A great cabin in the woods, very well equipped and comfortable.
The cabin was close to Monarch Mountain for skiing and close to Salida for shopping and eating out. It was peaceful and private. Dan was a great host. We would definitely come back again.

A Hidden Gem
The Spruce Ridge Cabin is a hidden gem with great views of mountains and woods. The setting is quiet and peaceful. The cabin inside and outside looks exactly like the online photos. The owner Dan was gracious and hospitable and asked if there was anything else we needed. Of course, and fortunately, we had everything we needed and everything worked perfectly. The seating and bed were very comfortable. The cabin was nicely decorated in a "cabin and lodge" style and fondly reminded me of a log house we once owned in Oregon. The location is convenient to both town and skiing at Monarch Mountain. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a place to enjoy nature while relaxing in comfort.

Amazing secluded cabin
We were lucky to stumble upon this amazing place hidden in the mountains! The cabin is surprisingly larger than the pictures show, immaculately clean and well stocked with all the necessities and no clutter. Three decks open into the valley with breathtaking views – great for having your morning coffee! The cabin is an easy 15-minute car ride from Monarch Ski Resort and the Old Monarch Pass Road. The snow was incredible! When we got home at night, the pellet stove was a quick and easy way to get warm up fast. Dan and Lillie were great hosts, truly helpful and very patient with out three kids. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we are very thankful to Dan and Lillie for sharing their place with us!

About the host

Hosted by Dan Jones

Host profile image
My wife and I, Dan and Lillie Jones, have lived on our 35 acre llama ranch since 1991 with llamas that are used for our llama outfitting business. We built the vacation home in 2007 to provide family, and guests like yourself a place to stay in our corner of paradise. As previous guests have said, "'your vacation home is tucked away and secluded, yet easily accessible to summer and winter recreation and is the best kept secret in Colorado."

Why they chose this property

Our vacation home is beautifully situated on a year-round creek with mountain views and access to millions of acres of year-round recreation. We have treasured our privilege to live here and to share it with others with our year-round modern guest cabin and our outfitting business.

What makes this property unique

Many folks enjoy the seclusion, our year-round creek with fishing for brook trout, seeing llamas grazing from three decks and windows, the myriad of on-site and nearby recreation, the 20 plus species of birds around our vacation home, and of course, the stunning Rocky Mountains with the greatest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks (15) in the United States.
