy, they abruptly told me that I don't like it, we could stay somewhere else. I was shocked by their rudeness and told them of course we don't want to stay somewhere else. We had already paid in full for the original balance and where were we going to go at 9:30 PM on a Sunday with no car.
When they gave me the new total it included a 20 Euro late fee for arriving after 9:00 PM. We absolutely arrive at 9:00 PM sharp but they didn't greet us until 9:20. When I complained that we shouldn't have to pay the late fee they again told us to go stay somewhere else if we don't like it. This was the WORST customer service and rudest I have ever been treated and it only got worse! After insisting that we did arrive at 9:00 and that we should not have to pay the late fee, I finally said fine, I'll pay it. But, the lady had enough of me. She suddenly and abruptly told us NO, you are no longer welcome here. You must leave first thing in the morning at 8:00 AM! When I told her that we have paid in full and still wanted to stay here as agreed. She then threatened to call the police on us. THIS WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I had to beg her for 30 minutes to let us stay there and then she finally "allowed" us to. This was the absolute opposite of hospitality. Avoid this place at all cost!
...an error about planning of arrival time can happen to every Host....even more if the guest changes 4 times the fixed check-in appointment.... We apologied many times about this inconvenience...
We do not have a reception, since we rent apartments and we are not an hotel with centralized services.
Price stated are for a basic number of people, and added guest pays 15 euros per night, not "much much more".
If a guest arrives without showing an identity document, we can not allow him to get into the property, by the law.
The check-out is within h 10.30, not at 8 in the morning.
Anyway I'm very proud to hear that also unhappy customers....do not say anything bad about the property, the fantastic location, the immaculate cleaning of the apartment, furniture, etc...
And also I'm very proud to see that in 9 years of holiday rentals.....we have just the 2% of customers unhappy.
The others....came back !
What a wonderful apartment!!! This is a huge place ... and there were only 2 of us ... so we had plenty of room. We initially rented it because of the view of St. Peter's, and the terrace. There is a beautiful view of the dome from the street, but not the apartment; but the terrace is fabulous. The pictures do not do it justice! The apartment was extremely clean and quiet, with 2 large bedrooms, a small single bedroom and 2 bathrooms. At first we were disappointed that there are not any restaurants or shops close, but there is a bus stop right outside the door and we mastered the schedule quickly. And... they had English-speaking TV... so we could catch up on the news. The only negative I have is that you really do need to take a bus everywhere (grocery, restaurants, sites), but the system is easy if you use Google maps. You can walk downhill to the Vatican (about 20 minutes), but the uphill walk is not for everyone.
Thank you ! We are very happy about all this good things !
We are located on top of Vatican hill, St peter Square can be reached WALKING in 20 minutes.
This area is safe, quiet, and in the same time very central. We can say that in 20 minutes you can get in the main historic sites.
Shops, restaurants, supermarkets, ATM bank, etc...are located in Piazza Pio XI, that is 650mt from the apartment, 10 minutes WALKING.
To reach the nearest Metro Station in 10 minutes (Cornelia, Metro Line A), there's the bus 791 (stop at 350mt from the apartment).
The bus 982 (stop front door) brings dowtown to historic centre in many sites : 10 minutes to St Peter Basilica, 13 minutes to st Angel Castel, 18 minutes to Vatican Museums.
And once in the historic centre, Roma is made to be walked....into the little corners and small ancient streets.
Great apartment - would stay there again
It was a very nice apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, EIK and living room. Also it had a huge terrace. The building itself has gated access, and in a very nice neighborhood on a hill overlooking the Vatican. The managers Lia and her Dad were quite helpful as well.
The only thing is that there are no great restaurants real close - the closest ones are 15 minutes walk. Also while it was easy to get cabs on the way back to the apartment - cabs near the apartment were difficult to get - and we needed to walk 15-20 mins to find cabs.
We are very happy when guests enjoy their stay ! We give them many informations about the quartier, public transports, and also the PHONE NUMBER TO EASILY CALL A CAB, THAT USUALLY ARRIVES IN 7 MINUTES DIRECTLY AT HOME.
In fact, I have to say that in Roma we do not have the habit to jump on a cab on the street: if we need a cab, we just call it :)
Deluxe apartment with all ammenities
Our stay in the penthouse was excellent. We traveled with six adults and everyone had plenty of room and a good nights rest. We were there 3 nights and by the second night it was like home. I give 4 1/2 stars only because the location, even though it was in a nice neighborhood, was a little out of the way and we needed to take a bus (#982) or a taxi to any of the sights of Rome. (even though you could see St. Peters from the front entry) That being said, our host was most gracious and even helped us arrange taxis when the language barrier and the taxi company were holding us back. It was clean, the plumbing all worked, the Wifi and TV were in order and the coffee pot was welcomed every morning. There was a small grocery store nearby for essentials but not a lot of restaurants that you would call destinations. We had a great stay, i would certainly return, and would highly recommend this to our friends. Thank you Chiara for a fabulous stay in Rome!
We are happy that you enjoyed your holiday in our apartment !
We are also very proud to confirm that in our apartment every service is comprehensive in the rent price: there's FREE WIFI, SATELLITE TV, FULL AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING DURING THE WINTER, BABY COT FOR BABIES, WASHING MACHINE.....and everything you need to feel at home !
ADDRESS: Via Nicolò Piccolomini, 00165
The feature that makes this place a real gem, is that from via Nicolò Piccolomini you see the Dome of St Peter like you've never seen before: a game of perspectives with optical effect !
The location is perfect if you want to be in the heart of Rome, but at the same time you want to stay in a quiet place.
We are located in the VATICAN area: all kinds of shops, supermarket, restaurants, pharmacy, bars, groceries are located within a 5 / 15 minutes walk from the apartment.
Around the corner, 5 minutes walk, you can enjoy a break in the fresh air of Villa Pamphili, the largest park in Rome.
Saint Peter Square is a 20 minutes walk or a few bus stops.
Travel by public transports is very convenient and you will be given informations and a map of the bus.
The bus stop is on our street and in 15 minutes you will get downtown from the side of Saint Angel’s Castle, where you will get off the bus and you will walk through the alleys, toward Campo dei Fiori and Navona Square, continuing to Venezia Square, Imperial Forum and Colosseum, both walking or using the electric buses of the historic center.
To visit the historic district of Trastevere and neighboring, it takes 20 minutes by bus, along the river Tiber with a breathtaking view. You will arrive at Trilussa Square and from there you will walk into the ancient alleys.
On the other side of the river, crossing the Tiberina Island, you will get at Ara Pacis and Circus Maximus.
In the main street of our neighborhood, Via Gregorio VII , there are buses in every direction.
From our apartment the Vatican Museums are served by bus in 20 minutes.
The Metro Stations Ottaviano San Pietro and Lepanto are 15 minutes by bus.
San Pietro Railway Station is 10 minutes by bus.
If you want to go to the sea of Fregene and Maccarese, in 30 minutes you are on the beach.
