About the property

Luxury Studio In Great Neighborhood

What a treat this apartment is! The neighborhood and street is out of this world, the best of the best. Situated in the oldest section of Paris, this area, called the Marais, offers an array of cultural and cosmopolitan features: hip and trendy shops, historical buildings on streets that are centuries old, the Jewish quarters, and the fashionable gay neighborhood. You’ll find upscale perfumers, wine and champagne vendors, jewelers, bakeries, cheese shops, gardens, intimate museums, and some of the best shopping in Paris. The apartment is located on rue des Rosiers, or ‘Street of Rosebushes,’ a cobblestone pedestrian street that dates to the 12th century when King Phillipe II built ramparts and planted roses along the fortified walls enclosing his kingdom. When everything else is closed in Paris, the rue des Rosiers is bustling; it is perhaps the only area where, on Sunday, everything is open! The picturesque street makes for wonderful people-watching in the middle of Paris’ most vibrant area. The public garden tucked away down the street feels like a private respite. This is where trendsetting and tradition mingle, and it’s like no other experience.

This luxury apartment, in a 17th century building, oozes charm. The massive doorway on the street is proof of its age, a throwback to the past. Upstairs, entering the apartment, one is struck by the dazzling beauty of the décor. There is an exquisite play between lace like decorations, light, and lovely intricate touches, making this a strikingly beautiful apartment.

No expense has been spared in the renovation of this upscale apartment, furnished with an elegant combination of antiques and high end comfort. Take for example the floors which are quartersawn in French massive oak and the intricate iron welded railing recreated using a 19th century ironmonger’s pattern. It’s in the small details: the fixtures, the glasses, the crystal chandelier, the two bathrobes for guests to use, lavender plants hanging from the windows… Absolutely everything has been chosen specially for the apartment to provide pleasure for its guests.

Notice the magnificent floor-to-ceiling double glazed windows with wooden shutters opening over the street. What a pleasure to watch the passersby and the neighborhood activity below.

The modernized downstairs bathroom is simply perfect. It includes a bathtub with rain shower, WC, and sink. White tile, pearl grey walls, and the owner’s personal decorative choices and supplies make this a truly pleasant bathroom. A washer dryer combo is tucked away on one side.

The open kitchen is lined with Italian marble counter tops and backsplash. Newly equipped with a 4 burner induction stove top, dishwasher, and microwave/oven combo, all your needs are provided for. Beautiful glassware, new appliances, and elegant tea cups are just some of the special additions to this kitchen.

On the far side of the room, the sofa bed opens to become a queen bed. A TV against the wall pivots for comfortable viewing. The area around the sofa bed and coffee table can seat up to 6 guests and is a perfect flexible and casual dining area.

Head up the oak staircase, lined with the intricate iron railing, and enter the welcoming mezzanine bedroom. Elegant sconces, retrieved from a 19th century renovation of a medieval castle, are hung intermittently along the walls. A closet area, off to the side in a convenient nook, provides ample storage space. There is also a second half bathroom with WC and sink on this level. As this building dates to the 17th century, the bedchamber and powder room are nestled in an alcove under rustic exposed beams. Taller clients should be prepared to duck their heads. Nestled nearby is a comfortable queen bed. From the mezzanine you can look out over the living room, through the lace worked iron railing and the chandelier, and to the tall windows bringing in light from the street. So easy to go out and buy morning croissants!

Massive oak beams are the building blocks that support these 400 + year old buildings throughout Paris, and the rest of Europe. In this apartment, they are exposed and line the ceiling of the mezzanine and the 2nd floor bathroom. Each beam has different dimensions, so it's difficult to provide a standard ceiling height. That said, if you are 5'6 or taller you should expect to duck to make use of the 2nd floor bedchamber and toilette.

A reliable team of property managers and cleaners are provided for any questions or help.

Enjoy this unique Marais studio for an unforgettable vacation in Paris!

Great Location, Could be Cleaner

  • 3 of 5

Fantastic location right in the center of the adorable Marais District convenient to great cafe's & shopping. The apartment has everything you need and is decorated cute however the floor was so dirty and the building is very shabby. Perhaps being on the cobblestone street adds to the amount of dust. The window box could use some live flowers instead of the dead dried up ones. If they cleaned it better I would stay again. We felt like locals and you can't beat the location.

Great location.

  • 4 of 5

We liked the place but didn't realize until we arrived that the ceiling in the loft/bedroom is only about 4.5 feet high. Using the bathroom off the bedroom is challenging unless you are below five feet tall. That said, it was a nice, well appointed apartment in a great location in the lower Marais. The host was responsive and greeted us at the apartment.

A perfect pied-à-terre

  • 5 of 5

We found this gem of a place just a few weeks before we were off to Paris and we couldn't of been more happy with the choice. I did a lot of research for apartments in the heart of the Marais district and luckily this apartment was available. It was perfectly the right size for the two of us, (there was a pull out sofa for additional guests). It's a small studio apartment with a loft and 1.5 bathrooms, but designed rather smartly. It has been recently remodeled and everything is new and modern.

The upstairs is a loft, so if you are taller than 5' 8", you will need to bend down a bit. My husband is 6' 2" and he didn't seem to mind. The main floor has plenty of head room. The bed is very comfy and there are plenty of covers and pillows to keep you warm and cozy.

We met the manager Soad at the apartment and she showed us how to operate all the appliances, phone, keys to the apartment, etc. She was so nice and helpful. She even went light grocery shopping and picked up fruit, cheese, milk, eggs and bread! What a great surprise.

The apartment is situated in such an awesome street in the Marais district with amazing restaurants, bakeries, shops just a few steps outside. It's so Parisian!

This is perfect studio with a loft for two (maybe up to four if you don't mind close quarters). We were so pleased with this find, and plan to rent it again when we return.

Thanks to Soad and team for adding to our amazing stay in Paris. Ahhh, Paris, until next time...
