Great location, comfortable cottage.
Very good the peaceful four days spent there.
We love the black garlic and other products. We purchased some to take back .
Delightful cottage, well-equipped with with all one needed for a weekend stay. Excellent range of food and activities provided on site.
Fantastic Cottage Stay
We arrived to a very warm welcome and had extremely pleasant interactions with all staff members for our entire stay (Millie was fantastic with the guinea pigs!). Our cottage had plenty of room and everything we needed for our stay (Netflix and the wood burning stove were our favourites). The farm itself was very well laid out, tidy and had everything we could have wanted and more (the games room was a nice touch). We also had the delight of waking up to peacocks every morning which was rather interesting. There were a couple of negatives but nothing major: our shower basin didn’t drain properly so we had a kind of dual bath/shower situation happening and the next door neighbours dog was making quite a racket at times (don’t hold it against him whatsoever). Overall, we had a brilliant stay and will be recommending the garlic farm to our family and friends. Look forward to staying here again in the future!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, we do appreciate our guests feedback and will act asap on the shower drainage issue. We are glad you enjoyed the farm and its surroundings and look forward to seeing you again! Kind Regards, Melanie
Really sweet get-away, my husband and I had a lovely weekend. Colin was on hand to ensure all was well, he fetched us some towels and spoke to the restaurant about including a pot of tea with our breakfast.
The location is beautiful and the food exceptional. The farmhouse is well equipped and comfortable. Even the weather was amazing to enjoy the island.
Lovely winter weekend away
We stayed here for my husbands birthday and it was a perfect location to explore different parts of the Isle of Wight. The cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed to cook in etc. The wood burner was really good with the cold weather! We had breakfast in the restaurant which was just incredible! A really lovely break away with everything we needed :)
Thank you Lisa for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and what the Isle of Wight has to offer, we hope to see you again soon :) All the best, Melanie
Good comfortable cottage
Comfortable cottage in lovely countryside We had a very pleasant three day stay visiting local sites.
Mersley Farm (AKA The Garlic Farm) is a working farm growing garlic and with a small herd of highland cattle, a few horses and chickens. The Garlic Farm Shop located in the farm yard sells all our unique garlic products, plus a range of Island products. We also have a restaurant open for lunch every day serving a selection of delicious freshly prepared meals by the experienced Island chef, Phil Hopkins. The restaurant has already received much acclaim for the quality of its meals. We also serve delicious breakfasts from 9am until 11am.
A ridge of chalk downs extends across the centre of the Isle of Wight from east to west. Drive over the top of Mersley Down as you approach the village of Newchurch and you will see Mersley Farm nestling in its sheltered position 300 ft below. Surrounded by unspoilt scenery and ½ a mile from a main road, it is the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday, yet the nearest beach is no more than 10 minutes drive away.
Mersley looks over the valley of Newchurch, and the rolling Island countryside towards Godshill and the south of the Island. The Farm is one mile north of the village of Newchurch with it's prominent and interesting 11th Century Church and 18th Century Pub (The Pointer Inn), now serving excellent meals. Shopping areas are not far away as we are 4 miles from the main Island towns of Newport and Ryde.
Around the farm there are plenty of open spaces ideal for children to play including a football pitch with goals and a hard tennis court available to our visitors on request. We also have a games round with pool table, table tennis and games console. We would like to introduce you to our farm pets. We have a number of clucking hens who are always keen for feeding and sometimes lay us a few eggs. It is likely you will be given a warm welcome from the peacocks and black pigeons. There are also our resident highland cattle who you'll usually find in the field opposite the farm minding their own business in a 'don't-mess-with-us-and-we-won't mess-with-you' kind of way.
