Villa Rama Rama (Butterfly) is a huge beautiful Spa villa (8800ft2 living space). At 480ft above sea level, enjoy breath-taking views of Bali throughout the villa. All 5 large bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with rain showers and oversize corner baths (an additional 6th bedroom is available as requested for an additional cost and is attached to the ground floor 4 poster suite).
The villa is ideal for groups of friends with children or generations of families.
The master suite itself is very large with a balcony with sofa seating for 6. As a personal favorite, sit outside on the pool deck (first floor) enjoy the beautiful breezes, whilst having your favorite music playing on the cinema screen in the background. Villa comes with complementary broadband and fully staffed for housekeeping and driving etc (and complimentary use of the luxury 7 seater 4x4).
Also included in the price are transfers, free use of car with driver (additional 7 seater available for 8hrs per days for under US$50 inc driver and fuel), water/tea/coffee, meals at cost (in house cooks at the villa are outstanding and their food really is some of the best you'll taste in Bali) and wifi etc
Kuta is around 15 minutes away, so close enough when you do want to get there, but far enough away as you may want. Your surrounded by undoubtedly the best beaches in Bali all 10 mins away. If you want to Google what they look like, search Balangan, Padang Padang (my favorite), Jimbaran, Geger and secret beach to name a few. There's also beach clubs around in little coves that are fantastic for chill out days with DJ’s etc.
If children are part of the group, we lived at the villa for extended periods as a family with our own kids (now 5 and 8), hence you'll be happy to know that its very child friendly and has facilities including cots, baby baths, high chair's if very young, toys they can use, a play station if older, and all kids love to watch movies on the 12ft screen cinema projector. The staff have also been with us for 8 years and are amazing with kids, hence if you want to go out for a meal, or just a in house massage in the spa in peace, you can do so. We actually left our children for 5 days while we attended a friends wedding in Sydney.
To tell you more about the villa, on the ground floor there is a private suite (2nd master suite) with four-poster bed (an additional attached 6th bedroom can be added here for large groups or ideal for families with children). This suite is large than most rooms and also enjoys extra privacy.
Outside you have the beautiful enchanted garden, lush with fruit trees, and our spa (yes you don¹t even have to travel for a exceptional, yet bargain massage). Other facilities on the ground floor are for the staff or private.
The first floor is where you will be amazed by the view. There are 2 guest rooms with king size heavenly beds and feather down pillows to aid your horizontal relaxation. You will enjoy the cool breezes of the tropical living the design indoors merging with the outside seamlessly. All bathrooms as mentioned have huge corner baths and rain showers. There is a fully equipped large kitchen if you do feel the urge to cook, however 100% of guests have commented that the cook does prepare some of the best food in Bali (and all at market prices). You have the large infinity pool (accessible via a bridge with child safety gate as required) and of course the grand gazebo where you can enjoy the Balinese design concept of man, nature and harmony to laze and relax or simply practice another local custom you¹ll adopt quickly - the afternoon siesta. In the evening sit out under the stars listening to your favorite music (a 30GB iPod is available at the villa with a wide selection of music). If you fancy a movie the cinema projectors 12ft screen with surround sound will give you an excellent cinematic experience.
Upstairs you have the children¹s room with bunk beds and baby cots are available. There is the 4-meter long dining table seating 16. Then there is of course the Master. As usual there is the feather down pillows put also a Super King size, super comfy bed. The room is huge at around 800 sq.ft. With a 42" plasma (and play station 3 if interested), satellite and big comfy sofa. The best feature though is the private balcony two 3 seater sofas are there, glass surround, and the view is off the whole of Bali it really is like your stood on a cliff top – breathtaking.
We are surrounded by the best beaches in Bali, including where the beach scenes for (Eat, Pray, Love) with Julia Roberts was filmed. There is also a plethora of restaurants in the area and award winning CNN Top 30 Bar in the World¹ The Rock Bar is just down the road (a must). Others you might want to look up are 'Fins beach club', 'Nammos beach club', and 'kelapa Dreamland' all within 10 mins. We also have New Kuta golf club on the doorstep, home of the Indonesian PGA open.
