Overview

About the property

Located in the centre of the triangle formed by Toulouse, Albi & Castres

Perched on a hilltop and offering a wonderful view of the Black Mountains to the east and a fantastic panoramic view of the Pyrenees to the south, this sympathetically restored and well appointed stone farm cottage is the perfect destination for those looking to get away from it all, and the ideal spot to explore the South West region with its excellent tourist and sporting attractions.

This old stone farm building has been sympathetically restored to an exceptionally high standard, maintaining many traditional features including exposed beams and stone walls. A large stone fireplace and wood-burning stove are the focal points of the lower living accommodation.

Leisure at the cottage: If your idea of a perfect holiday doesn't involve going very far then the cottage is just right for you. The fully alarmed 8 x 4 mtr swimming pool is next to a large sun terrace fully equipped with dining table, chairs, parasols and sun beds. The large garden area is big enough for kids to runaround in but close enough for you to keep and eye on them. Inside the cottage there is a TV with UK free-view channels, a DVD player with a large selection of movies, a CD player capable of playing MP3 format and a large selection of books and games to help while away the long lazy days.

Leisure away from the cottage: Locally there are tennis courts, riding schools, golf courses, windsurfing, quad biking, canoeing, jet skiing, cross country running and fishing. We are happy to arrange lessons or day trips for any of these activities during your stay.

The many vineyards of the Gaillac region are only 30 minutes away and slightly further afield, but well worth the extra effort, are the Minervois, Cahor, Madiran and Corbière regions. We can recommend vineyards to visit and wine to buy during your stay.

Forty minutes away is the city of Toulouse, known as the ‘Pink City’ because of the colour of brick from which it is built, with its many historical attractions; The Capitole Square, St. Sernin Basilica, St. Etienne Cathedral and many museums. For the kids, a trip to the Citi d’Espace, the European Space Park shouldn’t be missed.

Just under an hour away you have the historical site of Carcassonne - a must for anyone travelling to the area.

Where to eat: There are plenty of good restaurants to help you discover the many culinary delights of the region, and our fully comprehensive welcome book gives details of all of them.

If you enjoy cooking while you have the time away, we grow our own fruit and veg in the garden which available for guests to enjoy. Nearby farms sell their own produce including chicken, duck, fowl, lamb and cheese, and the Saturday Lavaur market is a treat for all the senses.

Quiet and peaceful area

  • 5 of 5

The property is well located for exploring the region with several beautiful towns within an easy drive. Our 15 and 9 year old children were equally entertained. Beautiful cottage with excellent views and a peaceful location. The owners are knowledgeable about the area and some good restaurants around. Loved our stay here!

an excellent well equipped and maintained cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 weeks staying in this beautiful, well equipped cottage. As we had hot sunny weather the lovely pool was used every day. Our hosts, Karen and Ian, could not have been more helpful. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in this beautiful part of France. There is so much to see and do.

A beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We really appreciated our stay at this lovely cottage! You will find all you need for your holiday here: pool towels, BBQ, cutlery, washing machine etc. Karen and Ian are very helpful if you need assistance, they can help you with reservations at restaurants etc. The cottage is very tidy and clean, We have already recommended this place to our family and friends. This is the right place if you want a peaceful and quiet holiday, plus there are interesting Places to visit in the area. (Our sons (10 and 17) loved the Le Cri de Tarzan).

Superb peaceful cottage with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely peaceful week staying in this beautiful and very well equiped house, we had everything we needed and more. It was extremely clean, and a very comfortable stay, and we could've stayed much longer! .The views are stunning and the kids loved running around in the large garden, and seeing Bonnie the dog. We enjoyed exploring the local area which is beautiful, and lots of nice little French towns close by.

Ian and Karen (the owners) were really helpfull, and gave great advice on the local area.

I cannot recommend this holiday home enough. We really hope to return soon.
