The superb location makes it ideal for visiting the many castles - Leeds, Hever, Bodiam (NT), Sissinghurst (NT) and Scotney (NT). Historic houses nearby include Knole, Igtham Mote, Chartwell (all NT) and Penshurst Place. The magnificent Canterbury cathedral is 1 hour away. Battle Abbey (1066 site) is 36 minutes. Sheffield Park is also worth a visit, 50 minutes away. There are also many beautiful gardens in the area, as well as character villages and traditional pubs to explore, whilst a day trip to London (50 minutes) is easily reached from Paddock Wood station.
