About this property

Covid-19 caused a brief shut-down of Tamarron in Spring of 2020, but the Durango area has fared better than most of the US. Special precautions are being taken to insure your safety with disinfectant cleaners and hot washes of linens and towels. This updated and elegant condo is situated at High Point in Tamarron Resort just 17 miles North of Durango and is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides. It is ideal as an active vacation headquarters for 1-2 couples or as an incredible location for honeymooners. Kids over age 8 are welcome and games and toys are provided for quiet evenings before the fire. The kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel full-sized appliances and is fully appointed, including a Keurig coffee maker. The living area features a high end leather sofa from Bassett, wood flooring, and a deck overlooking a luxury golf course and mountain vistas. A large master suite has a king-sized therapedic mattress and a washer/dryer unit in the closet. A blow dryer is provided. The second bedroom has a queen sofa bed.. There is also a queen-sized air mattress with a pump mechanism that prevents air leakage during the night, ideal for kids. Shampoo & cream rinse are provided.

If winter is your season, a free shuttle will transport you to Purgatory Ski Resort in 10 minutes. There is also nordic skiing, dog sledding, snowcat skiing and snowmobiling.

The warmer seasons afford an abundance of attractions including the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad with a stop very close to the condo, hiking, biking, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, and many others. The Music in The Mountains festival provides concerts throughout the area during the Summer. You can now rent electric bikes from the Lodge.

Wow -- the new fitness center is amazing, with TRX, kettlebells, classes, and full cardio & weight equipment. There is an indoor and an outdoor pool and steam room/sauna in each locker room.

There are now 2 onsite restaurants, one a traditional grill and the other featuring a creative plant-based only menu. There’s a small store within the Basecamp restaurant for forgotten essentials, wine, and other amenities.

Our membership includes golf, tennis, pickle ball, and access to the fitness center and pools.

The small city of Durango boasts more restaurants per capita than San Francisco and is home to Fort lewis College. It can't be beat for its openness and charm. Please see my links for more information on these attractions.

A little complicated, but a nice stay

This was a ski condo accommodation, and it was fine. The kitchen was well stocked and the home was fine for what we wanted. The views were nice and the on-site exercise facility/spa was much better than pictured. Also, you should really try the steam shower! I only have one serious complaint, and it was that the pull out couch was absolutely not in good shape. I would be less unhappy about this but we were a large group and needed the pull out couch. The pull out couch leaned to one side and the mattress was thin. We considered just sleeping on the floor or on the downstairs couch, but there were others in our group sleeping on the air mattress. The listing information is likely a couple of years out of date. You will need to use the red notebook that is under the table in the living room to understand everything about the property. The property managers are on-site and easily accessible. We had only minor problems during our stay, and they were able to help us. I had to message the owner to ask about using the television and she answered right away. Over all, this was a good location, halfway between Durango and Purgatory.

Vacation

We have traveled to Durango for the past 6 years for our vacation and always stay at Tamarron, since we love the golf, pools, hot tub, on-site dining and everything else about Tamarron. This was our first time to stay in this condo, since our previous condo rental got sold unexpectedly a month before our trip. This condo is beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. It was a bit difficult sleeping on the pullout couch, but we managed. We had a wonderful time and we are very grateful we got to stay in this condo located in Highpoint with a very beautiful view.

Nice condo

We enjoyed our stay. We did not realize one of the bedrooms was an open loft and to sleep six the living room/kitchen area had to be turned into a bedroom with an air mattress. Over all a wonderful place and would stay here again.

Perfect condo!

Spacious and up to date. Everything you need! Beautiful area away from busy Durango, but close enough to drive for day trips. We enjoyed Silverton and Durango and loved the peaceful return to our condo where we could sit and relax on balcony. Golf course was great and so was the pool and restaurant at the club. Would definitely stay again! Also, immediate response from owner when I needed help working ceiling fans.

My name is Kathie Allen and I am a family physician practicing part-time in Orange County, CA. I first discovered Durango on my honeymoon in 1990 and was immedietely riveted by its natural beauty and by the "vibe" in the town of friendliness and open-mindedness. My co-owner and husband, Craig Fineshriber, is a retired principal percussionist. He performed with the Utah Symphony for 40 years. We both enjoy cultural activities and have made Durango an overnight stop on our way to the Santa Fe Opera Festival in previous summers. I enjoy outdoor activities and find the wilderness and the mountains restorative. In 2017 I ran for the US Congress in a Special Election in Utah's 3rd Congressional District. I lost, and reevaluated where I wanted to be in life. We moved to San Juan Capistrano, CA in Aug of 2018 where I practice family medicine 3 days a week and enjoy the beautiful weather and cultural opportunities of SoCal the rest of the time.

I had been thinking about purchasing a vacation rental in Park City, UT, which was only a half hour away from us when we lived in Utah. However, with the acquisition of the ski resorts by Vail, the prices had gone thru the roof. After looking online and in person at dozens of properties, I decided to explore Durango instead. When our realtor took us to Unit 608, we were impressed with the tastefulness and sophistication of the property. The prior owners could be our style soul-mates. We felt so comfortable walking thru the property that we went back for a second look, and, well, the rest is history!
