Overview

About the property

Beautifully renovated 1866 House in the Historic District in the Downtown Wilmington neighborhood .Gorgeous old hardwood floors, footstep-worn thresholds, tiled fireplaces & time-shifted glass panes tell you this house has been here 150 years! Our 3 bedroom/2-bath/full-kitchen duplex is walking distance to anywhere downtown & short 17 minute drive to the beach! A very large backyard for hanging out.

Hello GUEST

We expect you around 5-6 PM but if this is not correct and you come later , let us know before your arrival. We live next door with our 6 year old who goes to sleep at 8 PM , which means we will be upstairs and won't hear any knocking . We live on N.6th Street near the Princess St. intersection and the house is colored pale rose. Your entrance is on the left and when you arrive just knock on the door on the right .We will have your cell once you reserve the house so please make sure you have ours...If we are not home we will give you a code for the lockbox which is straight behind the house towards the shed, turn right, go up the main stairs to the first level and find the first door on the right which enters the kitchen . The Doorknob in front is historic and decorative, please use Metal handle to push door open. We left you oldstyle keys in the keyhole of the bathroom doors for privacy, which means do not use the little latches on black doorplates to LOCK DOWN or OPEN UP. they cannot be trusted.

Now about the place.....You have a functioning kitchen with glasses and cups for all beverages, a coffee machine with filters and grinder plus toaster. Recently the oven element stopped working and is in the process of replacement but all 4 stove tops work. Recycling and trash pickup is early on Monday morning so we will let you know when we pull all the receptacles to the street .Recycling bin is blue, Trash is smaller and green, both behind the house by the shed though in the kitchen the trash is red and recycling is turquoise, both under the sink. Let us know if you need another bagl. Please put all TRASH out on sunday evening , and most important, please NO PLASTIC BAGS in recycling. folks have been forgetting this.

Linens and towels are all there with soap but you will need Shampoo if ours is wrong for you, shower gel and more toilet paper. And a hair dryer.

Network ID is guest110un and the password is 21novjake for WIFI .

PARKING is on the street and free and mostly empty after 5 p.m. with the exception of the spot in front of the green house to our right, that neighbor has a handicapped member and needs that spot on weekends. Please please do not block the driveway , we share it with our friendly neighbors . However you can load and unload there when you get here.

You have 2 bedrooms upstairs , both with queen beds plus a sunroom in the back with a doublebed . The Sunroom is accessible through the second bedroom but all the rooms have doors for privacy. There is a Shower and bathroom upstairs. There is also a fully equipped laundryroom. Laundry detergent is ultra concentrated so please fill cap up to line 2 for each load. Extra blankets and towels are in the old wicker baskets from the 60s. Please just lift them gingerly, the hinges stopped opening a decade ago. Access to upper floor is by spiral staircase from living room and by a straight stairwell from back porch leading to second bedroom upstairs. All switches and pullchains control light and fans .Only kitchen fan is problematic so please do not pull on that chain.

Downstairs is a queen sofa bed with the sheets and pillows in the black ottoman, a bathroom with tub and shower.Have beach towels if you do go to Wrightsville Beach or buy them because all the house towels are only for showering in the house. And please shake out sand before entering, either on front porch or backyard. You are welcome to use the backyard and the BBQ and we have left you equipment for that ; if you need pointers on the charcoal chimney method, we will gladly show you.

We would greatly appreciate it if you leave the heat on 66 or the air conditioning on 78 when you are out all day . That is the auto setting on the two Trane unit control panels , which you will find behind the spiral staircase downstairs, and in the master bedroom at front of second floor above Luca's Papa's old desk.

We have cable TV. Just aim the remote at DTV box on lower left of Toshiba TV and press ON twice and give it 12 seconds to react : do not change anything on remote please. When you leave put all towels in hamper and strip all the beds you used, leaving sheets on the floor. Also no cell phone or chats on front porch after 11 PM, our 2 adjacent neighbors hear it all because of the 6th St. echo. . Please let us know if you ran the dishwasher before you left.

Thank you.

Any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us ......a lot to read uh.

Why Luca Coletāo chose Historic District

We absolutely love our neighborhood. Stroll around the streets nearby and admire the beautiful historic homes, such as the Bellamy Mansion which is just around the corner. Walk six blocks to the Riverfront walk and five blocks to the restaurants on Front Streets. We love to eat at Le Bistro Caprice on Market and Water St or Le Catalan right on the river walk. You'll also find cool places even closer, like Manna, Coastal Cupcake and Costello's Piano Bar. If you head north a few blocks on 4th St., you'll be in our burgeoning Brooklyn Arts District. On 4th and Walnut is Flytrap Brewery where there's usually some live music on the weekends and a local food truck. Head south on 6th St., and you land on Castle St. in the heart of the Antiques district. Among the boutiques, you can find Jester's Java for delicious lunch or brunch and Luna Caffe if you just want to take a break and plan your next stop. Also on the south side on 2nd and Orange is the Children's Museum and a few blocks further is Greenfield Lake park, where you can rent paddle boats, canoes and kayaks or just let the kids run around the playground.

Great location. Clean and comfortable. Wonderful host!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for a girl's weekend in Wilmington. Walking distance to downtown and all the great restaurants and shops. Luca was a great host and made sure we had all we needed before, during and after our stay.

Only note for guest with dogs, the interior staircase is spiral and likely not usable for larger breeds. However, there is an outdoor staircase off the 2nd bedroom upstairs that can be used to get to the main level.

Owner's Response: Cami and her guests came to our RIvertown for News Years Eve and left the old place in great shape .Alas their dog was injured and they returned home before all festivities started. Our heart went out to Cami but she is a true animal lover. Amy and Luca

A great location and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts were so helpful and hospitable. The home was exactly what we needed for our long weekend celebrating our neice and her marriage to our new nephew-in-law! We were grateful for how well apppinted the Home was with plenty of comfortable seating for everyone and room to quietly entertain after the rehearsal dinner and between the ceremony and reception. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for our needs and we were close to the waterfront and all it has to offer without having to live in the hustle and bustle of it all. We had no problem finding street parking, and the corner store was great to have for those last minute items. Our teens had plenty of room to sleep and stretch out. I can’t say thank you enough to our gracious and accommodating hosts.

Beautiful property in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

Luca was very welcoming and communicative. The house is super conveniently located to downtown, an easy drive to Wrightsville, and well appointed. The two bedrooms are quite comfortable—our only feedback is the sofa bed and futon in the sunroom could be cozier. We would definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: Paula and Scott and their very mature teenagers Cheyenne and Wesley , came to Wilmington with a 15 foot covered trailer with good's for the show at our Convention. We made sure they had room for 2 parking spots on our street. Thankfully, they enjoyed our town and beach the final 2 days of their 1 week stay. We even got to assist them for a BBQ in the back yard. Lovely people from Ohio and we would recommend them to all hosts. Amy and Luca

Great place to stay. Good value. Luca and Amy, the owners, were very accommodating. The two bedrooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water. It was nice to be able to walk downtown and not have to drive.
