Overview

About the property

5 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bath, Pool/Spa, 2 Blocks to the Beach, 5 Beach/Pool Badges

Located on a corner lot in Spring Lake's tree-lined North End, this summer rental offers perfect proximity to both the beach and downtown. You'll enjoy five beach badges that grant you beach and pool access at the newly renovated North End Pavilion.

Inside, the open floor plan is reminiscent of Frank Llyod Wright--or at least we like to think so. The grand living room encourages conversation by the fire and you have your choice of two dining rooms, casual or formal. The kitchen has all of your usual amenities; we offer china and chafing dishes for bigger family functions too. Upstairs, everyone can enjoy an afternoon nap in their own bedroom or gather in the den to watch a movie.

Outside, we love to start our day with a coffee on the wraparound porch. Then, the gunite pool and spa are always waiting for a post-beach dip. The grill comes complete with lobster pots, should you want to whip up a quick clambake (nearby Klein's or Point Lobster Company can help with that!) There's even a fire pit under the pergola, should you want to chat under the stars.

Last but certainly not least, this summer home is equipped with Nest and Sonos, so you can set your preferred temperature and tunes all via smartphone.

As our response rate reads, we're available for any questions you may have before and during your stay. Please feel free to reach out!t

Guestbook comments from the owner

Went for a walk through before rental so understood the layout on the second floor. Owner flexile with bedding so it did not present a problem. Huge secluded backyard, easy walk to beach.

Great House - Great Time!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 4 days here and really enjoyed ourselves...despite the fact that it rained for 3 of those days!!! House is very spacious, clean, has all the amenities. Would recommend this to anyone seeking a real step-up from your normal beach property.

Owners had a fridge stocked with water and also supplied each bathroom with toiletries.

We plan on requesting this property for next summer!!!

Very Enjoyable House!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for a group of college friends, our 32nd year post graduation. This house suited our needs perfectly and was close to everything we wanted to do: golf, fish, eat, drink and enjoy the shore. Great outdoor space on the front porch as well as back yard. Spring Lake is a jewel!! Super awesome town. Can't wait to get back there! The owners were easy to work with and very responsive to questions during the booking process and allowed us early check in and late check out.

misrepresented!!!

  • 2 of 5

The outside property very unkept, pool dirty, had a dirty shirt on the bottom of the pool and clorine tablets floating around. Nothing like the picture. We lost power and there was no lights in the backyard to sit out there at the night time. Inside very old and no proper air conditioning upstairs for sleeping. No air circulating at all. The whole house does not look how it is presented, we way overpaid and leaves a very bad feeling. We should of been charged have the amount for us to feel good about this vacation. We have learned a lot about this process and do not recommend this house!!

Owner's Response: J First and foremost, any complaint made to me was immediately attended to. On Monday afternoon you complained that a pool light had popped out of its socket.(see your picture) I sent pool maintenance next morning, he described it as yanked out since the collar was snapped. He remounted the light but can not replace it. To change out a pool light requires draining the pool and excavating behind the light since no cable splices are allowed in the water. During changeover there is four hours hardly enough time for the job and no one is willing to have the pool drained during their stay. Had you mentioned wanting more light I had purchased lights that hang under the umbrellas but they were nixed by my better half. They were sitting in a drawer had I known. The A/C works beautifully, it was revamped using smart thermostats to help control costs. The house tablet allows control of any thermostat in the house with a few taps. (see photos). It also monitors energy usage. The photo is a record of the air conditioning used in the north bedroom area. The usage pattern is normal. Had you said something I could have changed your A/C settings via internet if you found the tablet too hard to operate. Same system has a nanny cam to help watch children in the pool area. A photo of the pool and yard during your stay is attached. I personally prepped the pool for your stay, no T- shirt or chlorine tablets were in the pool. I will agree with you that the house has been used, we raised four children in it. It was our summer home then so the use was gentle. All photos are untouched. Misrepresented, I don't think so every room is photographed completely. French doors without curtains, yep they are in the photos. Interior windows going from room to room check they are in the photos. This was a spec house when built. It contains the ideas and eccentricities of the couple who built it. We did not. We are fortunate to have found an excellent cleaning crew. The house is always immaculate for your stay. I have included a floor plan as was suggested, however I encourage you or a surrogate to do a walk through.

