Imagine kayaking up Frenchman's Creek in the early morning mist, eating oysters on the terrace of the Tresanton Hotel at St Mawes, messing about in a boat on the river, walking miles on the coast path without seeing another soul, taking a day trip to St Ives to paint the view, getting lost amongst the hydrangeas in a world famous Cornish garden, or simply enjoying a glass of wine lounging on an outdoor sofa watching the sun go down whilst fresh monkfish cooks on the barbeque.
These are all the things you can experience staying at Daphne Cottage in this truly magical part of Cornwall.
The cottage is in the heart of Mawnan Smith, 2 miles from the Helford River and 5 miles from Falmouth and is perfect for couples or small families who are looking for a bit of luxury whilst exploring the area.
Located in the centre of the village of Mawnan Smith, the cottage is tucked away behind a five bar gate and has a completely private garden which is fully enclosed, making it very safe for children and dogs, whilst the patio is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day on the beach or out on the coast path.
Key features of the cottage:

Mawnan Smith itself is a bustling village in South West Cornwall and provides the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of the world. The village is well equipped in terms of facilities which means you don't have to get in the car all the time. There is The Cornish Maid cafe, Case Juan - a Spanish tapas restaurant, The Red Lion pub, the world famous gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan, The Smart Penguin Studio and a village shop and Post Office. There is an ASDA about 15 minutes drive away, loads of local producers and farm shops nearby, fishmongers at Penryn, boat hire down the road, the list is endless!
The real gem and just under 2 miles away, The Helford River offers some stunning scenery, boating opportunities and incredible walking. Head down to Helford Passage and hop on the passenger ferry to the Shipwrights Arms in Helford Village (seasonal) or stay on the north side and enjoy a drink on the terrace of the famous Ferryboat Inn whilst watching the world go by. For little ones, cowrie hunting on the little beach at Helford Passage and crabbing off the pontoon are a must.
It is easy to get on to the South West Coast Path from the cottage, just a 20 minute stroll down hill which brings you onto Porth Saxon beach - turn left and you get to Falmouth via Rosemullion Head, Maenporth Beach and Swanpool. Turn right and you will discover the tiny picture postcard village of Durgan, world famous Trebah Gardens and Helford Passage (home to the famous Ferryboat Inn mentioned above)
There is an information file in the cottage which gives ideas on what to do and where to go, but please do feel free to get in touch if you need any ideas or to find out more about whether this is the right place for your holiday and whether the cottage is right for your requirements. I know what an investment a holiday is and as the owner I just want to make sure you have an incredible stay and get the most out of it.
For dog owners, we allow up to 2 medium sized dogs (there's simply not room for more). We ask that they do not clamber on beds or sofas and that you bring your own dog beds. The garden is completely enclosed - to cocker spaniel standards - and is partly lawn and partly gravel. I cannot recommend highly enough bringing your dog and taking advantage of the amazing walks from the cottage.
