Beautiful Property in Medieval Village
One week in March 2023. Excellent property, well equipped and comfortable. At this time of year, not much is open in Issigeac the Market is still there on the Sunday, interesting to walk out of the front door directly into the Market! Plenty to do a see in the area.

A totally new experience.
Only 15 minutes drive from the airport and you are in the most beautiful medieval village in the Dordogne! Parking was free and easy to find. This medieval house has had a great makeover and was very comfortable. The downstairs remained cool all day which was a godsend in the extreme week. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. Lots going on at the weekends. We had 2 musical evenings and the Sunday market was excellent. We visited all the pretty local bastides and chateaus and spent a couple of days in Sarlat. We highly recommend this area for experiencing the relaxed french way of life.

A beautiful and well equipped ancient house right in the centre of town .
We really enjoyed our six week stay in this lovely old house. An ideal location and just steps away from the Sunday market. Comfortable, warm and very homely - and with a private courtyard . The only negative was the condition of the little road outside. No 13 is currently the only inhabited property and the buildings and road are neglected - and full of pigeon droppings.

About the host

We are a french-english couple who moved to the area in 2003 after living in south London. We always dreamt of bringing up our children in the countryside and Garreth wanted to renovate old buildings so we headed back to France and chose the Dordogne for its beauty, and work opportunities. We first renovated what is now our home near Monpazier , and in 2007 took on board the project of a derelict medieval house in Issigeac. It took longer than expected to get to this stage as we since have had 3 children.

Why they chose this property

We just happened to visit this house with a friend who was thinking of buying it but decided the work involved was just too much. Then Garreth set himself the challenge of renovating it, he did everything himself, with precious help from family and friends at difficult times ! We just love the village of Issigeac and were charmed by the property and the fact that it had outside space. We started renting it out for holidays in 2012 and we are delighted that guests enjoy it as much as us.

What makes this property unique

I would say that what makes our house special is that it is equiped like your home and is full of history, located in the heart of the village with a private outside space where you can sit down for meals on long summer evenings.