Please also enjoy our dedicated spa’s comprehensive range of packages to complete your pampering. Indulge ;-)
Ive lived in SE Asia now for 17 years, and although from an investment background, have worked in holiday properties the last 7 years, so know a thing or two about holiday villa's. I'm married for 12 years to my Wife Ann and have two lovely (most of the time ;) boys aged 8 and 11.
Peter Taylor purchased this villa in 2005
Being on the hill is breathtaking. Its peaceful, and you have the cool breezes that make it very comfortable and with very few if any mosquitoes. The villa is huge, so plenty of space. Having a spa there is awesome. Its an amazing villa to chill/relax at (and you have the driver when you want to go out). Its also worth noting that your surrounded by the best beaches in Bali, all within easy reach, but also close to Jimbaran, so ideally located to adventure to the North of the island.
The villa is also ideal for multiple families or generations, as there is so much space (you can have privacy when you need it) and facilities on site. For smaller children, its very child friendly and we have all the facilities you could need.
The staff are amazing and have been with us since the villa since built and cover all needs including cleaning, driving and they are truly amazing cooks.
The villa is such a great environment, when we've had friends stay, often the most difficult thing is getting them to get them out of the villa. Please do take a look at the reviews, or contact us if you have any questions
The views are second to none. Great sound system. Comfy beds. 12ft Movie projector screen. The best Bale Gazebo in Bali ;)
The staff are amazing and honestly cook (and were foodie's) some of the best food we've ever tasted.
There also amazing with Children, hence you can be 100% confident of their safety and happiness if you need some adult time.
Our family - Mum and Dad and two grown-up children (24 and 23) have just enjoyed a fantastic week at the Villa Rama Rama, celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The location is breath-taking, and just as the description says, if not better.Accommodation was outstanding-- all the beds were very comfortable, lovely bedlinen, excellent a/cs, although the sheer size of the master bedroom makes it not as easy to cool as the lower rooms.Bathrooms had toiletries and plenty of towels. The corner baths looked very inviting, but the practical side of me resisted as the thought of all that water needed to fill them went against the "green" sensitivities!
The staff are as good as suggested- we had several delicious Balinese meals made, all the laundry done, we were driven wherever and whenever we wanted, and the villa was kept clean and well-maintained.
There is a folder with descriptive leaflets on local attractions, and a very helpful personal guide which we used a lot, and were not disappointed.Beware eating at the Four Seasons hotel though- a two course lunch for 4 - and we are talking beer and pizzas, not lobster and champagne- cost over £200, whereas Diu (the female half of the staff) was shopping for us and preparing dinner of fresh spicy prawns, curried chicken, noodles and vegetables, and rice, for about £17-£20. There were lots of other restaurants within a short driving distance e.g. seafood on the beach at sunset (fabulous!) and a very reasonable Italian- though the menu description and what actually arrived were not too similar! The red house wine was undrinkable, better to stick to the beer.
Excursions- the children went to a suggested beach and found a mere handful of other people on a beautiful stretch of clean sand; they hired surfboards and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dewa the driver took them and brought them back, all very relaxed. They also went white water-rafting and said it was excellent, especially seeing the Balinese countryside and the river. We had pre-booked an overnight trip to Java to see sunrise over the Borobodur Temple at Yogyakarta and this was absolutely magical-even the non-historians amongst us found it fascinating. We had an elephant ride there as well, yet it was very un-touristy despite sounding to the contrary.
I would certainly recommend this property.
Just a note for parents of youngsters- the pool is gorgeous, but there's no shallow end.
We booked this villa on recommendation from other friends and we are so glad we did. We had 3 families, 6 adults and 5 children. We were greeted by Dawa (our driver) at the airport and everything from our arrival was smooth sailing. Dewa's wife Diu had arranged for beers to be chilled in the fridge, the filtered water was all bottled and plumbed directly into the fridge.
