Excellent Place Perfect Holiday.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottages. Arrived on the Saturday 11th August 2018 Our party consisted of myself my husband and my daughter & her husband and the 4 grandchildren. The greeting we received from Sophie & Chris was so inviting really lovely people nothing was to much trouble. The cottage we stayed in was Mallard Cottage the lay out was really good with one bedroom on suite downstairs which suited our needs. The cottage was well equipped we had everything we needed with a plate of scones with jam and cream waiting for us.. There was so much for everyone to do, outside was a play area for the children with a games room, swimming pool lots of things for the children to do. To the delight of my youngest grandchild there were goats ducks & chickens. Such a beautiful place to stay. We had a really good holiday. We will be booking again.
Second visit for us in two years. Although Otter Cottage was good last year, Mallard Cottage was a better fit for access & disabilities with a wet room & bedroom on the ground floor. Three bedrooms upstairs allowed the grandchildren to have a room each, which 15 year old Saffron was delighted with.
The swim pool was warm as usual, & is an added bonus to any stay here.
The children did complain about internet wi-fi, but then to us as grandparents they never seem happy with whatever connection in whatever location, so we take that with a pinch of salt, but if concerned talk to the owners.
Do be aware you may find the lack of some kitchen utensils frustrating. Simple items such as a fish slice etc should be basic. As our family is blessed with enthusiastic chefs & cooks, we managed our yorkshire puddings in the mince pie foil containers. That said, I guess there will be many guests that don't actually come to cook anyway.
We came to get some peace & quiet at Christmas & that's what we got, we did not venture far. However, for those visiting at a sunnier time to the year, there is a wealth of places to explore in this part of the world, so really it's a case of do your homework & come with a visitors wish list. The beaches in this area are a dream for children.
We would all return here again.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review, it is always lovely to welcome returning guests and we were glad you had chosen Treaslake Farm again this year, for your family Christmas break.
We are grateful for your feedback - especially on the kitchen utensils - we have a standard set of utensils in each cottage, but if anything is missing or not included, we are delighted to be able to add any additional items suggested - I'm sorry you did not let us know during your stay here, as we could have provided them for you instead of you having to improvise.
Our wifi here is normally reasonable - unfortunately due to our rural location, we are not connected to high speed. However, we can be affected by exceptional weather, which was why, on this occasion, the internet connection was intermittent. We continue to research alternative options, to be able to guarantee our guests excellent wifi at all times.
We do hope to see you again soon and wish you all a very happy new year!
Kindest regards, Sophie and Martin
Clean, well equipped, child and dog friendly
Great outdoor space for children. Field for dog walking. Easy parking. Friendly owners. Great indoor pool.
Peaceful and relaxing
Lovely house, very clean and well presented. Lovely to have beds made up for arrival and fluffy white towels. So many self catering places don't do this so it is really appreciated. Cream tea also waiting for us, lovely! Only thing missing was a shower seat in the wetroom. Peaceful rural location but within easy reach of many places to visit: Sidmouth, Exmouth, Seaton etc.
Many thanks for your review Carol, we're glad you enjoyed your stay here with us.
We appreciate and value customer feedback, as we are constantly trying to improve our cottages and facilities here - we have never considered a shower seat in the wetroom, what a great idea!
We hope to see you again soon, best wishes, Sophie
The owner could not have been more obliging and friendly - so peaceful and quiet!
We loved it here... and it provided a home from home. We needed step free access for showering, and the Mallard provided just that. It did not include a shower stool however, but we were able to obtain one for £10 from a local disability store in Honiton run by a charity, and returned it at the end of the week. We would love to be able to return soon ...
Well maintained, clean, friendly and peaceful
Nice location, nice property, nice people. Nothing within walking distance but Honiton is only a short car journey away and it has all the amenities you could want, seaside is accessible, plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy reach. Child friendly (although I don't have young children) and the easy access and downstairs bedroom and bathroom were ideal for my elderly father.
