Charming gîte with a warm welcome
Sarah and Jon couldn’t have done more to make our holiday perfect. From the generous welcome pack and their attention to make sure we enjoyed the gîte and its surroundings for a great stay. Super pool and garden. Lots of space to relax , all finished to a very high standard. would definitely recommend. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Another relaxing break
We have stayed in this gite several times and thoroughly enjoy the calm and peaceful experience. Highly recommended!
Wonderful gite
Sarah & Jonathan are very generous hosts, providing every thing you could need & so much more at a gite.
The gite is very clean & spacious. We loved using the pool which Jonathan kept spotless. There is a high level of privacy although Sarah & Jonathan are around if you need them.
We enjoyed using the bikes & walking through the forest from the gite.
Fabulous property in lovely village
We had an absolutely fantastic week. The gite is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. The rooms were spacious (the photos really don’t do it justice!) The pool was super, with plenty of furniture for eating and sunbathing.
Sarah and Jonathan were super hosts, they were a wealth of information and nothing was too much trouble.
We had a brilliant week relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. Plenty to do locally if you choose, or alternatively to sit and relax in total peace and quiet!
A perfect place to recharge and relax
Sarah and Jonathan are perfect hosts who provide you with everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their local knowledge is invaluable to allow you to make informed choices of things to do. Equally the gite is furnished and equipped to such a high standard that a day at the gite is a perfect way to spend a day. The pool was well used and the locality makes it great for walking and cycling. The gite is very clean and the welcome pack on arrival along with welcome drinks and nibbles by the pool after you have settled in make for instant relaxation. If travelling from the UK the journey is very easy once through the tunnel. There are shops nearby an excellent butchers in the next village and a boulangerie van each morning (apart from one) and Sarah and Jonathan are happy to order for you if early mornings are not what you desire. BBQ provided and local supermarket (5 miles) has very good fish and meat for cooking on it. Champagne vineyards nearby provide tastings (mostly free) so make sure you have room to bring some back. Also a local Gamay very good, along with honey from the butcher. Would not hesitate in returning.
Lovely Comfortable Gite and Great Hosts
We just love this beautiful gite - this year proved to be a challenge for our lovely hosts Sarah and Jonathan. Because just before we arrived the village - including the gite - was hit by a flash flood!
Sarah rang to tell us and we were given the option to still come or change the date - we knew that if it was too bad there was no way would they have allowed us to come over. So we carried on as usual - they worked so hard to make sure it was as good as it could be - we knew we wouldn't have the pool and some of the kitchen appliances.
It meant we had to eat out a bit more ( what a hardship!?)
We still had a lovely time in the gite and in the surrounding area as normal.
Circe spent a lot of time with us when we were in, bless her!
The clear-up of their own farmhouse was put on a back burner whilst they made sure we were okay in the gite (we were first ones in after the flood)
We appreciated all you did Sarah, Jonathan and Circe and hope to see you next year.
This is such a lovely gite and so well equipped - the area is lovely too, but the main thing is that it is so peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you all for your particularly hard work this year.
Location
Situated in a rural village in the Champagne / Burgundy borders, in gently rolling countryside with open farmland and mixed forest, this corner of France is largely undiscovered by tourists and is ideal for walking and cycling.
Nearby there are Champagne houses where you can taste delightful Champagnes to rival the well known brands. Just a 15 minute drive away is Colombey les Deux Eglises, the home of Charles de Gaulle with a magnificent new museum. The medieval city of Troyes is less than hour's drive. Slightly further afield is the city of Dijon, famous for its cuisine and architecture . Closer to home you can visit the atelier of Pierre-Auguste Renoir at Essoyes, or discover the secrets of Voltaire and Emilie du Chatelet at the exquisite Chateau at Cirey sur Blaise.
For the younger at heart the highly recommend theme park of Nigoland is also close by. Fancy a day trip to Paris and climbing the Eiffel Tower? Well, with an early start, its just two hours by train from the station at nearby Bar sur Aube.
