To note that this apartment has had a long term rental for years and only now it is listed again for holiday rentals hence the minimal reviews.

The apartment is on the ground floor and is set in a beautiful seafront closed complex. It has a splendid view of the Hotel pool. Usage of the hotel pools is available, both indoors and outdoors pool. Also on offer is FREE bicycle usage. Two cards available to use the Cascais bikes so this is free and you can ride along the coastal line all the way to Carcavelos.

The flat has a lovely open feel and has two patios. If you have a car, you park right outside the flat. It's ideally located on the seafront and with its cycling/walking paths along the coast line and bike rentals across the road, it offers convenient commute to the town centre with beautiful scenic views. There is also a free outside gym across the road overlooking the ocean.

It location is perfect because not only it has a beautiful seafront setting, it is a walking distance to the quaint Cascais villa, beaches and numerous other attractions as mentioned below. You can get almost everywhere on foot and also have the bicycle free usage.

Across the street you have some convenient stores like a mini supermarket and one of the best bakeries in Portugal called 'Sacolinha' that also serve light meals. There is also an hairdresser, nails bar, laundry, autobank point on the complex next door.

Cascais is the most luxurious areas of Lisbon coastal region. With its high-society trend and many of Lisbon’s rich and famous living within the vicinity of Cascais, it provides the region with a prosperous and sophisticated atmosphere.

It is a delightful Portuguese fishing town that is situated on the western edge of the beautiful Lisbon coastline, and is one of the main cultural and leisure centres in Portugal and the region’s most popular holiday destination. Historically the town was a favourite with the Portuguese nobility, and today the town is an elegant blend of grand 19th century architecture, traditional Portuguese charm and outstanding tourist facilities.

These factors combine not just to make a great holiday destination but also an enjoyable day trip to vibrant Lisbon, which is a 30-40 minute scenic train ride.

As a holiday destination, you will struggle to find a better location than Cascais.

The apartment is close to this quaint and gorgeous historic Cascais town centre with its traditional streets, filled with family owned restaurants, open-air cafes and stylish bars - ideal for relaxing during the hot summer days or socialising late into the night.

Also, its proximity to various beaches, including the surfer's paradise Guincho beach, restaurants, parks, museums, shopping centre, the Marina, prestigious golf courses and the Casino do Estoril, the largest casino in Europe, make it the perfect location.  A stroll along the beach front promenade connects Cascais to Estoril.

Cascais is also close to the Sintra Mountains, a World Heritage site where you can have long walks on horseback or see the coaches strolling in picturesque Sintra. Regular bus services take you to Sintra.

For the golf lovers, you can an enjoy incredible 18-hole golf courses in surrounding areas, including the course at Quinta da Marinha (5 minute away), Oitavos, Sintra and Estoril. 

For the sea lovers, surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, are waiting for you. But if you feel that a board is too small for your sea adventures, you can rent a boat at the Marina (walking distance), do some sailing, go see the dolphins in the open sea or visit the Sea Museum. Surrounding Cascais are two contrasting coastlines; the northern wild and rugged surfing beaches (Guincho beach is considered as one of the finest surfing beaches of western Portugal and is set amidst the stunning scenery of the Serra de Sintra Natural Park) and the friendly beaches that extend to the east, including Carcavelos and São Pedro beaches. These beaches are a favorite with the residents of Lisbon, who flock to them during the long, hot summer months. This coastline is easily accessible from Cascais, as it is served by the regional railway that connects Lisbon and Cascais (the journey takes 30-40 minutes, and a return ticket costs €4.30).

3. Metro (tube) from airport to “Cais do Sodre” station (train & metro station in Lisbon) €1.5 (40 minutes) - metro every 5 minutes

Train from Cais do Sodre to Cascais center €2.7 (30-40 minutes) – trains every 15 minutes

Bus with stop right outside train station (called Buscas) to Atlantic Gardens €1.0 (10 minutes) - buses every 15 minutes

Weather:

Cascais and the Lisbon region have long hot summers, pleasant spring and autumns seasons, and mild but possibly wet winters. The weather in central Portugal is suitable for spending time on the beach from mid-April until the mid of October. The sea temperature of Cascais is always cold, even in the summer when the water temperature only reaches a chilly 18C.

Free bicycle available. Two bicycle cards available to use on the Cascais bicycle scheme. Bikes have to be dropped off every two hours on any of the numerous bike posts. You can take another bike so basically can ride the whole day for free and travel as far as Carcavelos along the promenade.

