Overview

About the property

2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Seymour Cottage is a cosy Victorian cottage centrally located in the picturesque Norfolk Broads village of Horning and is just across the road from the river. Features include entrance hall, bathroom, open plan lounge/kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, TV, CD Player, DVD player, electric storage heating, front courtyard garden, secluded upstairs patio, use of small private staithe on the river, private car parking. COTTAGE SWAPS CONSIDERED.

What can I do here?: The three main attractions are the Norfolk Broads (rivers and lakes) with rural countryside, the historic cathedral city of Norwich and the wonderful sandy Norfolk Coastline including the bustling seaside resorts of Cromer and Great Yarmouth. All this is less than 30 minutes drive from the cottage.

What are the Norfolk Broads?: The Norfolk Broads are a unique combination of slow meandering rivers with beautiful lakes (locally known as Broads). The river banks include thatched cottages with immaculate lawns (and gardens), reed beds (used for roof thatching) and many pretty staithes (a local word for a place to moor your boat). The best way to enjoy this wonderful National Park is either on-foot or by boat. Boats can be either hired (by the hour or day) or take an organised trip - Norfolk boats are either motor cruisers or traditional wooden sailing yachts.

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. The parking space is a bonus. The cottage is just over the road from the New Inn which serves good food at a reasonable price. The owner, Ruth, is very friendly and aims to make sure you enjoy your stay. Would happily stay again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review and so glad you had a great stay. We also love the New Inn - such a great pub - we love the quiz night on Friday evenings- it's good fun and loads of friendly banter.

Well appointed in limited space

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a stay in perfect weather

Good position near to waterfront and excellent eateries

Cottage itself has limited views and is a bit dark but it was spotlessly clean and comfortable

Horning is a well placed village for visiting the area

Managing the rubbish and recycling was a problem - not sure about what we were meant to do

Also internet access and tv reception spasmodic but we were on holiday so it wasn’t that important

Enjoyed our stay

May short break stay

  • 5 of 5

Seymour cottage was an excellent choice for our three night break, both in its location and the condition of the property.

The cottage has obviously been recently redecorated throughout and to a very high standard. From the moment we arrived we felt totally at home. The cottage was extremely clean and

all the necessary provisions ( cutlery, crockery and bedding etc) were of the highest quality.

As this was our first visit to the Broads, the amount of information on places of interest, in the form of leaflets, was invaluable in helping us plan for what was a fabulous few days away.

Prior to our break we were contacted by the owner, who provided us with detailed information about the various pubs and restaurants in the village and this again proved invaluable.

Having now visited a considerable amount of the Broads in a very short space of time, I have no doubt we made the right choice in choosing Horning and in particular, Seymour cottage as our base and it is most certainly somewhere we would choose for a future visit.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at Seymour Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Seymour Cottage. This charming, cosy cottage is beautifully decorated throughout and has everything you would need - including some thoughtful extras such as boardgames for the kids. The two bedrooms are well sized and the beds are extremely comfortable. There is also a small terrace that you can sit out on during the day and on warm nights. Horning is a lovely village and has great pubs and restaurants plus village shops. During my stay, I went for local walks, enjoying the Broads scenery and also had a great day seal watching on a nearby beach. Would definitely visit again.
