Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday cottage in Tetbury - Sherwood, street farm

Grade II listed & well-equipped cottage ideal for large families

Our Grade II listed and well-equipped holiday cottage is situated at the edge of the pretty Cotswolds village of Shipton Moyne near Tetbury and a short walk from our village pub 'The Cat & Custard Pot'. The cottage offers accommodation for groups of 12 with 5 bedrooms (3 doubles and 2 twins) and a double sofa bed in the second living room. Cots and high chairs are available. There are 4 bathrooms including a downstairs shower room. The two living rooms both have televisions and hifi equipment and provide generous living space. The larger living room has a large dining table (1 metre x 2 metres) near the well equipped kitchen. Outdoors in the secure paved garden there is a BBQ and garden furniture. Our guest have shared use of our outdoor heated swimming pool in the summer months. The pool area is surrounded by walls and safely away from toddlers. Children and pets welcome. We are located in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with easy walking from the cottage.

Lovely place for a family get together

  • 4 of 5

I was delighted when I arrived at Street Farm Cottages. It is full of character with stone floors and beams. The best bit is there are plenty of bath/shower rooms for everyone. The only reason I didn't give a 5 rating is that the sofa's could be more comfortable and there is not much cupboard space for food in the kitchen.

The owners were on hand if we needed them, but left us to our own devices. The pub in the village is a good country pub and very friendly. Tetbury is only about 10mins drive away so all in all I would recomend this property to anyone - in fact I would like to return sometime.

Owner's Response: We do plan to replace the sofas but that is in the long term - in the meantime I shall see what we can do to make them more comfortable. We also plan to put a cupboard in the dining hall for the china so there is more room for food in the kitchen. This is in hand and should be in place for the new year.

Deep in the country

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent pleasant vacation time here, from 4-12 July 2016. This cottage is a large barn conversion, in the village of Shipton Moyne. It is comfortably furnished in "shabby chic" style. The kitchen is quite adequate, with a generous-sized refrigerator. The structure itself is constructed of the native stone, as are most of the village buildings. The Birdwood family lives across the farm compound; however the cottage itself seems quite private. It has an outdoor terrace furnished with table and chairs, where we ate most of our meals.

This property is distinguished from others of its type by the large, walled swimming pool on the grounds. This area is pleasantly landscaped, and the pool, though not warm, was tolerable for me, the grandmother of the two children, 7 and 11 years of age, who loved swimming every day.

We enjoyed the ancient church, and the friendly parishioners with whom we chatted after Sunday service. We all relished our Sunday meal at the Cat and Custard Pot pub. Both were just a few steps away from the cottage.

This is a quiet village set in idyllic Cotswold countryside. Every evening was filled with the cooing of doves, and the clip-clip of local horses out for their walk. Mrs. Birdwood was quite affable and helpful with our reservation, as well as a few small needs which arose during our stay.

I recommend this rental, and would definitely return myself for the serene country environment.

Great house for up to 5 couples

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for a family reunion of 4 couples and it proved to be ideal because it's spacious and comfortable. Having 5 bathrooms was great and saved so much time! The house is situated in a lovely village within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and Cirencester, all of which we visited. The pub, Cat and Custard Pot, is within staggering distance (150 yards) and serves good food. Also, a big thank you to Beth for booking The Vine House pub for a great Sunday lunch. Strongly recommended for large parties.

A wonderful family getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family have been to Street Farm Cottages for 3 years running. It has proven to be a lovely place for us to have an annual get together. We are a party of ages from 5yrs to 82yrs.

The heated swimming pool is a real bonus, along with the freedom the kids have at the cottage. This makes for a much more relaxed time for the adults.

The cottages private garden is really lovely with plenty of outdoor furniture. It is very private and a real sun trap.

All the rooms are very comfortable and there are enough bathrooms for everyone in the mornings.

We loved it, and the area so much we found a nearby venue to get married, and used the cottage as a base for the family, and us. It was much more relaxed than staying in a hotel and meant that we could all have longer together to celebrate. As such it has even fonder memories.

Beth has always been lovely and welcoming and is always nearby should you need help.

It is good to hear about the storage in the kitchen, it has been a little bit of a juggling act in the past, and the sofa bed could do with a little bit of an upgrade.

The kids have loved the huge telly, but to be honest they have been happier outside playing or in the pool.

We have always felt that there is plenty of space, and the cottage is full of character with its beams and stone floors. There is a great local pub a few yards up the road which serves good food and has a nice outdoor space at the front.

There is only a local post office by the way of shops, so you do need to stock up on food. There is a big Tesco a short drive away and other smaller supermarkets in the centre of Tetbury and Malmsbury (they tend to be more expensive than the superstore).

We hope to be back again next year. A big thank you to Beth for 3 lovely breaks so far.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. We will look into replacing the sofa bed this winter. Meantime we have just bought new kitchen appliances: oven, hob and fridge. So the kitchen will be getting a face lift!

Fantastic cottage, plenty of room

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, plenty of room for all, each room as its own character and its certainly a nice place to spend a long weekend relaxing. Great pub down the road, great local wildlife, lovely pool, which is warm and very usable, not just a token advert. I would happily come back and stay here with friends

New Year with Friends

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was great the perfect size for a large group of friends, children and small dog. Having full use of the house meant we never felt under each others feet.

The rooms were all very comfy and clean. Having so many bathrooms was very useful given the size of our group.

The comment regarding storage int the kitchen is true, we did struggle finding places to put food, so good to hear about the extra storage being planned.

The owners were really helpful with any of our requests.

The village is lovely with plenty of good walks all around it. Food in the pub was good and the locals were all very friendly.

I would go here again and definitley recommend it to friends.
