Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Norfolk Broads - Seymour Cottage

2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Seymour Cottage is a cosy Victorian cottage centrally located in the picturesque Norfolk Broads village of Horning and is just across the road from the river. Features include entrance hall, bathroom, open plan lounge/kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, TV, CD Player, DVD player, electric storage heating, front courtyard garden, secluded upstairs patio, use of small private staithe on the river, private car parking. COTTAGE SWAPS CONSIDERED.

What can I do here?: The three main attractions are the Norfolk Broads (rivers and lakes) with rural countryside, the historic cathedral city of Norwich and the wonderful sandy Norfolk Coastline including the bustling seaside resorts of Cromer and Great Yarmouth. All this is less than 30 minutes drive from the cottage.

What are the Norfolk Broads?: The Norfolk Broads are a unique combination of slow meandering rivers with beautiful lakes (locally known as Broads). The river banks include thatched cottages with immaculate lawns (and gardens), reed beds (used for roof thatching) and many pretty staithes (a local word for a place to moor your boat). The best way to enjoy this wonderful National Park is either on-foot or by boat. Boats can be either hired (by the hour or day) or take an organised trip - Norfolk boats are either motor cruisers or traditional wooden sailing yachts.

Lovely cottage in a great spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a weekend stay and the cottage and it was just perfect. Modern, warm and clean. In a great location, just a short walk to local facilities, lots of places to eat or take away if you prefer. There's leisure centre with swimming pool as well. About a 20 minute drive to Norwich, and well worth stopping at Wroxham on the way. Lots to do for all the family - we're planning our next stay already!

Good relaxing break

  • 4 of 5

From my initial contact with Ruth I found her to be very friendly, accommodating and helpful. We wanted to book a weekend to have some quality family time together and Seymour cottage was definitely the place to do it. Horning wasn't busy due to the time of the year, but it was lovely just to have some gentle walks in the local area, watching the boats and just taking in the fresh air. We didn't venture far but that was only because we live just a short distance away and can visit the area anytime, the purpose of the stay was just to relax. The cottage itself was in a very good location close to all the amenities and is very cosy. I spoke to Ruth just before our visit and explained that I wanted to have a takeaway on the first night and she recommended the Chinese. It was the best Chinese I had eaten in a long while and we were very tempted to go back the next evening. Thank you Ruth for all your help, I would definitely recommend Seymour cottage.

Most charming well equipped cottage.

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful find in Horning. The cottage was clean, bright cosy and comfortable. Very well equipped with everything and everyone catered for. Our 3 week old Grandsons first stay away from home and the cottage proved to be a second home!!. Lots of games, DVDs and information leaflets for the surrounding areas which all proved to be most helpful. Easy access to nearby places of interest by car, rail or bus. Excellent location by the broads watching the boats anytime of the day. Owner was most helpful and accommodating throughout our booking this lovely place. We shall return. Thank you.

Seymour Cottage Horning Sept 2015

  • 4 of 5

Seymour Cottage has the feel of a home rather than a holiday cottage, clean & comfortable in a lovely position ( albeit not directly on the river ) in Horning.

The private staithe does give access to the river front for fishing .As fairly regular visitors to Horning we do prefer the Ferry Inn

for eating out but both The New Inn & The Swan Inn offer very good meals & both a short stroll from the Cottage ( New Inn about 30 seconds away!) We do prefer to be on the waterfront but would certainly use Seymour Cottage again. Many Thanks to Ruth for keeping us well informed with all relevant information.

Lovely holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Seymour cottage provided the perfect base for our week in Norfolk. It was warm, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed and more! Ruth, the owner was incredibly helpful and gave us loads of useful information to help us prepare for our stay (the restaurant recommendations were particularly handy and we ate at a number of them!). The village is delightful and the locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We made good use of the local shops and pubs. The highlight of the trip was seeing the seals on the beach at Horsey, it felt as though they were watching us as much as we were watching them! Would happily have stayed at Seymour Cottage for much, much longer.

With its cottages and shops grouped around the village green beside the staithe and its three Riverside Inns, Horning on the River Bure is one of the prettiest and most popular villages on the Norfolk Broads. It is centrally located for the whole of the Norfolk Broads where you can enjoy boating, fishing, nature trails and glorious scenery. The nearby historic cathedral city of Norwich has an interesting castle, alley-ways to explore, museums, theatres, restaurants, night life and great shopping. Less than 10 miles away are the beautiful sandy beaches of the Norfolk Coastline where with so many miles of sand a secluded spot can always be found! At one of these spots In Winter you can see the baby seals being born on the beach

Other Activities: boating, beaches, gardens, craft shops, tea rooms, leisure centre

Golf: Golf at nearby Sprowston Manor Hotel, approximately 5 miles away
