Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Elios Proni - VILLA REGINA KORONI

EOT Licence Number - 0458K92000495701. Sleeps six.

Villa Regina-Koroni is a three bedroomed villa sleeping six. We hold a valid EOT Licence from the Greek Government making the villa legal for letting and to a prescribed standard. The villa is on one level with access from the large parking area at the rear via a small flight of steps. Each room has air conditioning and the villa is furnished comfortably and fully equipped.

The accommodation comprises a spacious lounge/diner with an open style well equipped kitchen. Two patio doors give access to a large paved area, 8m x 4m pool and garden. The patio area is shaded by a pergola and is equipped with a table and chairs for outside dining, a small sofa and two armchairs for comfortable reading and sun loungers. There is a small mobile barbeque.

There are three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin all with fitted wardrobes. The two double rooms have wonderful views over the garden, pool and sea and have direct access to the pool area via patio doors. The main double bedroom has it's own en-suite shower room. The twin room has views of Mount Aenos behind the villa and shares a full bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, basin and WC with the second double room.

Kefalonia is a spectacular and varied island well worthy of exploration. A drive across to Sami will take you through valleys of well ordered vineyards and through traditional Kefalonian villages. You will come to the monastery of St Gerasimos the island Saint with it's 16th century church. A much larger and very beautiful church was built after the 1953 earthquake. The walls are covered in colourful paintings and it's very ornate. Twice yearly on 16th August and 20th October there is a large festival and street market, everybody on the island attends.

A visit to the top of Mount Aenos, 162 m high with views of the whole island, the Greek mainland, Zante and Lefkas is a must. The new road goes right to the summit through pine trees and moss covered boulders. For walkers there are marked trails, it's really different up on the mountain and makes a welcome change from the beach!

A relaxing lunch in one of the many excellent tavernas on Sami harbour watching the ferries and yachts coming in and out is a delight. Why not take the road to Anti Samos beach, a pebble beach in a wonderful setting. The ancient ruins of Sami are worth a visit. Ferries depart from Sami to various destinations including Ithaca. A day trip to Ithaca is well worth the effort, the views from the circular coast road are outstanding and Vathy, the main town unspoiled and interesting.

Further around the bay of Sami lies the village of Aghia Efimia again with numerous good tavernas. The road from Efimia to Fiskardo in the north of the island provides wonderful views. The views on the backward trip from Fiskardo to Argostoli via Assos with it's Venetian Castle and the nearby famous Myrtos Beach is also very scenic.

About Joan Boon

Joan and Robin Boon live in Cornwall in a small coastal village. We first visited Kefalonia in 1994 and although we have visited many other places in Greece and the wider world Kefalonia was always the place we returned to. Over the years we have made many good friends on the island and amongst the many people who visit year after year. It was Joan's dream to have a property in Kefalonia for themselves and their family to use (photo of grandson Harry leaping into the pool above!) and to enable them to have longer visits once retired (fast approaching)!! We never tire of the excitement we feel as our plane comes in to land often actually passing the villa!!

Joan Boon purchased this villa in 2012

Why Joan Boon chose Kefalonia (Cephalonia)

We had been looking for a property to buy for a couple of years but to no avail. In May 2011 we looked at several properties with our agent and then took details of half a dozen to find and view ourselves. Villa Regina Koroni was the last on our list. We drove down the lane a little way and then decided to continue on foot. As we came upon the villa we both said 'wow'. There was this neat one storey villa, very private with a lovely patio area and pool. The views were to die for, that was it!! Dream come true.

We have holidayed in the Lourdas area many times as we love the various beaches. Although Villa Regina Koroni is in a rural area between Lourdas and Katelios both are within a short drive. We find that the rest of the island is very easy to explore from the villa, we are still finding new places of interest to add to our old favourites..

What makes this villa unique

We loved the simple layout of the villa and especially the four patio doors opening directly onto the pool area. Two from the lounge/diner and one from each double bedroom. We knew it would make for easy, relaxing holidays for ourselves and our family and guests. The villa is very peaceful and private. The only noise coming from the birds and the sheep/goat/cow bells when they come up the lane at the side of the villa in the morning and evening. Eagles can often be seen circling between the mountain behind us and the sea. Swallows swoop down to take a drink from the pool early in the season. Perfect!

