Overview

About the property

Beautifully renovated 1866 House in the Historic District in the Downtown Wilmington neighborhood .Gorgeous old hardwood floors, footstep-worn thresholds, tiled fireplaces & time-shifted glass panes tell you this house has been here 150 years! Our 3 bedroom/2-bath/full-kitchen duplex is walking distance to anywhere downtown & short 17 minute drive to the beach! A very large backyard for hanging out.

Hello GUEST

We expect you around 5-6 PM but if this is not correct and you come later , let us know before your arrival. We live next door with our 5 year old who goes to sleep at 8 PM , which means we will be upstairs and won't hear any knocking . The Address is 110 N.6th Street near the Princess St. intersection and the house is colored pale rose. Your entrance is on the left and when you arrive just knock on the door on the right .We will have your cell once you reserve the house so please make sure you have us..

Now about the place........You have a functioning kitchen with glasses and cups for all beverages, a coffee machine with filters and grinder plus toaster. Recycling and trash pickup is early on Monday morning so we will let you know when we pull all the receptacles to the street .Recycling bin is blue, Trash is smaller and green, both behind the house by the shed though in the kitchen the trash is red and recycling is turquoise, both under the sink. Let us know if you need another bagl. Please put all TRASH out on sunday evening , and most important, please NO PLASTIC BAGS in recycling. folks have been forgetting this.

Linens and towels are all there with soap but you will need Shampoo, shower gel and more toilet paper. And a hair dryer.

Network ID is guest110un and the password is 21novjake for WIFI .

PARKING is on the street and free and mostly empty after 5 p.m. Please please do not block the driveway , we share it with our friendly neighbors . However you can load and unload there when you get here.

You have 2 bedrooms upstairs , both with queen beds plus a sunroom in the back with a doublebed . The Sunroom is accessible through the second bedroom but all the rooms have doors for privacy. There is a Shower and bathroom upstairs. There is also a fully equipped laundryroom. Laundry detergent is ultra concentrated so please fill cap up to dark line for each load. Extra blankets and towels are in the old wicker baskets from the 60s. Please just lift them gingerly, the hinges stopped opening a decade ago. Access to upper floor is by spiral staircase from living room and by a straight stairwell from back porch leading to second bedroom upstairs.

Downstairs is a queen sofa bed with the sheets and pillows in the black ottoman, a bathroom with tub and shower.Have beach towels if you do go to Wrightsville Beach or buy them because all the house towels are only for showering in the house. And please shake out sand before entering, either on front porch or backyard.

You are welcome to use the backyard and the BBQ and we have left you equipment for that ; if you need pointers on the charcoal chimney method, we will gladly show you.

We would greatly appreciate it if you leave the heat on 66 or the air conditioning on 76 when you are out all day . That is the auto setting on the two Trane unit control panels , which you will find behind the spiral staircase downstairs, and in the master bedroom at front of second floor above Luca's Papa's old desk.

We have cable TV. Just give the Toshiba TV 10 seconds to react to remote and it should show VIDEO 3 as input, then press guide or just switch with the channel button .There is a paper guide to all the ATT/ Direct TV channels. When you leave put all towels in hamper and strip all the beds you used, leaving sheets on the floor.. Also no cell phone or chats on front porch after midnight, our 2 adjacent neighbors hear it all because of the 6th St. echo. . Please let us know if you ran the dishwasher before you left.

Thank you.

Any other questions please do not hesitate ......a lot to read uh.

Why Luca Coletāo chose Historic District

We absolutely love our neighborhood. Stroll around the streets nearby and admire the beautiful historic homes, such as the Bellamy Mansion which is just around the corner. Walk six blocks to the Riverfront walk and five blocks to the restaurants on Front Streets. We love to eat at Le Bistro Caprice on Market and Water St or Le Catalan right on the river walk. You'll also find cool places even closer, like Manna, Coastal Cupcake and Costello's Piano Bar. If you head north a few blocks on 4th St., you'll be in our burgeoning Brooklyn Arts District. On 4th and Walnut is Flytrap Brewery where there's usually some live music on the weekends and a local food truck. Head south on 6th St., and you land on Castle St. in the heart of the Antiques district. Among the boutiques, you can find Jester's Java for delicious lunch or brunch and Luna Caffe if you just want to take a break and plan your next stop. Also on the south side on 2nd and Orange is the Children's Museum and a few blocks further is Greenfield Lake park, where you can rent paddle boats, canoes and kayaks or just let the kids run around the playground.

Great location. Clean and comfortable. Wonderful host!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for a girl's weekend in Wilmington. Walking distance to downtown and all the great restaurants and shops. Luca was a great host and made sure we had all we needed before, during and after our stay.

Only note for guest with dogs, the interior staircase is spiral and likely not usable for larger breeds. However, there is an outdoor staircase off the 2nd bedroom upstairs that can be used to get to the main level.

Owner's Response: Cami and her guests came to our RIvertown for News Years Eve and left the old place in great shape .Alas their dog was injured and they returned home before all festivities started. Our heart went out to Cami but she is a true animal lover. Amy and Luca

Great Stay!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 4 night stay in Wilmington. Amy & Luca were friendly & easy to work with. The location was great for everything that we wanted to do. The apartment was plenty big enough for our party of 5. We would stay again.

Nice home convenient to everything downtown

  • 4 of 5

Luca and his wife keep the home in really good shape. Floors and furnishings were clean and the beds were comfortable with nice clean sheets. The house is an older house with some neat features and beautiful finishes. We walked to the river and shopped as well as walking to a local restaurant called Savorez (two blocks away). The walk was nice and the restaurant was outstanding. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a few problems, so I'll give you some pointers. This house is comfortable for two couples, but no more. We had a weekend with increasing numbers of guests, starting with just my wife and I, adding two guests on the second night and ending up with 6 adults for the last night. We had expected a full third bedroom to accommodate the final couple, but it's a smaller room with access through a second bedroom. The room is more suitable for a younger child to sleep rather than adults. Also, if you have any problems with stairs, the second floor is accessible by a narrow and steep spiral staircase. It looks nice, but not a stair you can lug a couple suitcases up two at a time. There is an outdoor covered staircase with access through one of the bedrooms, but we didn't use it.

Luca and his family are next door, so he is prompt with any issues or help you may need.

Owner's Response: Sam was honest anfd forthright with his changing information, not easy when your family and friends keep you guessing. His group treated the old place with total respect and we would have him back anytime. Sam brought up some issues and thanks to him we have addressed them : the info about the rooms is in the description but most people do not read all 7 paragraphs and forget details by the time they arrive weelks later . Most guests ask about the details of the bedrooms before booking, but if they don't , they get a reminder 3 or 2 days before arrival. We have now placed all the reminders in the house description for all to see. And Sam underlines something we tend to forget, the 2 stairwells. We have gained valuable insights from our guests in 3 cities and value all input. thanks Sam....Amy and Luca

Great Historic Home

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Luca was a great host and easy to work with. The house was clean and spacious, plenty big for our family of 4 (and our puppy). Easy walks to downtown and nearby park/playground were big wins! Thanks for a great stay