We utilised all 6 bedrooms which were all cleaned daily, washing and ironing (including underwear!) were laid out on the bed for us every day. We had most of our meals in the villa and Diu cooked separate meals for the children, the seafood and curry banquet was amazing, Diu can cook anything you require. Breakfast was always ready and waiting when we woke. Dewa drove us out to Seminyak and Kuta (a bit of a drive to be honest) and waited patiently for us to return, even in the evening.
Diu is so experienced with kids and would happily feed, bath and put the kids to bed, and watch them at night when we all the adults ventured out for dinner. There is a spa room in which massage therapist come when you request, at $15 AUD this was amazing.
The pool is huge and we spent hours with the kids swimming around, there is two pool fences which put my mind at ease, however be mindful there is quite a big drop over the edge at one side of the pool, it would be hard to fall over as there is quite a bit of space between the pool and the drop, unless someone was being careless or kids were playing over that side unsupervised. There are gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, however they are quite steep and I probably wouldn't recommend families with kids under 2 stay on the top floor.
Overall it was a brilliant stay and we are going back for two weeks in March, some people may be put off by the location as it is quite a drive into Seminyak and Kuta, however this suited us as the views from the villa were amazing and we enjoyed the laid back feel up in the hills, and it was not an issue for Dewa to drive us anywhere we wanted.
We’ve just returned from a fantastic holiday in Bali (late August) where one of the highlights was our stay at Villa Rama Rama. The location is perfect – being at the top of the hill ensures a pleasant breeze and views from the infinity pool and balconies that simply take your breath away at all times of the day. The villa is very spacious and it met every need our family had … a spa area for relaxing, a cinema style projector where we could watch the latest movies, lots of space for playing games both indoors and outdoors, and large bedrooms so everyone could have their private space. We were also indulged by the kindness and hospitality of Dewa and Dayu, who always had great suggestions for anything we needed, cooked wonderful meals for the family (accommodating different allergies and tastes) and allowed us to totally relax and concentrate solely on enjoying ourselves. A special thanks also goes to Peter for sharing his family’s wonderful villa with us … we’ll be back.
Our family of five and 4 adult friends from the US & Australia all had the pleasure of staying in this magical villa above it all in Bali! It was truly paradise and the ultimate place to relax away from the busyness of the city below. Nestled on the top of a large hill, with views of the water surround you, and there is a wonderful constant breeze which was a welcome delight from the heat below.
We were greeted with a huge smile from Dewa (pronounced Day-Wah) our driver and resident caretaker of the property upon arriving at the airport. I have never met a more skilled driver in my life. (The streets of Bali are hectic to say the least and we always felt safe with Dewa behind the wheel.) He took us all over Bali to beaches near and far as we had surfers in our group; as well as Ubud, Canggu to Tanah Lot & countless other places always with a smile.
Once you are at the Villa you will be greeted by Dewa's lovely wife Daiu (pronounced Die-you) She will greet you in the mornings with coffee and make you breakfast or any meal, you just have to pay for the groceries and tip her & Dewa for their incredible service!! She made our group the most magnificent BBQ feast of a whole Snapper fresh off the fishing boat, Shrimp, Ribs, Chicken & Beef satay, rice, potato salad, green salad and fresh vegetables. It was ALL AMAZING.
The Villa itself is beautiful in lush, serene surroundings that are well maintained. The place is huge with lots of room to spread out for larges groups, the bedrooms all had very comfortable beds and plenty of air-conditioning. Wifi was also very good for those who can't seem to shut down. The pool is lovely and the Pagoda is heaven to just read, relax or take a nap. There is an onsite massage room below the pool which Diu can arrange massages for you. We took advantage of this almost every day. She can also arrangements for facials, manicures & pedicures which we had done as well. Dewa & Daiu are SO kind and such generous people, we wanted to take them home with us! They made our trip the most memorable and we are truly grateful to know them. Don't look any further, this is THE place to stay!!!
