This spacious 4 bed house with 10 m x 6 m heated swimming pool sits in the middle of approx 2 acres of land including a wood, just above the village of Les Eyzies de Tayac. There are two main floors and a basement.
The spacious 'L' shaped lounge and dining room are reached via steps and a small terrace to the front of the house. Also on this floor are a double bedroom and bathroom - the door into this suite can be locked making the area private. The kitchen is also off the lobby facing the rear door.
Just outside the rear door is a large terrace with stone BBQ, and wooden table and chairs covered by a cream curtained pergola. This terrace features elegant balustrade steps which lead down to the pool. Stepping stones under a pretty wooden pergola draped with honeysuckle and wisteria lead to the pool terrace which features an ornamental fountain and plants. You'll find sunbeds and parasols there, and a table with 4 chairs.
In the house, the comfortable lounge and dining room seat 9-10 adults. Satellite TV (English and French channels) a DVD player, PS2 games console with games for all ages and Wi-Fi, are all included. There are plenty of interesting books and some board games.

The surrounding environment is wooded and wonderfully tranquil, and the house and gardens are not overlooked. It's a short trip downhill to the village with its several shops, post office, 2 cash dispensers and beautiful riverside setting where you can enjoy a picnic and watch the canoes float by. There are a number of cafes and restaurants in the village, selling delicious food - everything from pizzas and take-away snacks, to award winning gourmet delights!
There are several interesting attractions in the area, the weather is gorgeous and the locals are friendly - you're assured a wonderful holiday in a beautiful and amazing setting!
Hello! We're dedicated to making you as comfortable as possible - we know just how precious your holidays are, especially when spent with friends and family! We have 2 grown up girls and a boy, 2 lovely grand-daughters and a grandson, and love to spend time relaxing and having fun with them and our friends in comfortable surroundings.
Gary and Brenda Sear purchased this house in 2011
We were absolutely set on buying Le Pech de Rose from the start, as we knew it had the potential to become a calm and relaxing retreat for guests after a day's adventure or sightseeing. Reviews of the property show us that it has been just that - a relaxing and comfortable haven.
We think the house is perfectly situated. It's not far from the village and other places of interest. It's also a very calm and tranquil place, private and not overlooked.. Hardly any traffic passes the front gates. We love the village of Les Eyzies with its fascinating pre-historic links and the amazing and beautiful grottos, the massive rivers and the many caves with their pre-historic paintings, some of which date back about 19,000 years. There are 13 restaurants in this village alone, and several lovely places to find delicious food all around this area! We have made several improvements to the original house and garden - the downstairs bathroom has been totally remodelled, the pool and terraces were added and the back garden, wooden pergola, steps and fountain area were created. The garden features plenty of established plants. Improvements in 2015 - we added an impressive balustrade and steps down to the pool, together with remotely controlled lighting around the pool and garden, and at the front gates. We're happy with how Le Pech de Rose has evolved into a comfortable, inviting property with a great outdoor space , and we're extremely pleased that our previous guests have been so at home here that some have returned from Tasmania and booked again for 2016!
We found the house very pleasant, quiet and spent a very good week at Les Eyzies with sun and high temperatures. We visited a lot of caves (grottos), castles and we took advantage of the pool night and day. Very beautiful landscapes. Many thanks for your pleasant disposition and it was a great pleasure to spend one week (only!!!) in your house.
This is a really beautiful place to stay.. The grounds are secluded and very pretty yet we wasn't far from the local town with a great choice of restaurants.. There is so much to see within 15-20 minutes drive but the house is so comfortable you will need to force yourself to leave...
The pool is also beautiful and the garden is very pretty..
Again, a most beautiful and clean home in an area that's ideal for a relaxing family holiday
We had a wonderful two weeks here, with two sets of grandparents, and our children (aged 18mths and 3.5yrs). The gite is lovely - in particular mention should go to the back garden/pool area, which is beautifully set out. The location is great - very quiet and peaceful, we could walk up the road to the campsite to see the animals there (horses, rabbits, goats) with the kids, or a short drive down to the village where there are great shops and amazing restaurants, Brenda and Gary's recommendations were spot on!! The surrounding area is fantastic for adults and kids alike. Many thanks to Brenda and Gary for their hospitality and making sure we had everything we needed, much appreciated.
Having spent many years regularly returning to holiday in France, and particularly to the Dordogne, we can say that this property ranks way up there amongst the best in which we have stayed. A great location for all the local tourist attractions and, of course the local markets. The setting is very private although Les Eyzies is only a minutes from the house.
Gary and Brenda were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing couple of weeks in their lovely home.

The house was wonderful and exactly as we had imagined from the photos, immaculately clean and it catered for all our needs. The pool table was put to good use and the games provided were played. The location is perfect for all the tourist locations that we wished to visit and is so peaceful and relaxing. We too enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the lizards dart about (and we did see the elusive woodpecker!). The pool was beyond our expectations and used every day!We also made good use of the BBQ. Les Eyzies is a lovely small town with good local restaurants - we ate out several times - good prices too! We were two families with grown up children and we all loved the holiday here. Brenda and Gary ensure your stay is perfect and we would all thoroughly recommend this holiday home to anyone looking for 5 star accommodation.
This property is stunning inside and out! We have visited lots of different villas over the last few years and this property by far exceeds all of the others! Brenda and Gary are lovely people and have ensured that you have everything you need to have an extremely relaxing holiday. The setting is idyllic and although tucked away in a forest you don't feel totally isolated as the village is only a short distance away. Despite the slightly stormy weather we made use of the amazing pool and well-thought out seating area by the back door - spending hours under the gazebo even in the pouring rain at night!
The bedrooms are all great especially the bedroom in the tower - I loved that room!!
This was the first time we have visited the Dordogne and would love to visit again. I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip to this gite, despite preferring to try somewhere new each trip.
Thank you so much Brenda and Gary for ensuring that we had a lovely relaxing stay in your gorgeous property - we are very jealous!!!
We arrived late on a Sunday so it was wonderful to find such a fabulous range of provisions to start us off. The property is incredibly well equipped with lovely touches like the cuddly toys and books in the children's bedroom. Beautiful gardens - the swings were a big hit as was the vast amount of space for little boys to run around in! Pool was lovely too although unfortunately the cold weather we had didn't allow the temperature to reach it's setting. Perhaps a pool cover would help? Large TV and efficient Wifi were a big plus for the rainy days. Location was great. We had a fabulous two days in Le Bugue - great for young children and it's on your doorstep. The information / leaflets in the house were great for helping decide where to go. Overall a lovely property with owners who can't do enough for you.
This stunning 4 bed gite/house, Le Pech de Rose, with large HEATED swimming pool nestles in wooded hills above the village of Les Eyzies, the world famous centre of pre-history and a UNESCO world heritage site. Incredible rock formations dominate the pretty riverside village which is under an hour's pleasant, well signed drive from Bergerac airport, through beautiful scenery and pretty market towns along the banks of the expansive Rivers Dordogne and Vezere. Visit the museum of pre-history and the information centre (PIP) for tickets to various attractions. Learn how to make the tools of cro-magnon man. Nearby are Sarlat, Le Bugue, Lalinde, Domme, Beynac, Castlenaud, Montignac with the famous Lascaux cave paintings, and the lovely cities of Bergerac, Bordeaux and Perigeux are a bit further afield. Tasty French food is abundant in this region, from the plat de jour to fine dining in the many gastro restaurants. This area is part of the 'Golden Triangle' of the Perigord.
