This luxury four bedroomed villa, with a private swimming pool, that is not overlooked. Situated 30 minutes outside Alexandria in a delightful village called King Mariout where you will see donkey and carts and traditionally dressed bedouins. This superb location enables you to not only see the sites of Egypt but also experience the local life. The Pyramids are only 2 hours drive away and you can also visit the Greco Roman sites of Alexandria, the war memorials of El Alamein, the colourful souks, the beautiful beaches along the North Coast, and you can even sand board down dunes. It is a holiday suitable for everyone.
We built and designed both Villa Sahara and Villa Oasis. Villa Sahara being the first one and Villa Oasis 3 years later. We have now moved back to the UK, but visit at least twice a year, and we will have Asrar our housekeeper looking after you ensuring everything runs smoothly. I will contact you once you have arrived at the villa to ensure everything is running smoothly. You can also text me and I can phone you back should you need it. We have a strong team behind us - not only Asrar, but also Sayeed our Boab (doorman/gardener), and Hassan who manages the maintenance of the villa's for us. Zed manages the transport.
Maria Hindley purchased this villa in 2005
The properties are luxurious and fully equipped. We pride ourselves in them being well maintained and also giving you a fully personal service to ensure that your holiday runs smoothly. Having lived in Egypt for 12 years, with our children growing up here we have grown to love everything about Egypt and it's people.
The Villa's are situated in a village that enable you to feel that you are really living in Egypt and not some sterile hotel, though you have the benefit of shutting the gate and being in your own peaceful enclave when the hustle and bustle of Egyptian life gets too much!
Great villa. Outside and inside was clean and tidy. It was a very relaxing couple of days.
Villa Sahara is an excellent place to stay with everything you need to be relaxed and enjoy your stay. The villa was very clean UK standard. The location of villa is excellent and it’s about 25 min from beach and shopping centre.
We went with family of 4 (2 Adult, 2 children – 9 years and 6 years) and we all enjoyed everything about the villa and specially the Pool. Also the Villa had high walls and very private which was what we wanted.
The Villa was kitted out with everything you will need including WIFI, TV and Washing machine.
We had excellent service from Maria and the team who were always happy to help.
Looking forward to going again in 2017.

I would like to start out by saying this was a wonderful property!!! Well maintained and a breath of fresh air from the gray and dirty of living in Cairo City. We had 2 couples and 4 kids, more than enough room for us all. This villa is well equipped with games and toys for the kids and movies in case the swimming and family time requires some down time. It is up to US and European standards for those expats who are looking for some home comforts. The pool is very clean and our children enjoyed swimming all day long. There is even a small tortuous roaming the yard. We found out that there used to be more but a previous tenant put them in the chlorinated pool so they ended up passing away a few days later....that was sad to hear. So if you are planning on staying here enjoy the tortuous and the pool....just don't combine the two please :-)
We had the privilege of meeting the owners and they are a delightful couple. I highly recommend this villa not only for how truly wonderful it is but for how pleasant it was to work with Maria. We are definitely coming back here when we have the opportunity.
On another note, the locals are very friendly and it feels like a very safe place to vacation. One day on our way through the neighborhood, My father and I were invited for lemonade and later over for a meal. It was a fantastic time and through broken Arabic and broken English we were able to communicate just fine. ;-)
Final thoughts, if you are looking for a get-a-way near Alexandria, this is a must!
I spent a week in the Villa in October 2014. Absolutely superb!!! Sayeed was great coming each day to clean the yard and of an evening to turn on the outdoor lights and generally to just check everything is ok. Very private and quiet so perfect for me! the area is quite local and a little away from Alexandria itself but the driver is a good price and very easy to arrange. The villa had everything I needed inclunding WIFI, Satelite TV, Air conditioning, Washing machine and a full kitchen. Unfortunately the rooftop patio access was broken so was unable to access this area of the villa however everything else was brilliant! I will definitely be returning and recommend this to anyone.
The villa is well equipped and everything was sorted out nicely. The maid and the guardman are very nice and cvery cooperative too. There pool is quit big and very clean, and not overseen. There were plent of DVDs and Music CDs for entertainment. We have spent two very lovely days my wife, the kids and I have enjoyed it so much. I am recommending to anyone who wants to relax and spend sometime nice time in a place with a private pool.
It was very relaxing overall. And we enjoyed the pool a lot. Every single detail you may need during your stay .. you will easily find it at your finger tips.
I went with my family last year to Villa Sahara.......fantastic holiday.
We arrived at Cairo airport where a driver was waiting for us, we headed straight to the villa, it took a few hours though - traffic around Cairo is mad! But it was a comfortable air conditioned journey & interesting.
We stopped on the way for refreshments.
On arrival at the villa, (down a dusty dirt track,) Sayeed & his son were there to meet us & let us in.
The villa is very clean, spacious. Everything you can think of having is there, a beautiful pool & shady areas too.
We were given a local mobile to call Ahmed our driver , Asrar the house keeper, or Maria who is there to oversee your holiday, she came to visit us & is very helpful & knowledgeable about the area.
Asrar is lovely, & cooks beautiful meals. She came each morning, & kept the villa beautifully clean, we got quite attached to her!
Ahmed was superb, we had several days out with him, which he made so enjoyable, we felt very safe, my mother was with us & he took particular care of her. We went to El Alamein, very interesting, then Ahmed took us to a beautiful Hotel nearby, where we had lunch on the beach, white sands & a turquoise sea.
That's the only drawback, the villa is not very close to the sea, but it didn't worry us at all.
We visited a market, where Ahmed kept a very close eye on us!
Alexandria is a busy city, quite cosmopolitan, we went a couple of times for shopping, however, One journey there took 3 hours as a fruit lorry had over turned on the duel carriage way, & it was mayhem!!
We had to cross over the central reservation to get out of it & the car got stuck on a bolder & 6 men arrived to lift the car off it, with my mother and young daughter still in the car!!! We still laugh about it now.
We ordered a takeaway from the local hotel, which was excellent, and arrived in china dishes, complete with all crockery, which they came & collected the next day!
King Mariot `village', is very Egyptian, a bag of lovely tomatoes cost 7p!
If you don't mind seeing animals being prepared outside the local butchers, then it's worth a wander 5 mins from the village, but not for the faint hearted!
Cairo, is amazing, but expect hassle, well worth a trip.
An exceptional villa with exceptionally friendly people to make your stay nothing short of wonderful.
King Mariout itself has many food stalls where you can buy all basic food supplies. There is a large Carrefore Hypermarket 20 minutes away where you can buy everything. There are quite a few restaurants in the King Mariout location and a wide choice if you go a little further a field. Visit the many Greco Roman sites in Alexandria; the catacombs, pompeii's pillar, Roman theatre and the villa of the birds, Fort Quaitbey, the Alexandrian Museums, the library, the beautiful gardens and Palace of Montaza. It's only 2 hours from the villa to the Pyramids. Take a trip to the Western Desert for the day or visit the war memorials of El Alamein. Don't worry about having to find all these places or driving in Egypt, we can organise for you, a car and driver at a very reasonable rate. When you feel the need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the busy Egyptian streets, relax by the heated pool in total seclusion, overlooking the tropical garden.
