Riverside village cottage in the heart of the Norfolk Broads

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Seymour Cottage is a cosy Victorian cottage centrally located in the picturesque Norfolk Broads village of Horning and is just across the road from the river. Features include entrance hall, bathroom, open plan lounge/kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, TV, CD Player, DVD player, electric storage heating, front courtyard garden, secluded upstairs patio, use of small private staithe on the river, private car parking. COTTAGE SWAPS CONSIDERED.

What can I do here?: The three main attractions are the Norfolk Broads (rivers and lakes) with rural countryside, the historic cathedral city of Norwich and the wonderful sandy Norfolk Coastline including the bustling seaside resorts of Cromer and Great Yarmouth. All this is less than 30 minutes drive from the cottage.

What are the Norfolk Broads?: The Norfolk Broads are a unique combination of slow meandering rivers with beautiful lakes (locally known as Broads). The river banks include thatched cottages with immaculate lawns (and gardens), reed beds (used for roof thatching) and many pretty staithes (a local word for a place to moor your boat). The best way to enjoy this wonderful National Park is either on-foot or by boat. Boats can be either hired (by the hour or day) or take an organised trip - Norfolk boats are either motor cruisers or traditional wooden sailing yachts.

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. The parking space is a bonus. The cottage is just over the road from the New Inn which serves good food at a reasonable price. The owner, Ruth, is very friendly and aims to make sure you enjoy your stay. Would happily stay again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review and so glad you had a great stay. We also love the New Inn - such a great pub - we love the quiz night on Friday evenings- it's good fun and loads of friendly banter.

Very good value for a expensive resort.

  • 4 of 5

Cottage compact, but quaint. Probably better for a couple. Ideal location.

A little problem with accessing the key as there are two meter cupboards. We called the caretaker without noticing the other meter cupboard. Perhaps the info. should be updated as the Staithe is impossible to reach and even if you could it is unusable. The Leisure Centre has closed for good we hear. The boating company at Glebe Island good value and very helpful. The New Inn has a good atmosphere and serves good food. the Chinese take-away, very average. Resort very busy and next time we would try and avoid a week-end.

Ideal for us, very comfortable, and ideal for access to the rest of the broads.

  • 5 of 5

The only problem was in the instructions regarding the location of the door key.

It is NOT in the meter cupboard but in the BIN cupboard with the wooden door.

We worked it out but another might panick and damage the meter cupboard door.

The Staithe was inaccessable which was a shame as I was looking forward to fishing there, I did fish from the green which is not ideal as moored boats can restrict where you can fish if at all.

The table lamp in the back bedroom has had the wrong bulb fitted which is scorching the shade you should change it without delay as it could be a fire hazard if left on for a long time. Regards mike vacher

A very quaint property with a central location in Horning.

  • 5 of 5

The location is great for travel to the centre of Wroxham and surrounding areas. Horning is a lovely setting with plenty of eating and drinking places on the water. The cottage was small but had everything we needed for a short break. It was spotlessly clean and welcoming on our arrival.
