Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

The property is a three bedroom semi-detached house. It is situated in the attractive town of Portstewart on the majestic north coast. The town has a picturesque harbour and promenade with a two-mile long beach. On the Promenade you will find a children play area, paddling pool and more. The house is off the main road , literally about a six minute/0.8km walk to the Promenade.

There is an open plan Living/Dining Area and a separate Kitchen downstairs, with two double and one single (with sturdy bunks) bedrooms upstairs. The living/dining area, hall and upstairs bedrooms all have wooden floors. The stairs and landing are carpeted. Outside there is a garage where you can hang your wet suits, store your surfboards, bicycles, etc. There is quite a large front side garden and enclosed side and rear gardens to keep the little ones safe. On the rear patio there is garden furniture (table and chairs). Fuel for the fire is also available in the coal-house. Wi-fi is available.

There are so many things to see and do in the area and beyond. Here are a few suggestions;

- Stroll down to the Promenade and peruse the shops

- Walk from the house, over the hill to the coastal path, the Strand, Barmouth or the Promenade and beyond.

- Play bowls, tennis, putting, golf or surf on Portstewart Strand Within a few miles there are Golf courses in Portstewart (3), Portrush (2), Bushmills and a 9 hole course between the two Ports.

- to the east visit Dunluce Castle, Bushmills Distillery, Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope Bridge, Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. (Bring your National Trust Card)

- to the west visit Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne for a walk.(One of the most photographed scenes in Ireland)

- Travel by train from Coleraine to Derry/Londonderry, one of Michael Palin’s Great Railway Journeys. Walk on the historic Derry walls.

- A ferry will take you from Magilligan to Greencastle in Donegal where you can go for a wonderful days drive round the Inishowen Peninsula. (Check with local Tourist Information Office that ferry is running)

- You must check out the Antrim Coast Road, described as 'one of the top 5 driving trips in the world'.

- A day trip to our capitol, Belfast, is only about 1 hour 15 minutes away.

- In Portstewart there are many restaurants,or try Portrush for a change.

- The nearest Tourist Information Office is in Coleraine; the Library situated below the Townhall on the Promenade has a little information, the Library also has internet access, which is free to members or a small charge if not.

About Geoff and Hilda

I am a retired Civil Servant, and for most of my working life I was in the computer software and security business. I was born in Portstewart and lived there until I got married to Hilda in 1971,

when I moved to Belfast. Hilda trained and nursed in the RVH Belfast before and after we had 3 children. Hilda has now been a counsellor for the last 20 years. We have four grandchildren.

Why Geoff and Hilda chose Portstewart

1 Seafield Park was Hilda's family home from 1966 after moving from Belfast. Two years later Hilda moved back to Belfast to train as a nurse in the RVH. We have owned the house from about 2001. It has been fully renovated and fitted out with high quality furnishings, kitchen appliances and units.

We try to ensure that the property in kept in 5 star condition, not only for our own use but to share with you, our guests.

What makes this house unique

We have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren. They have all spent many happy holidays in this house which is now fully equipped and modernised for present day living. The property is in a peaceful location yet very convenient to the beach, our promenade and all the magnificent scenery of the North Coast and Donegal. We have private parking and an enclosed back garden

Guestbook comments from the owner

Easy walk to all amenities, in a stunning part of the world. The house had everything we required and the owner was extremely helpful.

Terrific house and location. Great hosts.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great break. The house was centrally located to both the beach and the promenade. Well equipped. Very clean. Lots of little extras for the children. Loved it.

Owner's Response: Thanks Catherine, glad you had a good time, It's nice to get away for a few days "out of the blue", as it were. You mustn't forget the little extras for the adults as well? For those who don't visit the North Coast regularly, it is always nice to come back and get reacquainted with this beautiful area. See you again, perhaps.

home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Very warm welcome by Geoff who showed us around in their cosy home. We very much enjoyed the house and were grateful for the winter duvets, as the nights were chilly. It is ideally located to walk down to Portsewart strand and shops.

Owner's Response: It was lovely to welcome you Elisabeth and your daughter all the way from Luxembourg. I know this was not your first visit to Portstewart as this is Michelle's third year at the University of Ulster, but it was your first visit to us. I know you have enjoyed coming over to settle her in to, and pick her up from the University and at the same time enjoy the beauty and sea air of our wonderful North Coast. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review, perhaps we will see you again should you return. Thank you for staying with us Elisabeth.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sarah, for taking time out of your busy day to write your review. First very many congratulation to you both on the safe arrival of a little brother for your two lovely girls. We’re looking forward to meeting him in the near future. We fully understand why you enjoy Portstewart as it is so convenient to so many places of interest, very close to the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland, the Giant’s Causeway. For some there are also many places very nearby where scenes of the popular TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ was filmed, even our very own Portstewart Strand. See ‘visitcausewaycoastand glens.com’ website for more details of places to visit. As you say we are so convenient to the promenade and beach, we have windbreaks, buckets, spades, fishing nets all available, and bigger spades for mum and dad. Hope to see you next year, thanks for your recommendation Sarah.

Wonderful well stocked home in great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks in this wonderful cosy home. Everything you need is here. It's clean and comfortable and feels like home. The owner Geoff was warm and welcoming and even sent a few emails during our stay to make sure all was well. We really appreciated his wealth of knowledge and suggestions for local activities. A wonderful location with much available within walking distance - loved 3 kings especially. Perfect location for driving To many Northern Ireland sights.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much Roisin for taking the time to write your review of your stay with us. We are pleased to have you to stay, travelling all the way from Richmond, B.C. Canada. I was especially pleased to welcome your Dad, returning to his roots. You had a good chance to see some of the wonderful scenery, the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Dunluce Castle and maybe a wee tipple at the Bushmills Distillery. You took the chance also to visit our capital city, Belfast (my adopted home) by train, very relaxing and worthwhile. Perhaps I should explain the "3 Kings" you mentioned. Although we like to think of ourselves as being very Regal around Portstewart, the 3 Kings is in fact a Coffee shop with snacks, glad you enjoyed it (many other coffee shops are available!) It was great having you, maybe see you next time.

Lovely stay in Portstewart

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in Portstewart at this property. It provided everything we needed and more. It really is a home from home, 3 lovely bedrooms, a spacious living/dining room and good sized kitchen. The location was second to none, being only 5 minutes walk from Portstewart main centre and 10 minutes from the main beach. We were blessed with some good weather and I can thoroughly recommend this part of Northern Ireland, great scenery and even better tourist attractions.

Owner's Response: Thank you you so much Steve and Sally for your nice comments, we are especially pleased you had such a great time. You certainly packed in a lot, you were telling me you visited Dunluce Castle, Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Bushmills Distillery and more. Of course there was also time spent enjoying the wonderful Strand at Portstewart with your two young ladies. possibly using the buckets, spades, wind breaks and little kiddies body board made available for your use. If you are a National Trust members you certainly get value for money on a visit to the North Coast. Come back soon.
