Our lovely villa is set on the hillside above Kambia village and provides the ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday. It is set in an acre of ground including an olive grove, a newly planted orchard and beautiful gardens of flowering shrubs and trees, giving privacy. There is a private pool (8.5m x 4.5m), with large terraces and adjoining lawned area and two pergolas. Open and covered terraces on all sides of the villa, offer sun or shade throughout the day. Inside, the bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor (cooler at night) whilst the open plan lounge, kitchen with dining area and second bathroom are on the first floor, taking full advantage of the stunning panoramic views over Souda Bay to the Akrotiri peninsula and over the valley of olive groves to the White mountains. Sunsets are dramatic from the large upstairs balcony. The villa has modern facilities, with local Cretan touches, is well equipped and offers very comfortable accommodation. Free wifi is provided at the villa and Yvonne, our local cleaner, visits twice a week.
The villa is not on a complex, is situated on a very large plot and, as the property is surrounded with oleander trees, it is completely private. Entrance to the property is from a quiet road, through gates leading onto a large private drive providing access to the house. There is a fruit orchard which was planted five years ago to one side of the house with the swimming pool, lawned area and gardens surrounding the other aspects of the villa.The villa has an attractive, mediterranean garden with stunning hybiscus trees and other specimen plants whilst our large olive grove stretches beyond the front garden area. Guests are welcome to pick fresh lemons, herbs and use the olive oil in the kitchen from our trees.
The villa is an 'upside down house' with bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor whilst the lounge, kitchen dining area and second bathroom are upstairs. This layout maximises the stunning views and offers guests cooler bedrooms at night, although fans are also provided
Private swimming pool:
The swimming pool is 8.5 x 4.5 metres shelving from 1.2 to 2 metres. It is surrounded by a large crazy paved area and has olive trees, palm trees, yuccas and other ornamental plants around it, together with a small lawned area making this a very attractive and private part of the property. In addition there are lovely views across our olive grove towards Souda Bay to the North West or the White Mountains to the South West of the villa. To the side of the pool area a large pergola provides a shady spot for reading or relaxing and there is another smaller pergola near the deeper end of the pool. In addition there are 8 sunbeds and small tables for guest’s use. plus an oudoor shower.Previous guests have commented on the sparkling water and cleanliness of the pool which is serviced twice a week.The ideal location of the villa has also been noted: quiet, private, yet only a few minutes from the seaside resorts of Almyrida, Kalives or Georgioupolis and within easy of Chania and Rethymnon.
A choice ot terrace:
There is a very large partly covered upstairs terrace (with dining table and chairs) which runs across most of the front of the house, giving fantastic panoramic views across Souda Bay and to Akrotiri peninsular. This is a super area for reading or dining or simply enjoying a glass of wine whilst watching the amazing sun sets over the bay or star gazing at night upon your return from the taverna. There is a further open terrace to the rear of the house leading from the lounge (with breakfast table and chairs) overlooking the Drapanos mountain. From here you can watch the sun rise and then have breakfast whilst watching the sheep graze. Bedrooms 1 and 2 also have covered terraces so there is always a choice of sun or shade around the villa as you relax, read a book, listen to your I-pod or have a swim in the pool.

Vielen Dank and Jenny und Mick sowie an Yvonne und Ray, die alles dafür tun, dass man einen schönen und stressfreien Urlaub erleben kann.
Die Ausstattung des Hauses ist überdurchschnittlich. Die neue Küche, die gute Internetverbindung und der Bose-Lautsprecher haben uns besonders gut gefallen.
Gerne kommen wir in einem anderen Jahr wieder!
We were very fortunate to stay at Kambia House for our two week holiday to Crete in July 2016. The villa was superb and very well equipped throughout our stay. It has to be the nicest villa we have stayed in after many visits to the Almyrida/Plaka/Kambia region and we would definitely consider renting again on our next visit.
The villa is everything as described and more. It was extremely clean with a gorgeous new kitchen ( not that we cooked much - food too nice in local restaurants) and the beautiful gardens and pool were immaculate. We are a family of four and we loved coming back after a hot day sightseeing and relaxing by the pool or sitting out on one of the many balconies. Lovely when you are chasing a cool Cretan breeze. It is set on quite a steep hill so would recommend a car. Mick and Jenny were so lovely to deal with all through the booking process. We really enjoyed our stay and it was difficult to drag ourselves away.
We had an amazing 2 weeks in this beautiful villa in Kambia. The house is lovely, very well maintained and exceptionally clean with absolutely everything you could want in terms of equipment. All the rooms were lovely with my favourite spot being the balcony overlooking the bay, with a view that I never tired of! The area has lots to offer with lovely historical places to visit as well as gorgeous beaches, but tearing ourselves away from the villa was very hard, and coming home even harder! All the local restaurants were delicious and cheap and everyone was so friendly which made for a wonderful relaxing holiday. We would highly recommend this gorgeous villa and Jenny and Mick were so helpful from our first enquiry. Thank you! Hopefully we will be back.
What a delight to return to Kabia House once again. The ownwers Jenny and Mick continually make improvements and adjustments to make staying in their Villa such a pleasure. This year the addion of a brand new kitchen with a dishwasher made our stay even more of a pleasure. The villa is maintained to such a high standard with a sparkling pool and pristine accomodation which reflects well on both the ownwers and the housekeeper and Pool man and Gardener.

we had a wonferful holiday in kambia house; the villa is very beautiful, spacious and very well equiped; the area are beautiful (garden, swimmiing pool and the vieuw over the Souda bay and the mountains are fabulous); The village near kambia house (Plaka,and Almyrida) were very nice; The house was very well maintened (thank you Yvonne) twice a week ; Yvonne is a very nice person;
we visited Hania, Rethymon, and differents villages in the mountains; It's a wonderful country; we hope to return again....
Kambia House sits on a peaceful hillside above the hamlet of Kambia. Plaka, the nearest village is 3 mins by car or a 15 min walk, has three very good tavernas, kafenions and a very well stocked supermarket selling freshly baked bread. The seaside resort of Almyrida (5 mins by car) has plenty of tavernas, shops, a shallow beach, canoe and wind surf hire. Kalives (10 mins by car) has two good beaches, lots more tavernas and shops, and a large INCA supermarket. Within easy driving distance is the old Venetian city of Chania(30mins): here you can wander through the old town, have a drink or meal whilst overlooking the Venetian harbour & visit the interesting museums. It is also easy to reach the ancient site of Aptera, the many lovely mountain villages, walk stunning gorges (like the famous Imbros or Samaria Gorge) or travel a little further to the Minoan sites of Knossos or Phaistos and the excellent, newly refurbished archaeological museum in Heraklion. Boat trips to Gramvousa or, if you want to go further afield, to Santorini can be booked in the main season.

A non refundable deposit of 10% is required to secure the booking payable by cheque or direct bank transfer, with the balance paid 2 months before the departure date.
Bookings made within 2 months of the departure date must be paid in full at the time of booking.
