To the north of Mevagissey, the little port of Charlestown can be found, which formerly exported copper and later china clay. There is also a small museum and Heritage Centre that charts a fascinating history of fishing, wrecks, mining and migration to North America. It also has its own beach, whilst St. Austell offers outstanding cliff and coastal scenery with beaches at Carlyon Bay, Porthpean, Pentewan and Par. Truro 15 miles.