Wow

The photographs cannot possibly do this villa justice!

From the moment we approached the villa we knew we had chosen a perfect holiday location.

The villa was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack was the best we have ever experienced.

The information folder in the villa was extremely comprehensive and included everything you needed.

The peaceful and beautiful surroundings were only punctuated by the sound of the passing goats and cattle...wonderful.

There are plenty of restaurants and beaches to visit within a short driving distance. A week was not enough and we shall look forward to our next visit.

Thankyou Joan.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 weeks in June at Villa Regina Koroni our second visit to this lovely Villa which is in a stuning location with views towards Zante. The Villa has everything you need and is perfect for rest and relaxation. We loved Sesto's Bar on the way down to Koroni Beach, especially magical at night and Kastro's Taverna at St George's. Assos was absolutely beautiful. There is no shortage of places to eat just a short drive from the Villa. With it's beautiful surroundings and private pool it is hard to tear yourself away. Thank you Joan and Robin for discovering this beautiful oasis.

MAGICAL

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Villa Regina was truly amazing. When we opened the patio doors the views took our breath away. It was better than we imagined. The facilities were excellent and everything in the villa you could ever need ..Sitting by the pool on an evening watching the sunset was truly magical. We had trips out in the car to lourdas which had nice beaches and restaurants and if you like fresh fish katelios is the place to go. We had a fabulous time on this beautiful Island. Thankyou Joan for letting us be part of your amazing holiday home.

Calm and Peaceful and of a High Standard

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many many villas, most in Greece and Greek Islands. This one is probably one of the best yet. It was amazingly peaceful (just the cows walking up and down every day !).

The views were spectacular and always something to see.

The Villa was extremely well-equipped - didn't want for anything.

The standard of cleaning was of a high standard.

Katelios was a great place for fresh fish restaurants - but Lourdata and in fact everywhere else had lots to offer

All in all - wonderful. Thank you.

Owner's Response: The cows and goats passing the villa a couple of times a day always afford great amusement. All adds to the peaceful rural ambience!

A most lovely villa in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The villa is in a stunning location although off the beaten track which is part of the charm. Spotlessly clean and homely with a lovely pool. Being in an elevated position some 150 - 200m up from Koroni beach it commands panoramic views of the Ioian sea and Zakynthos. Our stay was enhanced with a cloudless sky for our stay and with restaurants in Lourdas and Katelios reasonably close by car we were not left hungry, although lots of other places were just as nice including Kastros at St Georges and the local Sesto's a short distance down from the villa.

For those looking for a peaceful and quiet location with amazing, uninterrupted views, Villa Regina-Koroni is for you!

The villa lies in an elevated and private position below Mount Aenos with spectacular views across to the island of Zante surrounded by olive groves and grape vines.

For those fortunate enough to have visited Kefalonia before the villa lies between Lourdas (9KM) with its many excellent tavernas and long sandy beach and the small village of Katelios(7KM), visit here for a taste of sea fresh fish! Our nearest village Valeriano is 3KM away and has a mini-market, taverna, petrol station and post office. There are many good beaches within a short drive. Our nearest beach Koroni is a ten minute drive or a twenty minute walk for the energetic. Skala (14KM) is quite lively, also with a long sandy beach.

Kefalonia is served for flights from April until the end of October by most of the major tour operators i.e. Thompson, Thomas Cook, First Choice and Monarch. Easy Jet fly from Gatwick and Ryanair from Stansted. Jet2 from Manchester and Leeds Bradford. Winter months are more difficult with flights into Athens and onward to Kefalonia with Aegean.

Car hire from the airport is simple via the internet.

The capital town, Argostoli and the airport are both a 30 minute drive from the villa. (We provide detailed directions before your departure). Argostoli is a cosmopolitan town with excellent restaurants, night clubs, a theatre and several very interesting museums giving a glimpse of life before the devastating earthquake of 1953. The ferry to the Lixouri Peninsula leaves from Argostoli and the fish, fruit and vegetable markets are situated along the quayside.

Visit Argostoli in the morning and you may be lucky enough to see the fishermen feeding the turtles in the lagoon.