Lovely holiday

Cascais is a beautiful town, perfectly situated close to Lisbon and the fascinating hilltop town of Sintra (a must-see!)

The apartment itself was clean, pleasantly furnished and had everything you could want for a self-catering holiday. The supermarket across the road was very convenient and the hotel facilities (which are easy to access being just opposite the apartment in the same grounds) make this an ideal place to relax.

Although the apartment is along the coast from Cascais town centre, it is a lovely stroll along a coastal path into the town, past the Boca Do Inferno, Casa De Santa Maria (which has a great little cafe overlooking the beach - the grilled fish was divine!) and Marina.

If you want somewhere to go for dinner nearer to the hotel, there is a cluster of cafes and restaurants just about 5-10 minutes up the road (in the opposite direction to the town centre) - they all have outdoor seating and lovely views out to sea.

We had a great holiday here and hope to return one day... Thank you!

Sunny clean apartment well located

Pam's flat in Cascais was delightful! The apartment was not in the centre of town which was nice and peaceful.

But the bus was a few meters away and only 1 euro to town. Also a lovely walk along the sea to town not too far with excellent scenery along the way.

The flat was fully equipped with everything we needed as well as being very clean.

Next door to the flat at the hotel you may use the pool facilities with a jacuzzi and hospitality options for food and drink!

Pam was very helpful and informative about local activities and restaurants!

Fantastic apartment that has everything you need. Close to the pool, grocery store and fantastic bakery. Quiet area. Close to bus stopp (BusCas) to go to the center.

About Pam Ryder

I am from South Africa and in 2007 I moved to London where I experienced my best career years and met my husband who shares my passion for sports. Between us we have 5 grown up boys and 6 grandchildren. From 2012 and October 2015 work took us to Miami where we had of course the best weather conditions for our love of the outdoors. Why Pam Ryder chose Cascais

LOCATION=> The location is perfect, set in a beautiful setting on the sea front and being able to walk to almost everywhere. Its away from the busier town centre but close enough to walk there.

You also have the usage of the hotel two pools (indoor and outdoor) The indoor pool is great during the Winter months.

I also supply two bicycle cards so you can make the most of the Cascais bike scheme for Free. You can pick up the bicycles across the street and can use them the whole day (need to validate at one of the numerous stations every two hours).

I love it because of the tranquility and same time being close to everything. My favourite is Quinta da Guia which is so beautiful with various restaurants to choose from, enjoy stunning sunsets and this is 300m away.

You also have bike and walking paths everywhere, an outside gym right across the street with beautiful ocean views, parks, beaches, the Marina, tourist points of interest like "Boca de Inferno" all at walking distance and so many little places to explore. Considering its a small town, there is so much to do and discover. If you choose public transport, there are buses every 15 minutes, 1€ a trip.

Its a magical place and my little piece of heaven.

What makes this apartment unique

Again its the location, you will struggle to find a better located place than this property.

Tranquility, beautiful setting and gorgeous view from the patio to sit and relax and at same time have so much to explore and do in beautiful scenic surrounding areas. The pool usage is also a bonus for those that want to enjoy and relax in the hotel gardens and have the use of both indoor and outdoor pools.

Free bicycles is also an added bonus. You can ride as far as Carcavelos and bicycles can be picked up across the street

Musts are a visit to “Casa da Guia", a palace of the nineteenth century with a beautiful park overlooking the sea is one of the most fabulous places in Cascais with a handful of shops, cafes and restaurants with outdoor terraces overlooking the Atlantic, the views are spectacular! One of the secrets places in Cascais. Don't miss it! And it is literally across the road from the apartment, a 2-minute walk.

Marechal Carmona Park, a beautiful park in the middle of town, with little trails, live music on the weekends, a lake, a library, a small café. A place to read your book in peace, to observe nature. Very peaceful setting and meticulously maintained.

On one side of the park, there is a small stadium for horse shows. On the other side is museum, The Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães, well worth a visit if you have the time.

Boca do Inferno and the Port of Santa Maria are also a must and you can get to these also by foot.

There are cycling/walking paths along the coast line and I offer two bicycle cards so you have FREE bicycle usage.The bike post is across the street, so it’s very convenient to commute while enjoying the beautiful scenic views. You can ride along cycling paths all the way pass Estoril and to Carcavelos.

Cascais offers an abundance of choice, from the visitor seeking night life to culture, shopping, gambling, sun and sea, sports, plus a beautiful countryside and historic sites. The only problem you will have is having ‘time’ for it all
