Hello! We live in Hampshire in the UK, but we're passionate about Portugal and can't wait til we get to live there full time (hopefully not too far away!). Until then, we're happy to share our family home with you so that you too can discover the delights of Portugal's Silver Coast. After many years of owning, staying and renting out an apartment in the busy Algarve, we were looking for an area that was a little bit calmer and a little bit more "Portuguese". Several weekends of reviewing Google Maps, a few mad round trips up from the Algarve and on the 23rd December 2017 we sat on the seafront overlooking the lagoon and the decided Foz do Arelho was where we wanted our future to be.... We both commute to London so life is a bit frantic, so we get out to Foz every 6 weeks or so because that's where we love to be. Getting there frequently is important to us, not just because we love it, but because we're on a constant mission to keep it updated and maintained so that you love it as much as we do!
Beccy purchased this Villa in 2018
Why Beccy chose Foz do Arelho
The house has been a labour of love - it had been unlived in for a couple of years and despite only being a few years old, was badly in need of some TLC. We spent out first few holidays knocking down concrete outhouses, filling skips with rubbish and being up to our eyeballs in to do lists. Finally, a big lick of paint later and few more plants in the garden and we're ready to share our little slice of Portugal.
What makes this Villa unique
There's not many houses that give you lagoon views, a 5 minute stroll into the village and keeps the beach and the cliff top walk within a 10 minute stroll. Things we love to do here.... sitting on the porch with a cup of tea in the afternoon , taking in the lagoon view with lunch on the decking..... a glass of wine before sunset on the upstairs balcony.... walking down to the seafront as everyone else is heading home after a day at the beach..... exploring the alleyways of the village after an evening out..... pork and clams for local fish man van that toots his horn outside at lunchtimes..... the sweeping lagoon view as you head towards the house from the Rua de Atlantica..... scrambling around the walls of Obidos on a q Castle......a quiet autumn in the sunset on the cliff walk.....a sandy run or walk across the mouth of the lagoon at low tide..... cycling as far as we can get round the lagoon (still not managed to work out all the way round!!).... trips out to Nazare, the dunes at Salir do Porto, dinner in Sao Martinho.... so much to do, so little time!

beautiful villa with amazing view and great location
This villa is very modern and spacious with a lovely outside space and an amazing view of the lagoon. It is very well equipped with everything you need including a welcome pack of refreshments which is thoughtful. Good wifi and great large fridge and freezer. Close to some lovely restaurants and 5 minutes drive to major supermarkets. A great place to stay.
Nice house, good location.
House is a lovely size, nice and clean and we’d def come back for a longer stay to explore the area more. We only had a long weekend, but the weather was great so we ended up making the most of being so close to the beach and the little village centre. Everything was only a 5 or 10 minute walk and we had an amazing sunset one evening as we walked around the top end of the cliffs. Some nice places to eat - we liked the little taverna place half way along the Main Street for tapas type food. The house was nice too and well equipped, although we ended up eating out mostly. Very comfy and so peaceful at night. Everything was easy to find and easy to get in when we arrived and the owner was good with our questions. Hoping to book again soon!
Boa Moradia, com o essencial! Um pouco longe da praia!
Try your hand at the various water-sports on offer within the sheltered waters of the lagoon, scour the shoreline for seashells or find your own spot to relax on the ample white sands of the Atlantic facing beach. There’s plenty of sea facing bars and restaurants on the front, and a number of excellent restaurants in the village, along with a small supermarket. For a change of scene, head 20 minutes north to Sao Martinho, Salir do Porto and the world class surf of Nazare. 15 minutes inland takes you to the walled medieval town of Obidos with its year round festivals, and a 10 minute drive takes you to the historic spa town of Caldas da Rainha, with plenty of shops and supermarkets. A number of golf courses are near by.
