Didn't want to leave!
Bob and Lizzie are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us wholeheartedly with wine and food staples and showed us round the property. After our initial welcome they allowed us respectful privacy to enjoy the stunning garden and pool for ourselves although we knew we could call on them if needed.
The house is steeped in history cool downstairs and although warmer upstairs fans make sleeping peaceful.
The environment around this house is breathtaking and the mountains stunning.
We so appreciate the lovely hosts Bob and Lizzie were and feel privalaged to have stayed in a lovely house in an exceptional part of France. We'll be back!
Thanks Higginson Family for the lovely review - we would love to welcome you back anytime! It was great to meet you -
Thoroughly enjoyed a truly memorable family holiday. The cottage was exactly as advertised, very comfortable, cosy and clean. A real gem!
The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the pool and garden every day. The owners Lizzie and Bob were delightful.
The perfect holiday.
Thank you for this lovely review - so glad you enjoyed your holiday - hope to see you again x
Wonderful peaceful countryside location
Lovely little cottage set in leafy gardens is perfect for chilling out on sunny days. Comfortably furnished and cosy with a well equipped kitchen it was a real home from home. Views of the mountains abound and the valleys are only a short drive away.
The British owners were delightful and helpful throughout our stay and never intrusive. The pool was a great asset especially on the warmest days and lazing on sun loungers under the trees soon became a habit!
Thanks for writing this lovely review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Maison Tristouits and hope to welcome you again
Spring 2011 in the Pyrenees
We had a lovely stay and the Welcome Pack on arrival was most appreciated.
This traditional cottage has lots of history and is located in beautiful Bearn countryside surrounded by flowering hay meadows at this time of year. It is perfectly quiet and is set in lovely gardens.
The photos are accurate, although the dining area photo must be out of date as the table is much larger than shown and there is a lovely pine dresser as well. The kitchen is a separate room and has everything you could require with a tall family sized fridge / freezer. The lounge area has two comfortable sofas and a flat screen TV with lots of English channels (BBC, ITV etc). The bedrooms are upstairs (quite steep and narow) and have a couple of low beams so tall people will have to take a little bit of care. The bathroom is between the two bedrooms and the only negative from us is that it only had a bath and no shower. However it is a traditional style cottage so I imagine fitting a shower would be quite difficult.
We were in this area to go hiking in the Pyrennes. Depending where you go it is 45 minute to 1 hour drive up to the trails. We left a walking book behind to perhaps inspire others. Oloron has a very large Leclerc supermarket which catered for us very well with Oloron approx 15 minute drive from the cottage. Pau is worth a visit but it a fairly standard yet pleasant French town with nothing much of note. However, we strongly recommend the Du Barry bistro for their fabulous and very good value half portion Chateau Briand with Bearnais sauce (thanks to Harriette for the recommendation whilst Maggie and Barry were away).
Thank you family Tourlonnais for this wonderful review - we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Maison Tristouits - we certainly enjoyed meeting you x

Très bon accueil des propriétaires. Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine. Le jardin et la piscine sont parfaits pour un séjour en famille.
À renouveler sans hésiter !
