White House Villa is a unique property located at the highest spot of Oia village in Perivolas area.
Its amphitheatric position offers fantastic views over the cliff, the village, the beautiful sunset and the volcano, all at the same time.
The location of the villa is very convenient as it is just 500 meters from Oia center. Outside the villa there is a parking area, bus stop, markets and restaurants.
The 'White House' title is fully explained by its white decoration concept that combines traditional architecture with minimal and contemporary design.
There is an external Jacuzzi mini pool for 6 persons available under a shaded veranda in the main court yard with fabulous view to the caldera and the village of Oia.
This lovely villa in Oia consists of three levels (main, upper and lower), which can be united in one villa for a big family/group of friends or two separated houses, the White Residence and the White Loft.
Santorini, officially Thira, is an island located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast from Greece's mainland. It is the largest island of a small archipelago which bears the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera.
Santorini is what was left after an enormous volcanic explosion that destroyed the earliest settlements of a formerly single island, and created the current geological caldera, basically a giant central lagoon surrounded by high steep cliffs on three sides.
The major settlements are Fira (Phira), Oia, Emporio, Kamari, Perissa, Imerovigli, Pyrgos, and Therasia
The traditional architecture of Santorini features low-lying cubical houses, made of local stone and whitewashed or limewashed with various volcanic ashes used as colors. The unique characteristic is the common utilisation of the hypóskapha: extensions of houses dug sideways or downwards into the surrounding pumice. These rooms are prized because of the high insulation provided by the air-filled pumice, and are used as living quarters of unique coolness in the summer and warmth in the winter, and also as premium storage space for produce and especially for wine cellaring: the Kánava wineries of Santorini
Due to its unique ecology and climate, and especially its volcanic ash soil, Santorini is home to unique and prized produce: cherry tomatoes, white eggplants, 3 exclusive varieties of grapes which granted the island a flourishing wine industry. Santorini and Anafi are the only locations in Europe to feature a hot desert climate
Archaeological finds proved that the city used to have a highly developed drainage system and, judging from the fine artwork, its citizens were clearly sophisticated and relatively wealthy people. Akrotiri still keeps well-preserved wall paintings or frescoes
In the last 5 years, the devastating volcanic eruption from 1500 BC has been linked with Plato’s Atlantis through extensive studies of local vulcanology, seismology and archaeology