We were a group of 3 couples each with 2 young kids; so 6 adults and 6 kids (1-4yo). We stayed 8 nights in early June. This villa was a lucky find online. 6 bedrooms and being kid safe is a big ask in Bali. Upon arrival (after midnight) we were blown away by the size of the place, the friendly staff and, of course, that amazing view.
The layout of the villa was perfect for us. By day we lived on the middle level, either in the pool or the main lounge and dining area. For sleeping it was great, as with two bedrooms on each floor we had one family per floor with kids near their parents. All of the bedrooms are air conditioned which was needed for the kids' day sleeps especially.
By night, once the kids were in bed, the adults were out to the cabana/gazebo at the pool, with the odd night swim. Having a drink, or playing games, the hours would slip away. To be able to spend your evenings in such away - no cleaning up after dinner - was s real highlight. The villa is kid safe. Plenty of gates and doors covering stairs and pool. The pool is deep and there is no shallow end. The husbands could stand up, but the wives were too short. That means it is steps, jacuzzi or floaties for those who don't swim. Happily our kids all became quickly confident to swim about in their floaties with us nearby.
The location is peaceful. It is tranquil watching the waves in the bays and the planes at the airport. You won't be walking anywhere apart from for a stroll, but Dewa will happily take you anywhere or head out himself for beer, pizza etc. nothing was too much trouble. The car is spotless and comfortable. In fact, all 12 of us would squeeze in together to get anywhere! I think Dewa was secretly proud to beat his old record of 9 passengers. It always felt safe in the car, even with kids on laps. But the isolated location pays off well and truly. Compared to other spots, it is much cooler and less mosquitos.
Lastly, but by no means least, the staff were perfect. Most of the time you could forget they were there, but as soon as you popped your head downstairs, nothing was too much trouble. We had Daiyu cook quite a few lunches and dinners in the villa. Food was delicious. The money we would put in for groceries etc went much further than we expected.
We even went out one night as a group of adults and left Daiyu in charge of the kids. Not a problem!
I've run out of space to type- Peter, thank you! It was amazing.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
We had the most amazing holiday at Villa Rama Rama. Dewa and Dayu are the most attentive staff, they truly make you feel like royalty. We appreciate all they did for us and hopefully we can return to Bali and stay at Villa Rama Rama again. I would recommend it to all my friends.
Nestled on top of ‘The Bukit’ (and only 20 min from the airport and 5 min from Jimbaran) , Villa Rama Rama is an idyllic retreat away from the toils of urban life. At 480ft above sea level, villas enjoy breathtaking views, whilst being only a stones throw away from some of the best beaches on the island (Dream land, Balangan, Padang Padang, Jimbaran to name but a few). The position high on the hill can mean the temperature is a couple of degrees cooler, allowing you to enjoy the refreshing breezes in comfort. Views are outstanding whether looking over Bali during the day with the volcanoes, or looking at the lights over Bali in the evening. Due to the clear air and lack on air or noise pollution, the skies at night can be absolutely breathtaking. You will be positioned in a great location for activities, attractions and entertainment, but most renters so far absolutely love to spend some quality time at the villa, with the views, an amazing spa, fantastic staff and exceptional food.
Other Activities: Relaxation
Golf: Villa Rama Rama is five minutes away from Indonesian Open golf course 'New Kuta Golf'. With many cliff top holes, the locale is absolutely stunning. Feel free to take the house clubs and go and enjoy the beautiful sea breezes. They do specials for sunset golf for nine holes. Enjoy
|Fees||No additional mandatory fees|

Costs are minimal while you stay at the villa. Eating in we have a fantastic cook of both western and Asian cuisine (you only have to pay for the groceries from the market). Also a beer that may cost you US$5 in a hotel is usd1 from the convenience store. Our staff are absolutely fantastic with children, and can be really trusted if you fancied a night out (and of course feel comfortable with them
