Why Marianne Charpentier chose Saint-Laurent-Lolmie
Situated in a landscape of rolling hills with fantastic views and close to well renowned market villages with colourful lively markets and good restaurants, the area is one of the best loved of France. The local attitude is relax and enjoy and it is very easy to do so in such a well appointed property where the owners have put energy and warmth into a very top market renovation where nothing is missing for your comfort. The most often heard comment coming from visitors goes along the lines of "we have never found better".
What makes this House unique
The furnishings and decoration of the two apartments is exceptional. The upper house has the full french country home feel with a kitchen so well equipped that preparing meals with the fantastic local produce is just a pleasure. The sitting room is large and luminous with huge comfortable sofas. The lower house has a stylish modern decore, streamlined and pure and an exceptional vaulted wine cellar feature. The many terraces provide al fresco eating areas for all times of the day. The large pool side terrace is a prefered mealtime and lounging area to while away many a peaceful moment during the heat of a summer day.

The most wonderful place in an even more wonderful location!
I very rarly give reviews because I never seem to find the time after returning from holiday back into the real world! However this place deserves it!!
The house itself is perfect for two families to stay in or one large family as long as you don’t mind the fact that the top floor accomodation doesn’t connect internally with the ground floor. It worked for us because we were two families and gave us each our own space when/I’d needed. The quality of the house and contents etc. is second to none and you really feel at home and very comfortable. There is everything you could need in the house. The only downside I could say is that all beds are doubles so your kids end up together. No problem for ours as they were all very young and of course it’s advertised as such so it’s not a disappointment by any stretch of the imagination.
Outside is another ballgame altogether. The pool is amazing and best I’ve used for a while. The salt water is so much softer to swim in than normal and you really wouldn’t know or taste salt etc. It’s at a great temperature too for the kids. The location is VERY remote which we loved. 15-20mins to the nearest village which we didn’t mind one bit. I think the one thing the place is missing is bicycles however. Particularly because it’s so remote and if flying you obviously can’t bring them with you. That’s being ultra picky however and I’m only saying it because I simply can’t think of anything else that gives a balanced review!
Wonderful house, wonderful grounds, wonderful location and wonderfully looked after. 95/100 from us. Thanks for a great holiday. Tom.
A beautiful rural escape
We went as an extended family and the property was ideal as it has 2 completely separate living areas.
The surrounding countryside is stunning and there were Kestrels nesting under the eaves during our stay. We saw deer and even an otter.
The nearby villages are 10km away so you cannot pop round the corner for bread and the benefit is your privacy and peace.
The upstairs kitchen is a joy to cook in whilst the downstairs kitchen is simple and more limited. We cooked only in the main kitchen and I easily produced meals for 8 on a daily basis.
There are some good local walks and well worth the effort to get some miles under your feet.
The pool is lovely. But we had some issues with it which took some time to resolve. The only other issue we had was failure of wifi connection which was not resolved but these were minor for us and did not detract from the joy of staying at this lovely house.
Fabulous property in a fabulous location
I almost don't want to say (type) this too loudly as we'd very much like to keep this magical place to ourselves, but alas that's unlikely. We returned home a week ago from our second visit to this property and we were not disappointed. Knowing what to expect didn't mean we weren't just as excited to get there. The fact that the pool is now heated makes all the difference to our young children. The surroundings are just wonderful and we made a point of exploring some new local towns to help keep our experience fresh. Simply put, it must be hard to beat.
A beautiful house which is delightful. The pictures don't do it justice. The pool and outside area are just want you need on a hot sunny day. We were with grandparents so having the split accommodation worked so well. Together but with our space. Marianne was lovely, helpful and come to our sis when needed. You do need a car as the house isn't near a walkable town but that was fine for us. In all one of our best holiday houses in France.
This place is simply stunning, the pictures really don't do it justice! We fell in love with it and weren't ready to leave at the end of our two weeks. Marianne who manages the property was really warm and welcoming on our arrival. The property is beautifully kept and extremely well appointed, it really is more of a home than a holiday let. The downstairs covered terrace and pool area are really beautiful and we spent the majority of our holiday just relaxing, swimming and eating here. The property is extremely secluded in beautiful surroundings yet only a short drive from several local towns and villages. The local night markets (particularly in Lauzerte) are a real must for a great french experience. Lots of trestle tables and chairs set up in the village square, surrounded by food & drink stalls. Live music and dancing into the night. You need to get there early to grab a table. We would love to return here another year and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.
Très belle maison joliment décorée
Une superbe maison rénovée avec goût et joliment décorée. Une belle vue et une piscine chauffée. Nous avons apprécié notre séjour et le bon accueil et la réactivité de Marianne.
Situated in the heart of Quercy Blanc between three beautiful villages, Montcuq, Lauzerte & Castelnau Montratier with their colourful weekly markets, restaurants and summer events such as Nuits de Lauzerte, brocante markets, marches gourmand and many musical evenings. There's plenty to see and do in the immediate area but equally the peaceful location makes it ideal for stroll in the country or simply lazing by the pool or in the garden with a good book. Montcuq has a lake with a beach which makes a change from the pool for a refreshing swim. Cahors with it's vineyards and fine wine producers is a beautiful place to visit and is 25 minutes by car. Don't miss the cathedral in the centre and the Pont Valentre the 700 year old bridge that spans the river Lot. Moissac with it's famous cloisters is 20 minutes by car and is situated on the river Tarn. Further south you will find Montauban with it's arcaded main square and Toulouse which is a very vibrant city situated on the Garonne river which is well worth the hour drive for a day trip. Don't miss the famed indoor market recently featured in Rick Stein's TV series where he travelled through the region on the canal du midi.
All household linen and towels are included in the price If you do not wish to clean yourselves then a cleaning fee of 100 euros per apartment is payable to the house manager before departure.
