About Sharon Karttunen
I have lived in this area since 1960. Raised two well rounded, happy girls due, in part, to the beautiful area. I can't imagine living elsewhere. Yes, it's cold and snowy in the winter, but when spring and summer arrive, all is forgotten. The picture above is my daughter and her sons. It was taken the day they went to Presque Isle, located in the park and beautiful place to view the falls and spend time on the beaches of Lake Superior.
Sharon Karttunen purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Sharon Karttunen chose Silver City
I have owned property in this area since 1980. Where I live now, was once the Rainbow Motel and Chalet's. The property where the cabin is located was called The End of the Rainbow. It was a restaurant and Laundromat. We remodeled all of it. My parents and niece lived in the two cabins on this piece of property. Mom and Dad decided they should be closer to town and my niece went to collage.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin is a great base camp for all the activities at the Porcupine Mountain State Park. It's a beautiful piece of property with maples, white birch, and spruce trees that are very old. I remember going to the restaurant when I was younger, getting an ice cream cone and watching the bears. From the car, of course.

Clean, comfy, cozy . . . your cabin was our delightful home away from home during our visit to the Porcupine Mountains. What a treat to return to our peaceful quarters after a long day of hiking! Every square inch of the cabin was designed for maximum storage and comfort. Especially enjoyed the northwoods decor from the woodsy bedspread to the Americana wall art.
The Presque Isle area of the park was our favorite hiking destination. The solitude of the woods, the rushing of the river, the crashing of Superior whitecaps . . . heaven on earth!
Thank you, Sharon, for providing the perfect retreat for a downstate couple seeking solitude in a natural setting.
Beautiful little cabin. Just perfect for two and trips to the Porkies.
Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of paradise. The cabin was just perfect. I have shared the info with many friends already and would definitely come back myself!
Cabin was perfect! Very comfortable and included everything we needed for a wonderful two day stay!
During a full week of cold rain & some sleet, I never got cabin fever! Nestled in this cozy clean space, I had all the necessary simple basics for semi-rustic comfort. It was a joy to return to after being outdoors in adverse conditions. My only concern was about the several inches of counter-top overhanging the very quiet efficient heater -- but it always turned off before the underside of the counter got too hot. I hope this cabin enjoys a long healthy life! My Porcupine Mts souvenir was a broken arm while hiking a slippery muddy trail. Nature, indeed, bats last! Thank you, Sharon & crew, for the love, amenities & structural integrity you put into Little Rainbow!
Loved it! Great place to stay for a week of hiking in the Porcupines.
Very nice. Would stay there again!
Cute cozy cabin
Cute, comfortable cabin for a couple located close to the Porcupine Mountains in Silver City, MI. Very good experience with customer service! The owners seemed to think of everything from the grill on the porch to the provided firewood for the fire ring. Neat place!
We are a small community with lots of nature. No gas station in town, no grocery store, just an abundance of beauty. The nearest town with a gas station and convenience store is White Pine, six miles from here. So come prepared and you will surely have a wonderful vacation.