Lovely location, but ask to see the floor plan

  • 2 of 5

The location is great, the large front porch is lovely, and the dining room table with seating for 12 is very nice. However, the bedroom/bathroom layout is a major issue for a multi-family rental. The third floor bedroom is accessed via a steep spiral staircase and there is no bathroom on that floor. This is really inconvenient for anyone staying in that room who needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night as they must go down the spiral staircase and walk through a bedroom to get to the nearest bathroom. Since this third floor bedroom has 2 double beds, this is essentially 4 guests. One of the advertised "bedrooms" on the second floor (with two twin beds) has floor to ceiling glass doors and a large glass window without any type of shade or curtain, so zero privacy. Guests staying in one of queen bedrooms must walk through this bedroom to get to the queen bedroom. Everyone who uses the twin room's adjoining bathroom must walk through this room to access that bathroom. Three of the advertised bedrooms share this bathroom. Essentially, the two guests staying in the twin "bedroom" have no privacy and constant traffic accessing the bathroom. There are no closets or dresser drawers in that room either, although their is a large table/desk. In my opinion, this room was not designed to be a bedroom. Ask to see the floor plan. The pool itself is nice (cleaned twice during the week) and the owners provide large pool towels, but the surrounding pavers are loose and the entire area around the pool is dated and in need of maintenance and gardening. There are a few plastic chairs and plastic loungers by the pool area, but not what you would expect given the advertised "luxury" beach property. The hot tub air blower is extremely loud. No flotation cushions/mats were provided for the pool. Overall, the owners were very kind and responsive, but the house is in need of many updates/changes before it can be advertised as a "luxury 5 bedroom home for 12 people".

Owner's Response: A As far as rooms go see above, look at the photos everything you describe is there. Your idea of luxury may differ from mine. If you want to do the ladies that lunch thing, the porch is done down in Lloyd Flanders furniture, cushions custom made of Sunbrella to resist fading (as are cushions throughout the house). Look it up they don't give this stuff away. The house is designed in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright , however furnishings and light fixtures are licensed Frank Lloyd Wright. The main staircase is built with the FLW tread ratio, I have bad knees, but I can go up those stairs with ease. Luxury for me is not gold and silver, its intelligent design. The timber and stone of main hall are meant to connect you to nature as it shields you from it as well. Most homes are design by a computer which is why they are glorified cracker boxes. The pool area we had to concede defeat, in the far end of the basement is a collection of shattered glass topped tables, destroyed cushions, rusting wrought iron. When you mix food, alcohol, and partial nudity even ladies from Mrs. Porters School make one damn mess. Add to that sun, sand and salt the pool area is a meat grinder for furniture. I choose those chairs because they are ones used at SL Bath and Tennis ( that's Hoi Polloi in SL).

Not quite as advertised

  • 2 of 5

The location of the house was perfect, walking to the beach was no problem. The house came with a cart so we were able to load all of our chairs and beach stuff on it for the walk. The house itself was clean. There was a fairly significant ant problem in the kitchen. The owner did have an exterminator come during our stay. The house is NOT a 5 bedroom as advertised. One of the bedrooms has one wall that is all glass. The person who stayed in there was unable to get dressed in that room .That same bedroom provides the only access to the bathroom on the second floor. The bedroom on the 3rd floor had floor to ceiling french doors without curtains. The TV room was fine except that there was seating for 3 people which meant that 1/2 of our family sat on the hardwood floor. The two car garage had a car on one side and previous tenants recycling in the other. We were able to get 3 cars in the driveway, not five. There was no access to games or a pool table. The pool itself was nice and clean, the outside pool area could use some updating.

Owner's Response: I always stress to tenants to communicate with me. Many of these problems could have been rectified early and easily. The recycling should have been taken by the cleanup crew before you arrive I apologize for that but we would have remedied it instantly if we had known. We never advertised the two car garage and I have parked 5 cars in the drive often. There are curtains for the French doors and could have been hung if requested (most people like the French doors that lead to your private balcony) They are doors not floor to ceiling. In the den there is a couch and upholstered chair which makes seating for 4. The bedroom has window not floor to ceiling glass wall. It is amenable to shades/curtain. (this room and all the rooms are clearly shown in pictures on the website.) We can supply a floor plan if desired. We had a previous tenant who had concerns about the den and we had cable hookup placed in the living room . A TV can be placed there which can seat 6. There are 4 TV's with option for fifth. We do not have one in the living room because we like a space to talk and enjoy each others company without having the Kardashians intruding. We had noted the previous tenant complaint about access to rec room and spent a lot of effort cleaning it up. There is a pool table, air hockey table, a projection TV with a PS 3 / FIOS TV connected with 7 channel surround sound which qualifies it to call it a home theater (two couches seating 6). Also note there are two full baths on the second floor. I would strongly suggest if you are interested in staying here take the time to do a walk through before you stay. You are staying in our home, because of that our lifestyle is impressed on it. By and large it is a simple thing to change things up and make it more like you would wish it to be. To say not as advertised is unjust, it takes tremendous effort for up keep of a house so close to the Atlantic Ocean , not a lake, bay, river but a force of nature. That is why I love it, I hope you will too.
